I booked these apartments quite late in the day due to an unexpected change iny travel arrangements. The exterior of the building is dark and perhaps a little foreboding but hides a truly lovely comfortable base for a visit to Sydney. My apartment was well appointed with a huge super comfortable bed. The staff were extremely helpful with fresh towels and toiletries available every week day. The location gives you very easy access to Sydneys superb transport network with the bus stop and train station just around the corner. Also there is a Coles and. Woolworths within a 3 minute walk so you have everything you need. The Opera house, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour are within walking distance although a good stretch of the legs but the bus costs pennies so both are an option for you.
A VERY reasonable airport transfer is on offer but I would caution that this is a shared transfer so allow plenty of time. My flight to Melbourne was already boarding when I checked in my bags.

I stayed two nights 28FEB - 1MAR and the Annam Apartments truly exceeded my expectations on many fronts.

First, i'll highlight the value for money. It was World Pride in Sydney and as I was browsing hotel prices they were absolutely exorbitant. I managed to secure an excellent deal at the Annam for around £110 per night. As a point of comparison the Ibis Budget Sydney East down the road was charging £105 per night for a simple room.

Secondly, the apartment itself. I was in apartment 34 and it was a great size and had absolutely everything in it that I needed. The building is certainly not new but it is well maintained and for me older style apartment buildings tend to have roomier apartments as the new more modern ones seem to have cracked the code in fitting apartments into the minimum amount of floorspace possible.

Thirdly, the location was absolutely perfect for me. It was five minutes walk from Kings Cross station and five minutes walk from Rushcutters Bay park. You can easily walk into the city centre in 20-25 minutes if you don't want to take the train or bus.

Finally, every staff member I dealt with was so friendly. I arrived at the apartments at 11am and had no expectation of being given a room, I was just going to leave my luggage and wander around until check in time. However they were able to accommodate me straight away which was great. This impressed me as I have stayed at hotels before where even when the room HAS been available early they try to charge you a 'fee' for early check in.

Most impressively, I checked out and got half way to the airport when I had a feeling of utter dread. I had removed my travel wallet with my passport and a substantial amount of cash and hidden it in the room thinking I was being all clever. Stupid me, I left without it. I called the hotel and they quickly located the travel wallet and handed it over complete with all the contents - thank you so much.

The only area for development is the wifi. This was not an issue for me, I was out and about a lot and had data on my phone so I wasn't bothered at all. BUT if wifi is a priority for you you may want to make other arrangements (buy a mobile wifi dongle or such) as the wifi in the hotel is pretty bad.

Yes, I saw insects in the room. This is Australia in summer, I was on the third floor, I often had the windows open and you are going to see them anywhere you go. Just a few small ants and the only reason they appeared I imagine was to carry away a couple grains of rice I had inadvertently dropped on the floor. It did not bother me in the slightest I simply confiscated their prize (the rice) and they were gone. On this point, for my 40th birthday a couple years ago we splurged on a room at the Park Hyatt for £750 per night. We also saw insects in the room there.

I definitely know where I will be looking to return to when I visit Sydney next.

It's certainly hard to beat the location and the price of this accommodation since it is in easy walking distance of bars, cafes, restaurants and King's Cross Railway Station. The latter makes it very easy for moving around Sydney on public transport and you're spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing where to eat or drink. But the downside was the bathroom of our apartment. The tiles were chipped, grout was mouldy in the shower, tapware was corroded and there was something odd about the toilet seat not fitting onto the pan correctly. There was no shelf in the shower but holes where there used to be one. In itself that wasn't a big deal but it did mean the choice to store soaps and shampoos was either on the floor of the shower or outside the shower on the bench next to the basin. Either option meant awkward reaching or bending. The bed was quite comfortable though not pillow top. If the bathroom had been cleaner, I certainly would have scored the accommodation higher but it's a major part of a stay.

Liked · AMAZING location! Daily room service was generous with shampoo's and coffee refills. Excellent price for the location and overall condition of our room (52)

Disliked · Single glazing meant some road noise, not a biggie. Wifi inconsistent, not great. On two occasions we had to put towels under the entry door as someone next door was cooking asian food and it stank

NB this is not a high-end hotel, so if you want perfect and if you're going to moan if you don't get it, go somewhere else. There were a few cosmetic items such as cracking in bathroom tiles in the corner where the building had moved.. broken fins on the aircon unit. 'The manager was great during check-in and offered us handy hints. Our rooms were serviced daily and we appreciated their generosity re shampoo and coffee supplies. Don't count on good wifi, it sucks. But it is clean, with lovely crispy fresh linen, and the location is AMAZING! For the price, l rate it 10/10 We will definitely be back when we next visit Sydney, thank you Annam!

Very basic room, cheap mattress, no spare pillows or blankets. Extremely basic tea and coffee. Bathroom had broken fittings and stank of mold. Security cards did not work reliably so some stress about getting into building/rooms after dinner. No slot for returning key card after hours. The location is amazing and a little work on the rooms and comfort would go a long way.

I've loved it here so much that I extended for an extra week and then for another week, making it a total of 4 weeks. Such a nice and bright little apartment with everything you need. Even a washing machine and clothes dryer in each room. I had a corner room which has a double sliding door, also doors opening to a little balcony, actually the room has 2 Juliette balconies. Also 2 windows all with nice wide views over to Paddington. Nice kitchen with 4 plate stove top, oven, microwave and cooking utensils. I'm not sure what some previous people are on about when it comes to noise. I was on the 2nd floor, corner room with a fairly busy rd on one side and have had no problem sleeping in almost 4 weeks. I'm a really light sleeper as well. The wifi worked better than other reviews also but I just hotspotted my laptop to my mobile data and it was fine. Staff are awesome, location is fantastic. the whole package was wonderful.Oleg and staff couldn't have been more helpful. I was sad leaving this hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed at your hotel for three nights between November 17th and November 20th.

On November 18th at night I opened a kitchen cabinet to grab a glass and in there I saw a Roach running around. I trapped the Roach with one of the glass and put the glass on the floor for the housekeeper to remove it the next day. The housekeeper did remove it the next day.

On November 20th at the middle of the night I woke up to use the wash room and after I came out I felt something brush by feet and I turned on the lights to see two roach running on the kitchen floor. I screamed waking up my girlfriend. One of the two roaches was giant, I grabbed a pot and hit the roach with it. The bottom half of the roach was crushed but it was still running. I was able to trouble the big roach under a glass and was able to trap the other roach under a glass as well.

I can understand seeing 1 roach over the stay, but to see catch 3 roaches over two days given that we were only in the room at night to sleep is absolutely unacceptable and an indication that there a is much larger problem with the building.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed here. It's my preferred place for long-term accom. It's always clean, staff are wonderful and it has everything you need. Even a washing machine and clothes dryer. Great location. I'll be back here later this year for my 3rd visit. Fabulous boutique hotel which is serviced daily.

I am currently still staying at the Annam in Potts Point.
Firstly, it's not actually Potts Point but technically Kings Cross.
The area is dodgy if you travel alone I really don't recommend it.
Reception won't take debit cards, credit only. And she tried to demand a $1000 charge off our cards each that would be "refunded at end of stay" yeah right.
The receptionist was rude and her behaviour was downright disgusting - she treated us poorly from the moment there was a problem with us only have debit rather than credit cards even though we paid upfront.
The bed sheets are scratchy and the pillows are like little lumps of cotton wool.
The rooms are NOTHING like the photos on the website.
The internet connection doesn't work.
Buzzers from the intercom in rooms are disabled so you need to go downstairs to let your guests in and the reception is VERY inqusitive - she has asked both my friends who they are visiting and their full names - even though it's a 'serviced apartment' not a posh hotel and I believe thats not her business.

The 'balconys' are 3 inches big.... you can't actually stand out on them. The doors don't shut properly and windows don't shut properly either so noise and cold comes through constantly.

My room has a dodgy hallway thing that has a cupboard and creeps me out like someone is hiding down in the end of my room and the wind bangs against it constantly waking me up.

I will NEVER stay here again.
I have paid a $200 deposit and my stay in full for the next 3 days and I am afraid I'm just going to have to leave and not get anything back as I cannot stay in a place like this ever again.

I'm missing home and a clean bed terribly.
Do not stay here - the price is NOTHING at all worth what you are getting... I'm certain that for what we paid we could have gotten much better as I previously have stayed at Vibe, Grace, etc etc and loved it for the costs.

Bad recommendation from a friend and I wish I checked here first.

This is a good service apartment if you do not mind 24-hour of non-stop noise like drunk "mates", cars, police & ambulance sirens, bats etc... from the street even though windows are shut. Well... you can see the feedback on noise from others. Well... it is true. I will describe how it really is for those wondering between conflicting feedbacks. The window frames are a little loose and basically you are hearing the noise directly from the street. Just consider it as you are sleeping on street as far as noise concerned. But hey this is Kings Cross, the true center of night! If you are one of them (here to make noise), why would you complain about the noise from others. If you are looking for a peaceful nights, KIngs Cross is very wrong place to start with anyway. So, having all that said, hotel management takes your "feedback" with smile when you complain about the noise, and you will surely get some free ear plugs from them. To be fair, "apartment features" like the washing machine, kitchen, space... are OK. I would not call this a great service apartment compared to decent ones like Medina and Panthill, but if you got nothing else available for the time, just go for it with ear plugs. There are nice restaurants around the corner, too.

The wifi was basically useless when we were there. It was an open network too so not great for security. I did a couple of bandwidth tests and never recorded more than half a mb downstream - and usually a lot less.
