Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a once good property now
so out of date run my old people.

Awful rooms that have been neglected for years
backed up by zero service. The staff are untrained
and have no idea about service. Location is
good however there are so many properties
close by and cheaper.

Forget it, so many better

We had booked three nights here and when we arrived to our room we were shocked at what we found. Dirty, torn curtains, rice over the floor, used soap in the bathroom. This place is not clean at all. The reception is only manned limited hours each day so there was no one to contact. We didn't stay of course and contacted Wotif.com immediately who were fantastic and made other arrangements for us in another property. We have since received a full refund via Wotif.com.

We were paying good money for this very unpleasant dirty room. Don't try it.

i spend 2weeks in this place..the hall is very clean...but you must see the rooms.Rooms smell funny and there are cockroaches everywhere: in the bathroom,in the bedroom and on the carpet.this place need a disinfection.the staff know about the problem and several times because i told them..and they've done nothing about it. the rooms are very dirty and the staff when i told them about the problem they mocking me and i paid 450$ AU per week. this is a dump not an hotel. don't be fooled by the exterior because it's nice at the first sight. you have to look inside in each room to discover how dirty is this place. i would not reccomend to anyone. stay away from this place.

There is simply no place on earth like Australia. There's no place in Australia like Sydney. There's no place in Sydney like King's Cross, and there's no place in Kings Cross like the Crescent on Bayswater. The staff at this fabulous hotel is just plain unbelievably friendly, helpful, professional, alert, disciplined and concerned about each guest. They literally treat you like royalty. Now with the Beefsteak & Bourbon closed, and the government turning more conservative - maybe the wild days are over - but damn near everything still goes here (especially at night by the courthouse wall.) A great hotel, and a truly memorable experience to have breakfast on the second floor patio facing the harbor. What a people these Aussies are! Inexpensive, practical - great kitchen in my room, supermarkets nearby (everything is nearby) not fancy - not luxurious but really nice and really afordable. I'd say, due to the location and the vibe - this hotel is not intended for families with young children, or travelling missionaries. but if you want to do serious business or simply kick up your heels on totally new territory - this hotel fills the bill marvelously.

We last stayed here 14 years ago, and we had very special memories about the place. It was pretty decent then, but I don't think anything has been done to the place in the intervening time. Shabby in the extreme, run down, and the junkie chatting up the reception lady didn't help. To make matters worse, the balcony door to the room didn't lock, and there was no way we were going to stay in a place like this with a non-locking door. I think the receptionist worked out exactly how we felt, and offered our money back. Good move!

Crescent is an interesting place ... a lot of occupants are residents, so there isn't a touristy vibe. Reception is staffed intermittently (check especially if arriving late or on a weekend). But, the room I stayed in was spacious, comfortable bed and useful kitchenette (very few places for this price have a kitchen). The wifi situation is interesting - you have to pay for it - but after paying for it I found the service was VERY intermittent. Location is handy to town, and Kings Cross, depending on what you're after. (Nearby nightclubs mean that if you're travelling for business rather than pleasure you should probably pack earplugs).

Having had to spend an extended business trip in Sydney recently, it was brilliant to find this 'home away from home' at such reasonable rates. Sure the rooms (studios & 1 bedrooms) could do with a lick and a polish but they are sunny, all have balconies, and are in the heart of a plethora of restaurants and bars. Sydney's coolest pizza bar (Hugo's) is downstairs. Kings Cross train station is 2 minutes away. There are a supermarket and a convenience store within one minute.

Minuses:
The kitchenettes are not up to much - OK for making breakfast but stick to restaurants and takeaways for other meals. There is no airport or other broadband. You have to clamber into a tiny bath and have poor water pressure for the shower. You have to take your own rubbish out and cleaning is only weekly.

Pluses:
The lovely staff - Michael and Lada - who will do whatever they can to help you. Location location location. Sunny, warm and bright. Price price price.

Highly recommended.

The moment I walked in, I was impressed with this boutique hotel, the chic design, the hanging artworks and the cozy lounge makes one feel at home. The quaint guests’ lounge with its comfortable sofa with the internet, coffee/tea bar, microwave and tables facing the television gives one enough space to move around the hotel when you feel like going out of your room. One gets a good view of the street from the lounge while having free coffee /tea. The modern designed room maybe small but provides the basics, comfy bed, good shower, iron and board, and other amenities though a lamp could have been added at the desk. The location is very accessible to the train station, bars, coffee shops and to where the action is. Our 3 day stay could have been perfect if the housekeeping staff didn’t miss fixing our room and making up our bed on the second day. The amiable front-desk staff must have also overlooked reminding us of the DST on the day the airport shuttle would be picking us up. The noise from the street does get into the room, so maybe a good soundproofing has to be done and the elevator seems to bounce back before it stops. The hotel size is ideal for solo and couple travelers. I have observed that the staff’s concern with the security of their guests was highly remarkable. The location serves the purpose of traveling conveniently. Still,I would recommend this hotel to my friends.
