On the way to our room the hallway smelt like dirt and the room itself was Even worse, can't believe I paid over $100 nzd for this room and it was utter crap. Walls were old and patchy only one plug in the room, bathroom so small you couldn't swing a cat in it and the shower was dingy and...

It is a nice pub for a drink. Can be noisy at lunch time and the main upstairs sports bar was male dominant (which did not worry me) which had a good selection of sports TVs. There is a nice quiet cosy bistro area downstairs. The food is nice and there are great daily specials.

Even if this is a budget hotel (it was more like a hostel), it shouldn't be as bad as it was. We stayed on the 3rd floor without a lift, the door to the shower was broken so you had to squeeze in, we had ants everywhere in the bathroom, the bathroom 'door' was just a sliding door which folded...

Although everything was clean, the hotel is too old. The staff though is friendly and helpful. Wifi is good too. Location is great. The room was not properly equiped, just a sad chair, simple bed and a low table. No wardrobe. The furniture seems to be collected from the street and is in a very bad condition. You can hear traffic...

The Criterion isn't the classiest Pub in Sydney but the beer is cold and the food good. What more do you want for a drop in meal? Whilst it is an Irish themed Pub it is still a rough old Sydney Pub, which gives it a certain charm. Whilst a bit rough I've been there many times and never had...

The previous comments say pretty much everything...not much to add...they should be ashamed...and I've stayed in Asia, Africa, L. America etc...I've been everywhere...I've stayed in better rooms for 5-10 $...they should be sued for their prices (150-200!!!!!!!!!) and the misleading pics...eg one of the pics show the beautiful listed building right next to them instead of the actual hotel!!!!!!!!!!...to sum...

The room was substandard, even for hotel accommodation. The facilities were dirty and almost everything was broken. The location was so noisy, all night long, that it was impossible to sleep. I saw one very large cockroach. I was not game to go looking for others, but I am sure they were there. In some ways it was my own...

Paid $180 for the worst hotel room I've stayed in, and that includes over three years spent in Asia. Filthy rooms, bathrooms are shoddily plumbed and rarely cleaned. I observed ants and cockroaches in my room - the former clearly infest the site. All hard surfaces are stained and filthy. Air conditioning was about the only highlight, and this had...

I spent two nights at the Criterion, and maybe should have shopped around more. Staying here is basically like camping, but you get your own locked room. That said, the location is great. I don't spend much time in my room when traveling, so I can forgive some of the not so appealing bits about this hotel. It took me...

The only good things were location & free wifi. Concrete bathroom floor with NO mat to step on out of shower, terribly dangerous. Dirty bathroom, vent, tiles, shower & walls. We chose a room with own bathroom, but unfortunately our room (9) right next to shared bathroom with loud slaming door. Didn't have coffee/tea topped up till day before we...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
