Don't let the name fool you this is most definitely a back packers. My room was simple and clean with a comfortable bed. Simple breakfast of toast and cereal included. Share bathrooms are shared bathrooms, one my floor they were also unisex which I really didn't enjoy seeming that the structure of the shower and toilet cubicles was quite flimsy and not very private at all. Toilets were actually so tiny I don't struggle with the size. Toilets were not very clean and that is not the establishments fault, it really depends on who you are sharing with.

Booked for 6 nights left after 4. The heating did not work for two nights could not sleep as it was 8 degrees at night in the Sydney winter. There was a hole in the window which is hard to believe and it was cracked. When we told the person onsite they came up to the room and put tape on the glass. The fire detector was covered for some reason with plastic. Dead cockroach under the bed. Bad smell in the room. The cooking pots and pans were filthy.
The management was terrible, could not make contact with them. when we did they were not helpful. I understand that it is not a high budget place but I have stayed in a lot these types of places over the years and this was the worst. And we were told by management that we had got a better room than others. We were given an oil heater after a few days. Got on to the manager one night saying the heating was not working before 12 as stated that we can contact till. He said why had we not said this earlier. Freezing in the room.

Clean and comfortable, helpful staff, about a minute's walk to trains at King's Cross, good eating places nearby. Exactly as described, basic done well. I stayed twice on this trip, and would go back again.

With high hopes, some good reviews and a decent price me and my partner decided to book the highfield hotel for our 3 day trip to Sydney.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a young man scoffing a kebab. He must of been hungry. We got our rooms and found out it was shared facilities. We were quite disappointed as it’s not something I normally book.
Nevertheless we got on with it. However in the morning we decided to upgrade our room to on with an ensuite. I didn’t particularly fancy changing floors to use the shower and bathroom. Especially when we found out we could have a room that night for an ensuite for the exact same price we paid 6 months ago.
The manager is an interesting character who didn’t really seem to care and had great difficulties even printing a receipt for the upgrade. One of his many staff that we saw later that day did it straight away (someone give this guy a promotion).
The internet is dated that you’re capped to 500mb and keeps going off when you put your phone down for a minute.
The breakfast is a joke. It says breakfast included but it’s a tiny kitchenette that can fit about 6 people in there and it’s make your own breakfast with the limited stock of food there. (We gave up and went over the road and bought breakfast).
Defiantly left the S out of hostel. However despite all this the location was great, price reflects the building and if you’re happy with a tiny box like room that you’ll just sleep in and go out, it’s good for you.

This place claims to be a "private hotel" when all it is, is a hostel/backpackers place.
I had called the hotel earlier in the day to let them know that we would be arriving between 12am-2am as we were driving from Melbourne. The man I spoke to told me that once we got there, to call on the same number and someone would let us in.
Once we arrived, I called the number 14 times and no one would answer. We tried calling the door bell but still nothing. We then managed to get in through a secure gate by following someone else in and managed to locate the person on duty. He then handed us 3 keys and there were 11 of us booked to stay there. When we got to our rooms, 1 of them had someone else sleeping in there so we had to resort in sleeping 11 people on 2 rooms. The next morning I went to reception to try and sort out the issue and get a refund for one of the rooms and the man told me he could not issue me a refund as I had to wait for the manager to come in and do a refund on the credit card machine. He call the manager and was told he would be there in 15 minutes. We went and got a coffee and came back after 30 minutes only to be told that he still hadn't come in and could get onto him on the phone. When we finally got him on the phone, I was told that he doesn't start his shift until 11am so I would have to wait until then to get my refund. After explaining my whole experience and utter disgust with everything about this hotel I was told "well it's not the Hilton, what were you expecting".
The rooms themselves were very dirty, there was mold and stains all over the walls and ceilings, parts of the timber floors were lifting or missing, the beds were wobbly and uncomfortable and the tiny little sink in the corner stunk of urine. Some beds had sheets and others didn't and we didn't even get bath towels.
There is nothing nice about this place apart from the location.

Not cheap for what it was. Had a double room with an en suite.. Although it was basically a portaloo in my room. Wifi was only 500mb per day per room which doesn't go far. Room was pretty small. Kitchens needs some serious upgrading. Free breakfast was a benefit although kitchens so small and everything is usually gone by I was up.
Staff friendly enough. Wouldn't stay here again though.

We paid 70 dollars for a "hotel". It's a hostel.. Shared bathroom, small rooms. After we had settled in our room for about an hour we were asked to move to a smaller one.. Don't stay here, a hostel would be better. And there are actually hotels for the same price

This is not a 'hotel' but a hostel. Yes, you pay for you get but this was an all time low. To start with high, this place is in a great location. Bars/restaurants across the road and close to the kings cross station. Fairly quiet patrons. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean. The room smell musty the entire time and the fan was filled with dust and looked like it had never been cleaned. Free wifi is advertised but no password given out and if you want fresh towels you need to ask for them... hotels you get that almost daily. We booked a room with an ensuite however when we arrived apparently that wasn't what we had booked and we were told we would have to use the shared bathroom facilities. I've camped around Europe, staying in campsites and sharing bathrooms and I have NEVER seen anything more disgusting in my life than highfields female bathrooms. They look like they've been cleaned once a week. Clumps of hair everywhere. Stained and dirty, I didn't want to touch anything. There is one basin and no power points yet you cannot blow dry your hair in your room?! I don't believe this 'hotel' would be up to standard if it were to be inspected.
