Fabulous location, great rooms spacious and clean. Not sure about all the dogs staying at the hotel, but perhaps this is becoming more the norm in Australia than it used to be. The only disappointing thing was the hotel bar would close very early. We would come back from dinner and wanting a couple of drinks prior to bed and it would close. Not sure as it was not late and there were plenty of people sitting int he bar area.

We would have loved to give Pier One five stars but at this price point it needs to be a close to perfect and this is where Pier One fell over. We'd read reviews where people who had booked the luxury package had problems and we had them too. The good - the front podium and bar staff (these staff were great), 10% Bonvoy discount on f&b, the location, sitting out on the wharf watching the sunset, the room - we booked a Walsh Bay view room and from room 341 we got a view of Walsh Bay and the western harbour, sadly through a really dirty window. Room was big, great bathroom and bathroom products, really comfy bed, amazing minibar. The dirty window slips into the bad. You are paying a lot of money to stay here, and extra for harbour view, and if you have a view of the harbour it should be a clear view. Windows are hard to keep clean but when a view is part of the selling point you need to see it clearly. At $42 the breakfast is an expensive buffet. The choices were limited and the staff disorganised. The just weird - as part of the package you get a bottle of wine and $100 f&b credit. The credit was applied but the bottle of wine just didn't happen, despite asking for it four times over two days. Ok, it kind of happened. A half bottle of wine, the same as in the minibar, did turn up on our last night but a half bottle is not what you expect when a 'bottle of wine' is included. I posted about this on Instagram, received an apology and provided our home address so that a 'nice bottle of wine' could be sent. I also received a call from a front office manager as our invoice had also gone astray. He also mentioned the wine. After two weeks I followed up wondering if the wine had been sent. I didn’t get a response to my message but today a very lovely bottle of wine arrived. It's this lack of follow-up that makes you choose somewhere else next time you visit a place, and also not recommend it to others. A short message goes a long way. Would we stay again? Maybe, because it is a beautiful hotel in an amazing location. We’d just not book any kind of package because it shouldn't be up to us to make sure it's delivered.

My husband and I stayed here recently. What a treat ! The building is heritage listed and the renovation has been done with total respect of the buildings history. We had a room on the third floor and as you step out of the elevator you see an origianl wooden column that has been maintained. Then as you look down the corridor, you see all of the origianl wooden supports restored and in place. Just beautiful. We had an ocean view room and it was spectacular. The room itsels was also very roomy and comfortable. The ensuite was compact but very functional. We had a drink outside sitting on the wharf and watched the sun set. Next time we plan to try the restaurant as it too looked wonderful. Finally the staff were incredibly professional and attentive. Just a great stay on every aspect ! Cant wait to go bak

Booked a staycation here recently. I had requested for the room and valet parking and explained that it was for a 50th celebration. The staff in reservations and in concierge were exceptional. The communication, both by email and phone, were pleasant and they not only reassured me that everything would be fine but they went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant experience and stay at Pier One. In particular, Eugene was so amazing to us. He communicated with me regarding restaurant choices and even arranged for a bottle of sparkling and a dessert plate to be brought to our room to celebrate the special occasion. Our room, the waterview heritage room, was so pristine and had beautiful views of the harbour. Thank you Eugene and the staff at Pier One for making our stay so wonderfully memorable. We had an amazing experience.

Organised for my parents to stay at Pier One for my mum’s birthday and was really disappointed on the service standard & cleanliness of the hotel. The GSA’s on reception were unwelcoming & not very interested in assisting guests with questions. The room was nice, but dirty. The shower had mould in the grout & the drain cover was in the corner of the bathroom instead of covering the drain. We had to ask for water & coffee to be replenished in the room during turnover & found housekeeping had spilt something on the carpet and covered it with a stool while we were out. With that being said, the blonde bell desk attendant was lovely & she really tried to greet everyone in the lobby despite being busy (no staff wear badges so apologies for not knowing her name). Myah in Guest Services was fantastic and really went above & beyond to organise a surprise for my mum. Myah was definitely the highlight of our stay.
