When staying at Sofitel for a week, I was pleased with the cleanliness and quality of the room in which I stayed. I didn't hear any outside noises and the complimentary amenities were of a high quality. The view was somewhat left to be desired (viewing the back of another building), however I wasn't staying in the hotel for a view so was alright with this.

The restaurant on level 5 was fantastic, with the gnocchi being a highlight for me!

I did have a few issues with the service - reservations had incorrectly booked me to have 2 rooms on Monday and none on Sunday rather than booking one room Friday to Thursday. This took between 30-60 minutes at the front desk to sort out, and still not charged correctly based on my requirements (Friday to Sunday booked personally, Monday to Thursday booked for work).

My card was then charged for minibar usage at the end of my stay, even though I had paid this upon checkout (this was resolved quickly once I called up to dispute the additional charge, however it did dampen my experience given the reservation issue).

Overall a good experience, maybe I was unlucky to have the issues that I had. I would go back and stay at Sofitel again.

I choose this hotel as a solo traveller as I wanted to be in a very central location close to Circular Quays and the ferries. I have no major complaints: the bed was very comfortable and the room clean. I did not have breakfast in the hotel so I cannot comment on the quality of the food offered. The only negative mark is the policy of having to pay a $75 per day of deposit which is refundable 5 days after the check-out. This is quite unusual as hotels can charge the credit card in case of damages. To conclude, a good choice and I would come back if in Sydney.

Bonjour ElisabethMon, It is lovely to hear that you found our location to be central and that you enjoyed your recent stay in Sydney. I have taken on board your comments regarding the pre-authorization amount. It is a common procedure within hotels whilst the amount differs between properties. Second stay in this lovely, traditional hotel. Enjoyed great location, spacious design, excellent service, good food, very pleasant room. But one problem... Room situated on 6th floor directly above restaurant, and twice a day (coinciding with breakfast and dinner times), couple of hours of extremely irritating noise from metal chairs constantly scraping on tiled floor. Staff sympathetic, even ordered free bottle of fizz as compensation. But noise persisted.
Question is why hotel hasn't done something to avoid this problem: rubber tips on legs of chairs? rug or carpet on tiles? Or is it cheaper to hand out bottles of wine to guests who complain?

Given the prestige and location of this hotel we were expecting an experience to remember however whilst we have memories they are only poor ones. The first issue arose on our arrival in our room was no hot water which we duly notified to reception who seemed confused and unable to grasp this very basic English language. We never received an explanation or advise that the situation was rectified so I had to go out without a shower, we later went to dinner and the food was ok without being great except for the chicken main meal that we had to send back as it was inedible. The following morning we went to have showers but again there was no cold water which in addition to lining up for breakfast was extremely annoying. On check out we we explained what had happened and were given a $50 reduction on our stay. If I had a opportunity to go to the city again for an evening I would suggest a Uber home would be far better value than staying here.

We stayed 5 nights prior to a New Zealand cruise. The hotel and lobby look great, but need major renovation as the carpets are soiled. The breakfast is pricey at $40 unless you order in advance and then $25, The location is great and close to everything you want and the staff is friendly. they charge a significant deposit dailey.

Had a 2 nights stay at the Sofitel Sydney.
It was good. No problem. They have valet parking available at $60 per 24hrs. I think the welcoming can be improved, when compared to other hotels.
Otherwise, everything was good. The location is great as it's in the middle of Sydney city and shops and restaurants are just steps away.

This hotel may call itself a Sofitel but is no longer at the level of service, facilities or room standards. from check in process to check out what this Hotel and staff achieved was mistake after mistake to the point when my flight was cancelled I checked into the Novotel Darling Harbour10 times better rooms and service. Check in was poor, the room provided dated, not as clean as you would expect a premium hotel, a toilet seat with rubbers only on one side, mold in the shower. As an Accor Gold member I was asked to fill a form out to choice a gift. I was told to drop it back at reception. They delivered this to my room at 6.45am in the morning with a loud knock even with a do not disturb sign on the door. A porter standing there with a gift. Getting back to the hotel in the early hours you do not want to be woken up. When I raised this with the manager she apologized and credit 500 Accor points a nothing gestor. So not the best start, we have lunch in the hotel SOIRÉE BAR an I ask for a lactose free flat white which they say they have lactose free milk, one hour after being served this is was not lactose free! We go to a show and get back at 10pm I try and order room service to find its shut even when the photo copy QR code states room service shuts at 11pm. Not happy.
We ask about breakfast for the next morning advised that it was buffet at $47 per head thought step put french pastries etc my wife would like this after nothing to eat since 4pm. The fruit and the juice we nice, when the poached eggs cook for you, could be used as squash balls and muffins as hockey pucks, bread under proofed, dim sims that must of been cooking for hours, add that they could nt even get a standard normal coffee right for my wife just added furth insult. When we checked out i was not ask if I enjoyed my stay etc. Just told account would be emailed to me.
On leaving my wife commented that the hotel advertised that they were using French toiletries Balmain Paris and they were actually using appells which is not the same standard. Just more misleading practices. A hotel that markets as the arts and musical hotel does nt even serve food when the events get out. We left Sofitel on Collins with expectational service to check into a hotel of the same standard to get below ibis budget standard service. The hotel managed to impact my health, reduced my enjoyment of my break because it couldnt get the basics right which is unacceptable staff care factor zero.

Quarantined here for 14 days after arriving from overseas. Room and bed were very, very comfortable and given that's all I saw for 2 weeks, was very happy. A limited room service menu provided priced like a 7/11, not like a 5 star hotel. Very kind. Room decor warm and homely, something often lacking in the modern, sterile, minimalist hotels. I prefer warm and homely. Meals were provided and excellent, I assume prepared by the hotel. Every light in my room worked so kudos to housekeeping. So often hotel rooms have the odd blown bulb not replaced. Of course my stay managed by government but my few telephone requests with hotel staff were dealt with professionally and very kindly. Room views aren't much more than other adjacent buildings but this was made up for by the comfort and standard of the room. Overall, would happily stay at this hotel when the world returns to normal, choice then being at my convenience rather than the authorities.

My husband and I tried the gin tasting at Soirée. Even though we hadn’t booked (we weren’t aware we needed to) they were able to accommodate us after a 10 min wait while they set everything up. We have experienced a few gin tastings but this was particularly good. There were 4 Australian gins to try which came on a wooden board in 4 gorgeous round short-stemmed glasses accompanied by 4 small gin glasses in which to sample the gin. In each of the small glasses were “botanicals” such as a spring of rosemary and a piece of orange plus a bottle of Cascade tonic water and a glass of ice cubes. We were instructed to try each gin neat then pour it into the small glass with the accompanying botanical and add ice. After trying each one again we then added tonic water. There were notes on each gin we tried. We were also given some snacks with our tasting which was greatly appreciated. We were served by a friendly and knowledgeable barman which enhanced our experience. It was a fun way to spend an hour in a comfortable setting on a very wet afternoon and I’d recommend it those who love a G & T.

Two night stay. First night went well. Second night we came in late from New Years Eve event to find the shoe caddy from the floor of the closet on our unmade bed, and used towels still on the floor. Too late to call housekeeping. Next morning had to wash out the tea cups used from prior afternoon to have coffee in room in the morning.
