The hostel is very central and compared to the others it's quite cheap, but the rooms aren't very clean, the common room isn't too big/nice and the kitchen is WAY too small. If you're low on money this is a good option, but if you're going for a place where you can meet other backpackers I'd skip this one.

Filthy rooms, unfriendly residents, the kitchen was unusable with no utensils and incredibly dirty. Bathrooms were coated in hair and never cleaned (we showered with shoes on), people smoked indoors, the staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful and there was no area to leave our bags so we had to carry them around the city all day. Stayed in many...

The place was rough. Didn't look like it had been cleaned in weeks. Common room was unwelcoming, no chill-out areas and the kitchen was a joke. Can't imagine 5 people cooking there, never mind 20! And what's the deal with the pillows? Ended up using the blanket instead, no noise.

First time in Sydney for me. I arrived late in the evening, but there was no key for my room available. When i finally had a key, my bed didn't have a pillow. They fixed it for me by getting a pillow from another room so the next person would have the same problem. There were two showers and two...

Filthy bathrooms, hair all on ground, 2/3 toilets hardly flushed, stuffy rooms, plastic on pillows, elevator is so slow was quicker taking the stairs and we were on the 4th floor, just trust me stay somewhere else!

Wlan 7/24 ok. Bed and Pillow are covered in plastic and make loud noise everytime you move. Uncomfortable mattress. Small rooms. The kitchen is extremly small, not even big enough for three people and dirty. Unfriendly staff. Toilets and showers dirty. Rooftop is ok. Building is old.

I had my GoPro stolen out of my locker as someone left our dorm door open. There was no staff in the building from 11pm till 7am so no one could help me. Filthy rooms that stank of urine. My bedding stank and I used my sleeping bag instead. Had permanent people living in the room I could barely see...

Turned up to this hostel with high expectations as we were excited to begin our trip around Australia. Wow, talk about coming down with a bang. Arrived early morning and sat and waited to check in, we were given our keys and opened our door. We didn't realise we had booked the special room which included a Chinese woman already...

Booked this hostel for our first stop off on our travel around australia. Unfortunately we had a delayed flight which meant we wouldnt make the first night of our booking. We emailed sydney backpackers to state that we would not be there for our first night of booking, understood that we would still have to pay for it and that...

The location is great, you just walk five minutes to the train station, and it's convenient to take a stroll in the city. The room is clean and tidy, and there's a kitchen. The bathroom and shower is separated. I have stayed in several backpacks before, this one really surprises me! Everything is clean and makes you feel comfortable.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
