This is a perfect hotel for budget travellers. It is convenient to all kinds of activities in Sydney: half block from the town hall train station and Queen Victoria Building, two blocks from Hyde Park, 30-minute walk to Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay, a large grocery store is next door, etc. We even discovered there is a bus directly to Bondi beach near Hyde Park.

The hotel staffs are very friendly. The hotel elevator is old, but it works very well.

I agreed with other reviewers. The Wifi does not work well. It looks like it works fine for Android devices, but not Apple.

We were very impressed with the Coronation. Travis was very friendly. Although a narrow entrance our room upstairs was a reasonable size and surprisingly quiet although our window was overlooking Park Street. The historical lift was a little rough due to age but worked well. The best part was everything was so close by - Town Hall Station, the QVB building etc. Lots of eating places. Although a pub was downstairs, we heard no noise.

We were looking for a cheap (for Sydney) stay on our 24 hour layover and this was definitely a great selection.

Easy to find just off the Town Hall station, this hotel is in the heart of it all.

Travis at reception was excellent and very accommodating. We had a plan of things to see but followed Travis's suggestions instead and don't regret our decision. They even let us check in way ahead of time so we could get on with our day.

The room was small but big enough as a place to spend the night and we got a good night's sleep.

Stay here just for the lift alone, it's a quirky experience.

Would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful budget hotel located at the heart of Sydney a minute walk to Town Hall train station, 10 mins walk to Darling Harbour and 20mins walk to Circular Quay. There’s Woolworths nearby and a 24 hours open fast food store opposite the hotel. From the airport you can take a train direct to Town Hall station cost A$15/head (adult and child) using OPAL card. Alternatively, if you’re in a group with luggages a taxi or uber would more convenient cost only A$53. Stayed here 4 nights our room has double and single bed (3pax), fridge, tv, iron board, telephone. Daily complimentary bottled water were supplied, toiletries were replenished regularly, our room always being cleaned and tidy. My children were amazed with the classic lift they say it reminds them of the scary tower terror hotel in Disneyland park Orlando lol. The only bad thing about our stay here is the wifi in our room is almost non existent that we have to go down to the hotel lobby/corridor to use a wifi. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay here and will comeback anytime!

Tip to first timer in Sydney. Get an Opal card to use network of public transport like train, ferry and bus. I find it more expensive though compared to London’s Oyster card but Opal has a better deal during Sunday as it will only charge you maximum of A$2.50 for unlimited rides all day on a train, ferry and bus to all destination EXCEPT airport.
