Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Rendezvous Hotel Sydney The Rocks offers spacious rooms and comfortable beds that many guests enjoy, alongside its coveted location near Circular Quay. Traveler opinions are mixed on value, with some finding it reasonable and others questioning the cost relative to quality. Staff are generally commended for their friendliness, though service inconsistencies have been noted.
While the hotel's cleanliness is satisfactory, calls for modernization and improved upkeep are common. The bustling atmosphere and proximity to attractions come with the trade-off of potential noise.

Less than 10 minutes to wharfs and trams. Lots of shopping and restaurants near by as well as street fairs selling all kinds of stuff from food to jewelry.

Great for a quick convenient trip to this part of Sydney.
The rooms are a bit out dated and the bathrooms qualify as olde timey, but all the important boxes are ticked - comfy bed, blackout curtains, fantastic location, great shower water temp and pressure, extremely clean
Great for quick trips and /or when you aren’t planning to lounge around in your room but spend time out doing fun things. Fantastic location easy to get in and out of, easy walking distance to Sydney Theatre Company and great restaurants. (It would be a longer walk if you were to go around the quay to the opera house, but a gentle scenic one)
You can go down to circular quay if you are happy for the hustle and bustle or stick to cosy little corner pubs if you prefer a quieter drink before or after a show.
The location means you can spend your whole time away from the hectic businessy parts of the city if you want.
Parking is not actually run by the hotel but is externally run by Wilson - it is in the same building though, you just take a ticket as normal on entry and have the reception validate it when you leave to get the rate the hotel advertises. Entrance to the hotel is via a lift on the level you drive in on and down the end where the entrance ramp is. They really should add those details to the description. There also didn’t seem to be any extra blankets. We didn’t need them, but worth knowing if it is a cooler evening.
The room cleanliness was spot on.

Recently stayed the night in Sydney at the Rendezvous At the Rocks.
We had a room on the 6th floor with an amazing view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House(after the QE2 departed)
The room was clean and very comfortable, everything you need to stay was available
The pool area looked amazing although we didn't use it, but lots of people were sitting in the lounge area having drinks, near the pool.
We found Al camino just a short stroll away which had a great Margarita happy hour with free salsa and corn chips.
We so enjoyed our stay we hope to go back and stay again during Vivid!

Although the location in the Rocks are of Sydney is great especially if you are going on a cruise make sure the room does not smell of mould or the air conditioner does not leak . This experience certainly damped the start to the holiday. The manager made it worse by promising something he did not deliver on.

We previously stayed at this hotel 5 years ago so we were happy for our travel agent to book us 3 nights due to its location.
We were given a room on the 2nd floor which overlooked a public footpath and an old building and all we could hear was the drilling and banging from building site next door of which no mention was made to us when we arrived.
On walking into the room we just did not want to stay, it looked dirty, cheap and we did not feel comfortable with it. We asked to be moved but were told it was full but we could move the following day to a room on the 5th floor over looking the Central Quay, however the cost was 130 dollars to do so. We agreed but had one not been available we would have booked out and found another hotel.
The following day we moved to the other suite, it was fine however, it could do with a good clean and a lick of paint.
Felt the hotel seems a bit run down and needs modernizing and redecorating. It is in an ideal location for central Sydney.
Overall disappointed and doubt when we return again we would stay here.
We could not fault the staff on reception, they were pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is in a great location especially for theatres in the wharf area, seeing The Rocks etc, but it really needs a lot of maintenance on the rooms. The air con is very noisy and the lounges very worn. Bed was comfortable and the staff were nice.

The staff were excellent, and bathroom and bedroom were well fitted out. However the room was very cold, and there was no electric blanket on the bed. I had to contact reception about the heating (or lack of it) and also request two extra doonas. My other issue is that the glasses, cups and plates were in extremely high cupboards above the bench that I could not reach. In particular the glasses were particularly in accessiblefir 5'2 people like myself because they were stored in a high cupboard above over the stove extraction vent. Most hotels would have a tray for glasses and cups kept on the bench next to the kettle. I'd suggest that the hotel consider doing that to help its shorter guests.

Lovely spacious 1 bedroomedapartment on the top floor with large verandah overlooking Sydney Harbour, Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Had to report dangerous condition of paving slabs on verandah as some wobbly and also protruding at odd angles. Dangerous trip hazard. Also verandah should be independently lit. Light from lounge or bedroom can help but leaving curtains open for this attracted insects.
Also bathroom shower area would have benefitted from a deep clean with anti-fungal liquid or bleach as tiles, grouting and glass quite black in places.
Mini bar not available in room only by ordering specifics via reception. Presume dishonest guests previously.
However, staff very friendly and available 24 hours.
We would stay here again despite these little grumbles

My wife and I treated ourselves to our first weekend city staycation after the madness of the recent COVID months and with the second wave in Melbourne, we were a little nervous about the trip. However, the Rendevous Hotel handled the "new normal" with ease, and from the point of check-in to check-out, the attention to sanitising detail was impressive and reassuring. We always felt safe, from the plastic bagged TV remotes, the plentiful hand sanitiser and the sensible social distancing. Apart from needing a few USB charging points, the stay was professional and we would not hesistate to go back again for our next weekend stay.

Lady checking us in was wonderful... nice and friendly.
Was a bit disappointed in our room....we were on level
2 which was actually ground level and the positioning of our room meant our “balcony” was a small fenced off area in the back alley (walkway), with no chairs or anything, which people walked past a lot (which meant we couldn’t go out to the “balcony” or keep the door open and def couldn’t keep the curtains open as people would literally walk right past the windows and see into our room. We also had construction work going on right opposite our “balcony”/windows which was a bit loud and workers again could also see in into our room if we opened the curtains. I know it was not hotels fault there was construction but hotel wasn’t full so feel we should have been allocated a room elsewhere, even just from the fact that people walking past could see in our room).
We also had 2 friends checked into 2 separate rooms and they both had couches in their rooms (rooms booked for 1 adult) yet our room which was booked for 2 adults had no couch which was a bit disappointing and strange that 2 people in a room wouldn’t get a couch to sit on yet a single person in a room would. (As we were all staying there for our work Christmas party we requested rooms near to each other but we were on 3 separate floors which was also disappointing but not a major issue).
In the morning also had to request fresh towels twice as after first requesting and waiting nearly an hour they never came so had to request a 2nd time. When delivered cleaner apologized for the wait and was lovely though.
Although we did not see many staff, the ones we were were lovely.

Dear rachelsE7725NU, Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Your feedback is greatly appreciated as we are always striving to improve our offering. It is terrific to read that you enjoyed our services! The room type you had booked was a Standard Studio which do not usually have balconies, but for your next stay with us, I would highly recommend booking one of our Harbourview studios with a balcony. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon! Regards, Management

You need a power point adapter due to different socket pins + be aware that Australian electricity is 240 volts not 110 therefore you will need a transformer to step down to 110 v.
Hi there
There is 6 floors of rooms that are available by lift access
The building is not tall so even getting a room at the highest floor may not guarantee a view of the fireworks that is entirely unobstructed by the other buildings nearby. But you can still put in a request for a high floor.
