Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Beautiful old world charm pub, has lots going for it but......
A feature I wanted was off street parking and the lady at reception said the parking was on the street in 2 hour parking zone or on the vacant block next door that looked like a construction site. When I went for a walk I saw that there was parking out the back for guests! (Oh well she must have been new) this was after I had to drive on the sidewalk and manoeuvre my car over jutting concrete.
Stayed in the ensuite room but it had no hot water, didn't mind too much as the room was quite hot even with the air con running on coolest temp. Asked reception for a fan but was told they didn't have one. Windows don't open to let fresh air in.
Bar staff messed up my dinner order and served me an entree instead of a main meal, and my dinner guest didn't get their salad, lady in the kitchen service area was not apologetic but more accusatory. Oh well again, food was tasty.
On the bright side the Cocktails were absolutely beautiful and it is a lovely venue.

We stayed here on a very busy weekend when Wagga was hosting a touch football competition. The rooms are spacious and clean. Recently renovated, the bed a pillows were very comfy. The staff at the hotel were friendly and nice. The room would be much improved by the addition of a hairdryer, tissues and tea and coffee making facilities. Other than that, we really liked our stay.

We were in Wagga for one night on the way to Victoria. 3 days before Christmas 2021, this was a great space. If your looking for a bar for a drink, a group for a girls catch up, families because dinner order starts at 5:30pm, little play area and had a jumping castle for Christmas, the space was large and well spaced to suit all styles and needs.
It could hold large groups and small. We really liked it as a family who was tired and just wanted a place the 1 & 5 year old would be accommodated without any fuss. Staff were lovely, food was normal pub food as expected, not over priced and reasonably fast.

Absolutely appalling lack of service!
Romano’s had been a favourite for years- until now.
Family function venue at the cocktail bar was “double booked” last minute.
We were moved to an upstairs function room.
No staff or food for first 1.5hrs
No bar staff.
Finger food was the worst ever. We had to ask for plates and cutlery.
10pm we were told to “turn the music down” as people were sleeping!
Saturday night! Long weekend! In a pub!
Staff were cleaning plates and cutlery in full view of party guests!
Pub meals were appalling.
Frozen vegetables were still cold as was mashed potato with steak.
One male staff member was very rude, particularly to the bride.
Romano’s will forever be off the list of places to go in Wagga.
Appalling. Shame on you

Older style looking pub with accommodation upstairs. Lift access to rooms was great.

Room was tidy and clean. Down side room was situated at noisy part if pub, heard everything from guests down stairs.

Shared bathroom facilites couple doors down.
Heads up, have shower in morning, rather of night as hot water took forever to heat up. Gave up waiting in the end.

Tea & coffee station avail but on lvl 2. Very basic.

Parking avail at front door but it is timed to 1hr. Ok if u arrive after the time limmit finished on a saturday.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in was spacious and the food in the hotel’s restaurant was very good. I enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is located not far from the river and the Wagga Beach where you can go for a pleasant walk.

Very good venue for an evening meal and plenty of choice. A minor problem when the bar staff could not find the wine list! Oh well! It is easy to access in the heart of Wagga and this hotel has that ‘old world’ feel to it. Will happily visit again when next in Wagga.

We usually check out places online but stopped here after a long drive. The bar staff were very friendly and efficient so it seemed like a good place to stay. We are pretty tolerant people but...

The rooms have been recently refurbished but are very small and lack basic facilities. e.g. no storage space for luggage or clothes, no chairs and no tea or coffee making facilities apart from a station down the hall. ( Take down your own water)The large en suite was the best feature of the room.

Our room on the western side of the hotel was noisy, partly due to the gap between the window and the sash but more so because of intrusive music from the downstairs bar , which went on until about 12.15a.m. I mentioned these things to reception when checking out.

The staff, bistro meals and hot showers saved the place but at $159 p/n it was an average stay at best.

Unfortunately the food was not good at all and there was an aggressive rugby team there being very offensive and displaying poor culture. I wouldn’t have got this at the Kooringal. Next time I’ll go there as the people are better and more welcoming.

When I ate dinner there I went to grab some salt and pepper. To my dismay the salt and pepper shakers were not screwed on! As you can imagine, it ruined my food. There was also a heap of coasters scattered on the floor.

Was a Con POULOS ever an owner or lessee of this Hotel ?
Answer from Amanda C
Hello Bob, We don't believe so but can't say for sure. Romano's has a long history so it's possible he was at some point.
