Spent a few days in Sydney before heading out on a tour of Uluru and Alice Springs. The friend I was travelling with was staying nearby and decided to book this hotel. I almost didm't when I read the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are old style and basic but my room was really big with high ceilings... More

Went to a work function and decided to book a night at Wattle Hotel to save us traveling back home after a late night in the city. We booked the penthouse the view was beautiful but for the money you spend I would recommend you fixing several things so you have guests that come back and stay again. The entrance... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights while traveling Oz. We chose it due to being the cheapest for the location, and you get a great deal for the price. I was worried after reading previous negative reviews on TA, but the owners must have made some changes as now the rooms did not match the previous description.... More

I agree with every criticism of this hotel. We also booked the penthouse. What a joke!! It was a room ontop of the roof that is clearly falling apart. I would strongly suggest that the hotel owners spurge and buy Exit Mould as the ceiling was covered in mould as was the shower. For $150 for one night this hotel... More

Entrance to this seedy hotel is between a bottle shop and a sex shop. The towels and bed linen were clean, but the absolutely everything else was filthy. I found a takeaway container in the room with mould growing out of it. I informed reception and asked for it to be removed. There was no apology and no-one came to... More

Great location and roof top Terrance but that's the only good things about this place. The air conditioning didn't work. There was an iron burn on the floor. Missing tiles on the bathroom floor. Extremely dated styling. If you want a dirty drinking weekend it's great value. But beyond that I wouldn't recommend this place!

The price was right and I thought the penthouse would be a bit more luxurious. The views from the roof are great as is the location. However, staff is unfriendly and unwilling to provide wofi password even tho room was advertised to have free wi-fi. I was told that was only avilable at the front desk but not on the... More

Spent 1 night in standard room for work (located 200mtrs down oxford st) so it was a great location, but that was the only good thing. The room we stayed in was on the first floor, and had stained carpets, mould, and broken light switches. The bathroom was filthy, and the hot water tap was broken and just sitting on... More

On Oxford, between Taylor Square and Crown St. Great for the gay traveller who wants to be smack bang in the middle of it all. I got the family room to myself for a last minute discount and it had 3 beds, couch, tv. The Asian boys who were manning the reception were helpful and friendly enough.

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
