Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for two nights and it is was not value for money. The power in our room went out multiple times, the bed was uncomfortable and all the furniture is out dated. It wasn’t giving $700 a night comfort. Stay somewhere else for a better experience.

Great location but small rooms even if you upgrade. Crazy check in process but nice friendly staff that tried to elaborate. If you would like to try 3 different shades of yellow microwaved (my guess after trying it) mashed potatoes go for the pub restaurant Eve;)

Reasonable location within walking distance from Central station. If you are doing business in the actual city, you might like something closer. Beds were harder than I like as a back sleeper. Service was polite. Room was clean and quiet, even though it was beside the lift. Has KFC and pubs nearby where you can get an affordable counter meal. Internet was great. My only suggestion to the Mecure is to make it easier to connect your phone to the television as it is always good to unwind after a big day of work watching your favourite Netflix show. If you already offer this, I would suggest some really easy to follow instructions are placed beside the television on how to use it.

I liked my room (643) and its view out onto Central Station and some venerable buildings that had been converted into academic headquarters for TAFE and outlying buildings for the University of Science and Technology. There were some interesting lights in the room that could change colour by flicking a control switch. This allowed the mood in the room to be transformed according to one's mood. The bathroom and bed furnishings were all serviceable.

Only stayed for one night in a queen room. We waited a very long time to check in. There was a long queue and only two staff members on the desk. The staff member who checked us in was polite and apologetic of the wait. We stayed on the 4th floor. Our room was adequate. Nothing special, but did the job. There was mould around the taps in the bath which was quite off putting. We ventured up to the pool which felt more like sneaking through the corridors of a shopping centres garage. The pool was fine but on the smaller side. We added breakfast on for $25pp and it wasn’t too bad. Overall, it was okay, but not good. Location was fantastic, but we probably wouldn’t opt to stay here again.

Booked 3 nights their two queen sized bedrooms. Very spacious and loved that there is plenty of extra space for luggages. Staff are all courteous and great customer service from reception to concierge to housekeeping. Loved the nice touch of wine they gave on NYE. Buffet breakfast was also ok for the price. Overall we will happily consider booking room again in Sydney.

What a terrible hotel. We walked in and the place was filthy. There was custard smeared on the carpet outside of our room. There were dirty bowls and glasses spilled in the corridor. The carpets were warned and filthy. The stairs were covered in rubbish and dirt. That was my first impression. The room was okay, but for nearly $400 a night. The beds were tiny, and I mean so small two people couldn’t fit in one. the service was terrible, rude arrogant, I guess it was Christmas but still. We were escorted out of the swimming pool five minutes before it closed as the guard couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer. I won’t be back

We have just come back from staying in this hotel for 6 nights. We paid $2000 for 6 nights which we thought was steep ($330 a night) but we knew Sydney is more expensive than other Australian cities. When we arrived the reception was nice so was looking forward to the stay. That was until we entered our room. The room had cracked walls, was extremely old, tiny and had strobe lights for lighting. There was no lights on the ceiling instead it had a strobe light around the mirror which you had to spin a dial for what colour you wanted the strobe light to be (Red, orange, yellow, blue, green). The sheets were changed everyday and almost everyday had a stain on them. The window had a black screen curtain which was broken every time we pulled it up and down. We felt like we were sleeping in a backpackers hotel. Couldn’t believe they can charge $330 a night for such a dump. We went downstairs to complain and kept being told to come back tomorrow and we will try change your room. We never got it changed. This hotel has shown a complete different side of the Mecure franchise as Mecure in other cities is nothing like this. Photos on the website look nothing like the rooms itself. All very heavily photoshopped. Would definitely not recommend this hotel.

The air conditioning (ac) is hopeless as it turns itself off in the middle of the night as it is linked to a motion sensor, which means when you don’t move during you sleep, the ac turns itself off! It did that even during daytime when we were working stationary at the desk! And when it turns itself on again by one’s movement, it is preceded by a loud beep which will wake everyone up in the middle of the night! When probed, the staff maintained that there is no motion sensor, which shows how well the staff knows how their own building works! They really should upgrade to those keycard-initiated energy saving mechanism like any other hotels.

We were travelling with our kids and looking for a place near the central station. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The rooms were slightly smaller but what can one expect when you are in the heart of the city. Would surely stay here again.
