Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Being fair here I must say that caravaners and Campers would find Wintersun OK as the grounds and ammenities are fine but it is those wanting to stay in a cabin who need to be aware that they won't be getting what they pay for. I booked a Studio Cabin 5 weeks in advance of arriving only to be put into a cabin seriously below standard. When I complained I was told it was all they had left ! I was also informed that if not satisfied I could go elsewhere. Not likely as we arrived late Saturday afternoon on a day when there was a major event on in town that evening. The cabin was VERY tired with flooring which looked as though it had been set upon by an axe weilding maniac. Better was to come in the bathroom where the floor was rotten and spongy and the floor covering loose. The shower curtain rail was completely past it with rust. Security was not one of this cabins strong points as the security screen door was missing its latching mechanism which meant of course that there was NO security. VERY disappointing treatment, especially since I have patronised Wintersun over 20 years but not again.

Our cabin was very comfortable and clean. The bedding was excellent, and the ensuite was better than many others we have used. The park is situated in a convenient location, short drive to the town centre and close to the old telegraph station. The security is excellent with a sliding electric gate which is shut at 6pm and operates with your boom gate code. Razor wire is on all external fencing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We definitely would stay here again.

Excellent caravan park. Secure and safe. Lovely grassy sites, clean, great shower facilities and barbecue kitchen area. Staff are very helpful. We stayed here twice on our way to and back from West Macdonnell Ranges. Great proximity to centre of town too.

Beautiful little park. Very secure & we feel really safe here. The facilities are immaculate in both cleanliness and maintenance. Added bonus is a few potted herbs near the camp kitchen for use by guests. Loving it here

A functional caravan park with good quality cabins. Facilities are there. When I was there,it was well patronised. Their computer system is cumbersome and really should be upgraded. Staff at office are fine. Location is good but is about 3 km from cbd.

The staff here are very rude and interruptive when trying to make a booking and cancel a booking. Cancellation fees are charged even when canceling due to covid restrictions beyond your control. These fees are charged without notice or the option of a credit given. Disgraceful management.

Response from Alison Armstead, Owner at Wintersun Caravan Park
Responded 7 Aug 2021
Thank you for your feedback regarding our park. In these turbulent times when border closures are becoming a common occurrence, making an online booking through a third party and paying for the full accommodation cost in advance does incur a degree of risk of having to cancel or defer the stay, which most people are prepared to take. There are fees involved with these types of booking which we have kept as low as possible during this pandemic. I am sure we are all looking forward to being able to travel unimpeded before too much longer.

Hadn’t stayed in this park before, so thought we’d give it a try. I found the lady at reception to be quite brusque in my interactions with her but other staff were fine. The park is handy to the Telegraph Station and Anzac Hill (both pleasant walks), and we also walked into the mall a couple of times. There’s also an IGA close by. The place feels secure (razor wire will do that for you), with a boom gate and front gates that are shut each night. I had a problem with the lack of bins - only two locations, one near the pool and the other by the camp kitchen. Great showers - hot, with good pressure.

This caravan park is a jewel. It was unfortunate for us that Alice Springs was in lock down while we were there. The amenities were clean and the grounds well kept. It helps in a lock down to have great neighbours and we were blessed with that. Definitely, when in Alice Springs do yourself a favour and stay at this caravan park.

Spent a week here with our caravan. Staff friendly, facilities clean and regularly serviced. Centrally located with an IGA just 300 metres away. You can walk into town, or catch a public bus. The only downside is the BBQs in the camp kitchen, they are very slow to heat up.
