Nice View from the balcony. The room was quite big , comfortable and very clean. Very close to circular quay and opera house. Was there celebrating my birthday . Would love to stay at this accommodation again.

The location on Circular Quay can't be beat: it's perfect, and for that reason we enjoyed our stay. For the steep price, service should have been better. The sofa bed was not ready upon arrival. I rang the 'welcome desk', 'housekeeping', and 'duty manager' about this: no one answered the phone. I went down to talk to reception about this and got told 'they were busy'. The pool was out of function for three days and we were notified of this by a slip of paper under the door (advising us we could use the pool of the Pullman on Hyde Park, no thanks; I would have preferred a partial refund). The dishwasher did not function properly. Our room was serviced four days out of six, even though we were outside between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm, and left the 'make up my room, please' notice on the door. One of these times we received a phone call around 3:30 pm to tell us that they 'tried to service' our room at noon but couldn't. Why not, I wonder? The sign was up, we were out. Our room (416) was directly above a public area where chainsmokers gathered, which made it impossible to open the window.

Very late arrival due to flight delays. Seamless checkin & checkout. Short walk from Wynyard Station. Room quiet & lovely view. City, Hyde Park, The Domain & Circular Quay easy walking distances. Plenty of food options in Darling Harbour.

There are limits to the Tripadvisor rating system, and one such limit is that when I select the three circles rating it reads "average" and there is nothing average about this property, which has some absolutely fantastic assets but also some significant problems. I am a frequent visitor to Central Sydney and know the luxury hotel scene around Circular Quay quite well having stayed in many (Park Hyatt, Shangri La many times, Four Seasons, Quay West, etc) and other apartment type hotels in the CBD such as several Meriton properties. I also stayed at this very hotel one some years ago and had an excellent experience then. I decided to book it again this year but was a lot more underwhelmed feeling there was both great and frankly poor aspects to my stay. I have Gold status with Accor and booked directly on the Accor website. Let me try and summarise the good and the bad this time. Good and sometimes great: - The location is fantastic - right on Circular Quay (nonstop to airport, ferries departures, and edge of the CBD) - The views are excellent (note that even the cheaper park view rooms tend to have side view of the Sydney Opera House and front view of the beautiful Botanic Gardens) but I booked a harbour view room with beautiful views of Circular Key and the Harbour Bridge (you can't see the Opera House as you are on the same side) - Flats are generally well appointed and very comfortable and nicely decorated and I enjoyed the small terrace with table and chairs. I personally love the flat concept when I travel to Australia as I like to cook (plenty of supermarkets in the CBD) and jetlag makes it nice to be able to eat something in your own kitchen at any hour - I liked the breakfast which is a la carte, and you can order anything you like. However choices are a bit repetitive after a couple of nights and many items were missing (no juice of the day, no smoothie, etc). - Staff was invariably nice and friendly. - Was able to check in one hour early which was nice Bad and sometimes frankly disappointing: - Well, for me the worst was that there were cockroaches in the bathroom and even though I'm not squeamish, I sure didn't like that. Now it's humid Sydney and it was warm so those things can happen. What really annoyed me, however, is that I told them the very first morning, and they said they would "treat the room" but what they meant was a guy came with a spray, and of course, the little buggers were still running around the next night and every night after. I just do not think that taking a cockroaches infestation so lightly is on in any hotel let alone one where you pay about AUD700/night (breakfast in addition). When I mentioned it to the staff they seemed sorry but that was about it and I kept my cockroaches problem every night for the entire stay. - A lot of maintenance issues - in the room, oven was not working, air conditioning clearly not functioning correctly (it was blowing but not cooling). At the property level, the jacuzzi was out of order my entire stay (sign saying they were "investigating the problem"). Maintenance issues were mentioned and not fixed. In fact, when I mentioned that the oven had not been fixed, I was told that the maintenance person reported that he had fixed the problem, but as far as I could tell it still did not work. - The property tends to be very expensive, a lot more than most 5* hotels in the area (with some exceptions like the very expensive Park Hyatt) - The apartments are nicely appointed but not greatly so either. The kitchen tends to have less soft equipment than other similar properties (stupid things, but there was no chopping board, only one sauce pan, only one cutting knife, no salt or pepper, etc - all basics which I have found in similar apartment properties around Sydney) - Bathrooms are nice but not great - I like the jacuzzi bath a lot, but for instance, the sister Quay West property offers Japanese washlets which the Pullman doesn't. - Very little in terms of Accor Gold recognition: you get the (fairly minimal) drink voucher, but no upgrade, no amenity and the only late checkout possible was 12 instead of 11. So I gave this 3 circles not because it is average but because it really should and could be my absolute favourite property in central Sydney and has some assets that could make it so (apartment based hotel in fabulous location with great views and nice staff) but some of the issues I encountered were quite significant by my view and I was really frustrated that despite my mentioning them the very first morning, there was a certain nonchalance which meant none of them were fixed, particularly the cockroaches issue. In that sense, I felt that value for money was mediocre at best. You pay for the fantastic location and great views, but the quality of the service and maintenance feels lax and doesn't befit the high end of luxury hotel price tag. Rationally I want to say that I should not come back in the sense that I felt underwhelmed and was annoyed by the maintenance problems and even more the cockroaches ones, and I also felt that recognition of Accor status was poor. At the same time, the location is truly unique and views fabulous and I love the apartment hotel concept when I come to Australia, so I might still come back for that. All in all, I would summarise my thoughts by saying I may still come due to the hotel's very unique location-related qualities but I don't think the hotel is sufficiently well managed and they really should up their game.

We booked 4 nights at short notice after my wife had been hospitalised, and needed accommodation for a few days before she could fly home. We needed a sunny apartment with cooking and laundry facilities, and a pleasant outlook. We hit the jackpot! Our unit was on the 6th floor, facing the harbour, directly above the ferry wharves at Circular Quay. Always something to look at while my wife recuperated, although whisper quiet. Recommend including the breakfast (a la carte) in your package.

We had to wait three hours for 'champagne on arrival' after asking twice for it. On the third day (today 6.9.2023) we left our room at 10am placing the please service sign on the door. We returned to the motel at approximately 2.30pm to discover the room had not been serviced. I phoned housekeeping, no answer, so I phoned the duty manager and was told she would organise it now. Half an hour later, no one had attended. I went to a room that had 3 people cleaning it and asked for the room to be serviced. Not at all good enough for the price we paid. The view is spectacular but the service is rubbish.

I recently stayed at the Quay Grand Sydney Hotel and was disappointed with my experience. While the decor and general maintenance of the hotel remain the same as they were 23 years ago, there were several issues that marred our stay. One of the toilets in our room appeared to have yellow urine stains on the seat. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be yellow dried bubble stains, which still raised concerns about cleanliness. We decided to order breakfast through room service and called an hour later to check on the status of our order. We were told it would be with us soon. However, after waiting for 1.5 hours, we called again, and they claimed it was only 5-10 minutes away. This delay was frustrating, especially on Father's Day. Close to two hours later, we received a call saying there was a problem with the system, and they asked if we still wanted the breakfast. Unfortunately, we had no more time left as we had to rush to the airport. When we brought up our concerns with the front desk reception, their excuse was that they were busy with Father's Day. In my opinion, a 5-star hotel should have anticipated increased demand on special occasions and ensured adequate staffing. This experience left a sour taste in our mouths, considering the high cost of staying here. Regrettably, I cannot recommend the Quay Grand Sydney Hotel based on my recent visit. We won't be returning, and we will make sure to share our disappointing experience with our friends to prevent them from facing similar frustrations.

Tried the Pullman after a stay at the Shangri-La previous week ( our usual place of choose ). The Pullman is now our go to for Sydney trips as the overall experience was fantastic. It may not have the finesse of the parking ( we pre booked opera house car oark) but for location and room was 5 star in our opinion. Location is fantastic with short walk to train etc.

Our stay was wonderful. First, the “garden” in the “garden view room” was the Sydney Royal Botanical Garden, so that was amazing. On top of that, we could see the Sydney Opera House. The view was exceptional. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant, and the restaurant was excellent for breakfast. We used the pool, and my 5 year old loved it. The location is excellent; you’re within walking distance of a number of attractions in Sydney, and right by public transit to get to even more. My only quibble, and it is a very minor one, is that some of the furniture and cabinetry seemed to be showing their age in the room. But as I said, that is a minor quibble in what was a fantastic stay at a fantastic hotel.
