This place was booked through my work and was a great location for the conference I was attending. The hotel is in an older building of yester year and the decor is fashioned on a times gone past. The service at the front desk was fine, nothing to rave about. My room was quiet small but it was fine for...

Dear Perth_family_guy, I was very pleased to learn from your review that you overall enjoyed your recent stay at the Castlereagh particularly due to classical atmosphere of our rooms and the strategic central location of our establishment, which does indeed allow easy access to Sydney’s historic monuments and downtown area within walking distance. I was very glad to also read...

There are some great things about the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel. And some not so great things. The building is a Masonic Hall and the hotel was originally lodgings for members (with active lodges still occuring in the upper floors). The history of the building is one of the great things. The location is excellent. It's not overly priced. All good....

What's good about this hotel? The location. What's bad? Pretty much everything else. It is so old fashioned and not in a charming or stylish way. The room was small and a bit dingy. The TV was on the window sill so could only be watched with the curtains open. I was on floor 9 and the street noise was...

We stayed at the Castlereagh for 4 nights and loved it. It was a great CBD location, handy to shopping! and very easy to hail a taxi from in front. We had a wonderful room at the front that overlooked Castlereagh Street. Our stay here was at the start of a 4 week road trip and my husband says that...

The hotel has a small gazebo entrance and lobby and lovely Art Deco style, with some 1980's painting/renovating. The dining room is gorgeous but under-utilised and only open for lunch 3 days per week. They specialise in functions apparently and had a great Melbourne Cup luncheon. The rooms are small but clean with large bathrooms and for $230/night slept 3...

Really nice facade to the hotel but the rooms are pretty small ...in fact too small, dated, and the windows look like they have been bricked in, not a pleasant environment, bed was comfortable, but small. No drop off outside the hotel, even though the taxi driver did, but it was at our risk, slowest elevator in the known world...

This hotel we came about by chance last weekend, but what a find, location is excellent, the service was great, and the ambience was amazing. The rooms are modern in facilities but yet tastefully decor from the 50's and 60's. If you love the Australian television show 'A Place to Call Home' you will love this hotel. Stayed after coming in on a cruise and found this hotel to be very quiet. Pleasant but smaller rooms but still very comfortable. Counter staff happy to look after our bags until the room was ready and quick to indicate places of interest on a local map. Hotel well appointed. We loved the heritage fittings throughout the hotel.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
