Not much positive to say about the hostel other then the location. It was only a couple of minutes walk to the tube and main street in Kings Cross. Now for the not so good stuff. I stayed in a double room which was ok size. It was very hot as there was only a small fan on the wall....

Good atmosphere. Staff lay on lots of activities and we particularly liked the fish and chip supper evening on Wednesday - for A$5 you could not do better anywhere in Sydney. The facilities are good and the hostel is clean and well run. There is a 24 hour reception so you really can book in and out whenever you need...

Room smells like someone urinated in here, no place to hang out and I've been told to stop playing my guitar in my room at 8pm absolutely outrageous, do not stay here, there's no vibe, just a boring nothing hostel. On top of that cockroaches everywhere, no aircon, hot as hell, small cramped rooms, they should demolish the place.

Too little space for too many people. You actually step on somebody when you go out the toilet and there was no room to sit down to eat the breakfast provided. Dirty and non functional. No room in the lockers on our check out day. On top they charged our card twice the amount and we have to go back...

disgustingly hot at this time of year, unfriendly, breakfast is a disgrace with mould on the bread, charged to leave bags before check in and after check out, overall just not a great place or location, wouldn't recommend.

Pigsty is the first word that comes to my mind when I think of this place. Of the 13 hostels I stayed in while in Australia this ranks at the bottom. I was in a 3 person room on the 4 floor (walk up). The other 2 occupants had been there for a while and had taken up every available...

Right in the heart of Kings Cross so always plenty going on but rooms don't have too much noise from the street. Common areas are a bit on the small side and the kitchen gets very busy at times. Annoying having to swap your key every time you wanted a pan. But lovely people and staff really helpful. Clean sheets...

IN GENERAL Overall we enjoyed our stay at Jolly Swagman. In general, the place has a nice and friendly atmosphere and the staff were helpful. It's location was good, close to the train station, bus stops and both Woolworths and Coles. There was also ample information in the hostel for activities and days out. The only general negatives are that...

The staff here is great. They are all very friendly and helpful. I had a last minute change of plans and they helped me out as best they could, which I greatly appreciate. My 6 bed dorm was spacious but I lucked out and got one on the ground level. The ones upstairs looked cramped. Good airflow in the room...

The hostel was fine and lively but had to go to the 1st floor to use a bathroom that wasnt behind a locked door. Also it was very hot with only a small fan to try and keep the room cool. It was good having 24hr reception and also a badic but free breakfast. Good easy location to train station.
