Sydney YHA is always a safe option. Clean rooms, lockers in rooms, plugs for each bed, excellent equipped and spacious kitchen. 8 Share Carriage can be noisy because they are located next to the train platforms. But no problem for one or two nights.

I've visited this hostel a few times but my only actual stay was for one night in early March. I booked into an 8 bed railway carriage and was immediately impressed with the room. Despite being an 8 bed dorm there is still a good amount of space to store belongings and move around. The beds themselves are comfortable, and... More

I have stayed here twice. Both times I was either catching a train out, or coming in on a train. The regular shared rooms are ok; although it can be hard to haul luggage up the stairs. I prefer the Carriage Car dorms, they are all ground floor and a reasonably quite considering they are adjacent to Central Station. The... More

I've stayed at Railway Square YHA 3 times and loved it every time. It has a great location, right near trains and buses and within easy walking distance to many attractions. In addition the place is clean, bright and airy. There is a really nice communal area with lounges and coffee tables etc, as well as a communal kitchen. Opposite... More

The staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming and pretty much had a conversation amongst themselves about Facebook for 10 mins while I stood in front of them before checking me in. The place is cold, no atmosphere. Backpackers in the lounge area do not talk to each, they keep to themselves. Weird! Most of them are here for long-term and looking for... More

Railway Square YHA was my last stop on my trip around Australia. I chose it on recommendation from a friend I met along the way. The location is fantastic right on the train station and even being that close there was no train noise which was great! However, with this being my first time in a YHA I can't say... More

This was the last place we would be staying at when we were in Sydney and we wanted to make sure that we were within easy reach of the local transport facilities and also attractions. Well this place was perfect, after getting the airport train to the central station the hostel was literally next door and so easy to find,... More

This is the best hostel I have stayed at. It was incredibly clean, the kitchen was huge and the rooms were homely for a hostel. The bathrooms could have had a little more ventilation when it came to shower time, and reception staff were a little abrupt but that's all I have as issues. I'm definitely staying here again without... More

I only stayed here 1 night, but from what I saw was very nice. Friendly staff, lots of kitchen facilities and everywhere was clean. It's not very close to the harbour, definitely need to grab the 555 bus which is free and transports you from central station to circular quay.
