My wife and I stayed on Friday night. I booked a Bed and Breakfast Package in a Deluxe, King, Harbour View Room to celebrate my 68th birthday. I usually travel overseas to celebrate our birthdays, but due to co-vid restrictions, we looked for a deluxe hotel in Sydney. I recall that this hotel was the principal Sydney hotel for the Orient Express and so it had been an important Sydney 5 star landmark for many years, and I always wanted to stay here. It was definitely worth the wait. The large room has all the historic features that you expect and is luxurious and homely. The firm, King bed is huge and has 6 large pillows to give maximum comfort to help anyone to get a great night's sleep. The plate of tasty macarons with a birthday message was a nice surprise. The yellow marble bathroom has two basins, a deep and long bath and a fantastic shower with twin heads. The bathroom scales are not working correctly in Room 124. They seem to give a different weight every time you weigh yourself. Mostly, it gave a weight for me at least 10 kg under my actual weight. Luxury carpet under your feet and an easily adjustable air conditioner add to your comfort. The large window gave good light and because there aren't any nearby buildings, we left our blinds open all night as well. I have read that the romantic sunsets on the western side of the building are worth requesting a harbour view room and so it is. On arrival at the hotel, we encountered Ms Yumi Kato at reception and we were very impressed by her warm, friendly and helpful assistance. Her first words to me were Happy Birthday. A great start to our stay. My wife enjoyed an early swim before breakfast. Breakfast is back to self service at the buffet and we enjoyed all the different foods available. Our concern with the breakfast service is that staff were not assigned to remove plates, when customers finish a course. We had a stack of 7 large used plates on our table and no-one came to remove them while we sat there. Also no-one asked if we wanted more tea or coffee, it seemed we were being restricted to only one pot. There seems to be some kind of "not my job" regime operating in the restaurant and that is just not up to 5 star standard, No one should return to the kitchen empty handed. Apart from a few glitches, our stay was very enjoyable and the things that irked us are easily fixed. The Metro Rail works outside did not have any effect on our stay as the walls are quite thick and do not let much noise in the room (unless you open a window). We will definitely stay again in at Harbour View Deluxe Room and a stay in this historic 5 star hotel is highly recommended.

Dear MWandAW, Thank you for taking the time to provide such extensive feedback following your birthday celebration at The Langham, Sydney. Your feedback is particularly important in helping us achieve our goal of 100% guest satisfaction. Whilst I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay, and were warmly welcomed by Yumi, I was disheartened to read that there were some aspects where we did not meet and exceed your expectations. I have noted your comments in regards to the service you received at breakfast, and the scales in the bathroom of your room. I will be following up with my management team to rectify these issues. Thank you for bringing them to my attention. On behalf of our entire team at The Langham, Sydney we thank you for your support, and I hope we can welcome you and your wife to celebrate your next special occasion, if not before. Kind regards, Shane Jolly General Manager The Langham, Sydney

Stayed here for a staycation with my daughter and my pooch. I must say we had the best experience. Everything was perfect from the start to the finish. Our nice doorman was so welcoming, having a chat about my dog. Our room was fantastic, the bed was so comfy. Even my puppy was pampered with beautiful branded bowls, his own bottled water and a soft comfy dog bed. Everything was so stylish and you can tell they paid a lot of attention to the smallest details. We ordered room service and it felt 5-stars. Our room desk was turned into a dining table, clothed with the best material tablecloth, sparkling cutleries and small jars of sauces. Food was really good and the service was second to none. Thank you for making our stay a very memorable one. We will definitely be back!

Pretentious and snooty without any class. That best describes the Langham Sydney. We arrived to check in and nobody at the entrance to take the car or assists with bags. No problem, we made our way to the desk and the attitude of both staff members behind the counter was terrible. They seemed completely disengaged and pretty much reciting a written script.
Checked in into the room and the cleanliness was dubious at best. quite dusty and it didn't feel like it had been cleaned properly from the previous guests.
Decide to leave the room and go for a cocktail in the bar. The place is deserted and the service is again flat. Took 25 minutes for 2 cocktails. the cocktails were not made properly and averaging around 25% more expensive than you would get elsewhere.
For dinner, we had planned to go to the hotel restaurants but after our experiences, we decided to give it a pass. It was again deserted and the layout was really weird, like some cheap airport lounge. We went to a place at the rocks and loved it. great food, service, atmosphere and all that for a fraction of the price we would have paid at the Langham.
Breakfast was disappointing in the morning and we decided that it was it. They wouldn't see another dollar from us. To the extent that after our second night, before check out we went out for breakfast elsewhere although breakfast was included in our rate.
To top things up, the entire area is under construction which is noisy and dusty.
Upon waiting for our car to be brought back to the front of the hotel, the valet didn't wear any protective gloves or sanitise our car before we took it back from them, You would think that with COVID, they'd be a bit more conscientious.
Overall, it was a series of bad service and bad product. I am not usually one to complain but spending over $1000 for 2 nights accommodation and 2 cocktails and receiving the experience we received is disgusting. No wonder the place was a ghost town. If they care about everyone as little as what we were cared for, they won't get much return business. Whoever runs this establishment should be ashamed.

This is a beautiful hotel, as soon as you pull up in your car you have staff helping you straight away. Check in was smooth and the staff very friendly. We went straight to our room and wow. The room was very large with a huge king size bed and those pillows you want to steel. the ensuite was very large with a great shower and beautiful fluffy towels that suck the moister right off your body. The location is excellent, 7 minute walk to the hart of the Rocks. Some of the oldest Pubs in Australia are only minutes away. Cant wait to come back for another visit.

We stayed at the Langham for 4 nights and did all the Sydney things there is to do. We really enjoyed the small feel of this high end hotel. We asked for a top floor room so we could have a balcony and yes they have a huge construction project going on between the hotel and that side of the harbor. We didn't mind and watched the construction as well the boats going to and from here and there. We ate room service a bit and top notch. I would suggest getting package with breaky if you eat a big breakfast as the breakfast is pretty high end and expensive. Nothing basic here and I'm not a huge breakfast eater. Coffee was just to die for and best flat white I had in the city while there.
Although not as central located as some of the other larger high end hotels, it was easy to get around. 15 min walk to circular Quay to get the ferry or train or bus or go see opera house or just watch the tourists down there. Quick jaunt to The Rocks and you have cafes and pubs galore.
So why not 5 stars? The room we stayed in is in desperate need of paint and some TLC. Still very, very comfy and clean and everything in perfect working order. Just time for a spiff up. Otherwise a solid 5 stars.
A big shout out to the staff. Especially the front door staff. Julie and the "ice cream" man, who greats you with a bowl of ice cream when you come back in the evening.
Excellent spa and pool. Gym was well equipped and I used daily.

My partner surprised me with a few days away at The Langham
It was wonderful from the second we walked in. We arrived at about 930am and luckily were able to check into the room then which was massively appreciated.
The room was beautiful with a huge comfortable bed and a view over the new casino and water which we loved. The bathroom was lovely with a bath almost the size of a small pool! Lovely fluffy towels, bathrobes, complimentary water, tea and coffee (Nespresso machine) it was all so comfortable.
Our room was turned down both evenings and made up in the morning and nothing was too much trouble.
All staff we encountered were warm and friendly.
We ordered room service one evening which came promptly with exceptional presentation.
The pool area is luxurious, clean and luckily was quiet whilst we were there.
We can’t wait to go back there!

Superb and luxurious
Yumi checked us in and made us feel so comfortable and welcomed
All staff made us feel like royalty and went above and beyond for us
Our daughter felt like a princess with her robe and slippers to match mummy and daddy. Came back to our room after a day out and it was spotless complementary wine and custom colouring book for our daughter another time at lunch nothing appealed to her on the menu Sharmina wisked her away to help her find something from the buffett. Indoor pool and spa was amazing.
bed was huge and linen divine.
I can fault a single thing at this gorgeous hotel
We will be back asap

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Langham for a couple of nights. The rooms are immaculate and well attended to, the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly, and the food is delicious and well presented.
I was met on arrival by friendly and helpful staff, and looked after from the moment I walked through the door.
The rooms are well attended to, with the housekeeping staff ensuring that all areas are attended to with the utmost professionalism. The 'tuning down' each evening is a wonderful touch.
The Pool and Spa area was relaxing and enjoyable, with helpful and accommodating staff in attendance at all times.
I enjoyed breakfast and lunch during my stay and was not disappointed in choices. The food is well presented and extremely tasty.
I also enjoyed some evenings in The Observatory Bar. The choice of beverages is good, and the staff are friendly and happy to engage in conversation if you wish.
This Hotel is definitely worth putting on the list of places to stay when visiting Sydney.
The location is perfect for access to all tourist and restaurant destinations in and around Sydney

I've stayed here for years and I am never disappointed. First stayed here after I got a poor room at the Shangri-La and have never stayed anywhere else since. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff that can't do enough for you to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Breakfast is wonderful with quality ingredients and the breakfast room is light and airy. Rooms are a lovely size with comfortable beds and quality linen, they are very quiet thanks to two doors between you and the corridors and the a/c works perfectly. It's also quite a nice walk away from the hustle and bustle without being too far!

We had a street room, but in all honesty, to get the best views of the city you'd want to walk around the corner to Observatory Hill and you will enjoy that far more than any hotel room view.
Alternatively go have lunch up in Crown Barangaroo Towers or Skypoint, then you will have an even higher view of the city.
Dear Joe1949,
The hotel does not have a laundry facility for guests to wash their own items, but we do have a laundry service available.
There are also multiple laundromats and dry cleaning services within walking distance to the hotel if you would prefer to do this yourself.
Kind regards,
Gaylord Lamy
