Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We ate here last night and it's a great little Bar/Pub. Very friendly place and the staff were nice. Good selection of beers, Great food and not too expensive. The Deco inside felt like a pub. Great Location just around the corner from the Bridge. (the street at night is full of fruit bats, very cool to see if you love your nature and animals.

Travelled 2800km across Australia during our 3 week visit. Best pub we came across. Great beers, great staff, historic building and lovely landlord. Thankyou. Brilliant end to our Aussie adventure. If your in Sydney, give it a try, you won’t regret it

Terrible experience with poor customer service. Arrived at The Lord Nelson after a recommendation from a friend. Our dinning reservation had been transferred to a bar reservation without advising us. If we had wanted bar food, we would have booked a table in the bar. Having drinks at the bar when the manager knocked over a large picture frame on the bar which smashed my wine glass showering me and my partner with wine and glass. My clothes were drenched and sticky from the wine. Instead of apologising the Manager, Celine, barked at me asking what I had been drinking. I continued to look shocked and was shown no genuine concern. My partner pointed out that an apology was required and when this was not forthcoming he asked for another beer by way of compensation in lieu of dry cleaning that would be required. The manager Celine then accused him of being aggressive. It was clear there was a fear factor of the manager and other staff. This is not the customer service we would expect from anyone let alone the Manager.

Super dining room upstairs, well worth going to LNB. Delicious meal - seafood spaghetti was amazing. Good wine list and of course their own brew which is honestly very good. We went early and the dining room filled very quickly. Because it is stonework and brick it could be noisy but the tables have sufficicnet space between so it was comfortable. We will return and whether we sit upstairs or in the bar/dining area, I know we will enjoy it.

Although this hotel was conveniently located near the Rocks and Circular Quay, it seems to be mainly a pub and restaurant venue which also hosts private functions. Our room (202) was located directly above the restaurant and the pub outdoor seating. It was extremely noisy both Saturday and Sunday nights till about 11:00PM, with noise continuing after those hours on the street nearby. Our room also seemed to get smoke from the outdoor seating. Management did not reply to messages about the noise, and we were not offered an alternate room. While the bar staff were sympathetic, they were not able to offer any solution. Guest accommodation seems to be an afterthought here with no consideration given to hotel guests who are there mainly to sleep. Despite the convenient location, we would recommend finding other - quieter - accommodation in this neighbourhood.

Went on a whim and was glad we did. Super friendly staff and good craft beers. It's not like Portland good, but still pretty good. Stick with the light stuff. They still need work on their porters and stouts. Typical pub food, tasty, filling and fried. Can get crowded pretty much any day of the week, so go earlier rather than later, but it also empties out about 9.00pm on weekdays.

This place, located in The Rocks, is the oldest continuously operated pub in Sydney. Go there to soak up the history, but stay for the great food and drinks. We loved the hamburgers and Greek salad. So much that we ate there twice in our visit to Sydney! We even enjoyed the beer tasting and shared several flights.

The Lord Nelson was an amazing place to stay in Sydney. Easy to walk to the Quay, bridge, downtown. As two women, we felt very safe walking in the neighborhood. The pub was a happening place in the evenings and the hotel room was good. Beware that there is no lift.

Headed over to this place after walking over the Harbour Bridge. You need a cold pint after all that walking. One of the oldest pubs around. They brew their own beers. Lady bartender was super nice. We gave her our likings, and she suggested some good beer matches. Got the 3 Sheets. Crisp and refreshing. Also got the Nelson Blood Porter. Dark beer, rich and creamy. Great place to take pictures of all the history. This is a must place to come to, especially if you are in holiday. Cheers.

Went here with my wife to catch up with a friend. Really lovely old traditional pub. The beers here are amazing and worth visiting to try on their own. Had some snack food plates too and they were very nice (bread with anchovies, chicken wings, and cauliflower pakoras). Would recommend a visit.
