Sprawling over three floors with great bars and traditional pub accommodation, the Grand's prime location is within 200 metres of Sydney Harbour and walking distance from many iconic sightseeing destinations. An inviting ground floor oak-panelled bar is complimented by the maritime-themed 30 Knots on the first floor and a decadent menu to match. The Grand Hotel also has pub style accommodation available.

Booked thru Agoda was under the impression pay when you arrive agoda sent a email 5 days prior to our arrival stating they attempted to take the payment but payment failed I contacted the Grand hotel
explaining this they found the booking & told me the booking will be fine & could pay on arrival.
We we arrived to check in they couldn't find the booking after about 1 hour later they offered us a twin room I also asked about our accommodation for our return trip the manager said it will be fine.
After spending 2 days in Canberra we returned to the hotel to find out there was no booking after I rang the hotel in the morning they had no booking for us the manager said on the phone he would book us in for the 2 nights we wanted
On arrival to the hotel no booking for our 2 nights spoke to the duty manager she told us that they could only offer us a room for 1 night not happy she mentioned another hotel down the road we called them but was booked out after speaking to the manager we took the room for the 1 night & we booked another hotel at Darling Harbour for the other night the manager offered us a free meal at the restaurant that we took up nice restaurant our meals were roughly valed at $150.00 all drinks encluded nice meal
The rooms are not air-conditioned very dated bathrooms small only 2 bathrooms & 2 toilets on the floor.
The elevator is old you have to open & close the doors manually very heavy doors very awkward when handling your luggage.
Also the lift was out of service on the last night we were there I had to walk up to the 5th floor as the elevator was stuck at the basement someone (staff) didn't close the doors completely so the elevator was stuck there.
The rooms were clean

After a 9hr international flight I came to try and acquire a room for the night. I must admit I came two hours before check in in the hope of checking early which was (somewhat understandly) denied. However the staff here were disinterested and hardly compassionate. The manner and tone of the man (who I assume was manager) who interacted with could be described as gruff and demeaning. Having come from Asia were friendliness and quality customer service is the norm at hotels 1 tenth of the price of The Grand, I found this off putting and soured my stay. The room itself was clean and basic though sufficient for a few nights rest but a smile, some hospitality and a warm welcome could have made my stay so much better.

Very run down and basic. My room had stains, wet carpet and a sink that got water everywhere and the shared bathrooms and showers aren't in the best conditions at all. I didn't feel comfortable using them and then had to wait a while to have a shower. The lift was hard to use so we mainly used the stairs, which is not great if you have luggage and mobility issues. The staff were lovely though and the location is brilliant.

Booked through Agoda on 4th June and received confirmation on the same day for 2 nights stay from 16-18 June but alas when we arrived at the hotel, they could not find the booking. Check in time was 2pm and we waited for more than an hour before we were told that Agoda would be calling me which I refused to answer as I was not willing to pay for oversea call charges. The hotel manager then told me that he would upgrade me to a family room for the night but they were fully booked for the 17th meaning I had to find another night accomodation again. Naturally I was upset as it took me some time to find another room and Agoda did not even have the courtesy to apologize. Moreover the refund that they would be making to me was on their website to be used by 24th July. Dan the hotel manager was very apologetic and even offered us drinks on the house but we declined. As for the hotel it is centrally located and nearby Tram stop, Wynyard Station and Circular Quay. Rooms were outdated but clean and separate bathroom and shower across from room as you only have a sink in the room. The lift is an antique with heavy doors and an experience to use! Kettle with free coffee and tea was inside the clothes cupboard. Most importantly, the location is perfect for walking around the city!!!!

We were staying nearby at the Radisson Blu Hotel and wanted to try some pub food for dinner. A hotel attendant suggested this place around the corner. We checked out the menu online and it seemed okay.
I'm not sure if it's a real hotel or not, but we went there to eat. When we got to the pub, we visited all three floors and couldn't find a place to sit. We decided to leave, but on our way down checked the first floor again for a table. Alas, there was one being vacated.
It is a pub, and it seems to be popular for the after-work crowd. So, it's very noisy but still possible to have a conversation.
We ordered the calamari appetizer; the lamb mince pie that came with mashed potatoes, gravy, and peas; and the fish and chips that also came with peas.
The calamari was hot and crispy and very delicious. The fish and chips were really good. But the fish really needed some malt vinegar, something they don't offer.
The mince pie was divine, succulent and seasoned just right. The best thing, though, were the chips (AKA French fries). They're probably the best French fries I've ever had. Apparently they're bought frozen, fried, and then coated in some sort of salt and seasoning before being served. I scarfed down more than my share without any ketchup (also not available).
The appetizer and two meals cost about 70 Australian dollars. Probably cheaper than a couple of drinks (which seemed to average more than $20 each). We made sure to drop a 10-note in the tip jar for the very friendly and efficient staff.

Dirty room without aircondition. Old dirty carpet with insects (møl), bad smell and broken lamp/bad light. As the rooms are related to a bar down stairs floors were greasy from old beer, banana flies and lots of noise till late. Finally, the owner and staff were unpleasant. Most likely among the worst places I have tried. Even made my daughter cry.

Check in at Bar 2:30pm. Friendly service. Old fashioned manual door lift up to room, adds charm! Room tidy with tv, fan (no air con), single bed and sink. Shared bathroom nearby. Stayed for an event in city so only needed somewhere to crash until morning trains. Had a few nightcaps late in the bar downstairs. Was appreciated. All staff were very polite and allowed me one final drink at last order.
Price was right on Agoda. Cheapest i could find for own room. Location is ace nearby Tram stop, Wynyard Station and Circular Quay. Will stay again for a city visit.

Fantastic location, fantastic price!
Worn, but immaculatly clean.
Delightful people, tiny pub on street level, larger one with nice menu up a floor.
The street noise mentioned in all the other reviews was an issue due to construction, which was all over downtown, but what city doesn't have construction.
Many huge historical pictures with explanations lined the streets.
Breakfast room, pool table, nice little extras we didn't expect. We love unique, so The Grand suited us.

Rooms don't have a bathroom. They are outside the room and you share with other guests. ... even the showers are shared.
No but there is a fan in the corner of the room
Don't think the Hotel has parking, and it's the CBD so no street parking. Best you can do is the Wilson Parking underneath the Australia Square tower
