Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Swissôtel Sydney is often celebrated for its sophisticated atmosphere and prime central location, with guests frequently lauding its proximity to city attractions. However, opinions are divided regarding amenities and service, where some visitors commend the staff's attentiveness and others point out service inefficiencies. Cleanliness receives both praise and criticism, with inconsistency being a concern.
The comfort and quietness of rooms are appreciated, yet there are grievances about their dated style and maintenance. Additionally, the value is questioned due to extra fees and high prices for standard services.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel is located in Market st which makes the QVB shopping arcade, Myer and David Jones within 5 minutes walking distance. There is also a tram station close by and plenty of small eating places and bars.
The hotel starts on the 8th Floor of the building but there is a ground floor lobby where guests can leave luggage to be delivered to there room. Our two cases were at the door within 5 minutes of us walking in to the room.
The reception floor also includes the a bar that provide drinks, tea/coffee and snacks till late and the dinning room. Check is was quick and friendly as my wife had prepaid the room online and had selected one of the medium priced double rooms.
Public areas are clean and tidy which include a heated pool and hot tub, a small gym and spa on the 10th floor. The rooms are well appointed with mini bar, tea/coffee, ironing equipment and a safe in the wardrobe. There is an individual air conditioner control on the wall
The bed and pillows were very comfortable amongst the best we have experienced in all of our travels. The size of the bathroom is amazing and includes a full size bath, which I really enjoyed after a day of walking around the city.
Access to the floors and your room is via an electronic card which operates the rooms power.
While not cheap this is a good value hotel for visitors who wish to be placed close to major attractions. We walked to Circular Quay and the Sydney Opera House within 25 minutes

I stayed here with my teenage daughter for 2 nights. Location was very convenient in the midst of the shopping and cbd district and easy airport transfer via nearby train station (st james). I preferred the location over Darling Harbour and Chinatown locations where we had stayed in past .... much closer to shops and not as expensive as staying near rocks or circular Quay.
Very comfortable beds and clean and spacious rooms.
We found standard pillows uncomfortable but was easily fixed with a call to housekeeping who quickly delivered our choice of pillow.
We would happily return.

Interaction with all staff, from Concierge at the entrance on Market Street, to check in, housekeeping and executive lounge, was always of a high standard. Very quiet hotel considering the inner city location. I had booked a Swiss Executive King but unfortunately due to an oversight, we were given a room with two singles. We asked for these to be replaced with a king but it wasn't possible at the time. We were offered another room by a very obliging and nice reservation manager (sorry, cannot remember her name) but the original room was in such a good location and aspect, we decided to stay. This was a small problem and although we would have much preferred the king, it really didn't impact on our overall impression and stay at the hotel. The executive lounge food and variety was excellent and the offerings were changed daily. The beverages offered were also of a very good standard. Two small downsides....we found the food and beverage area a little tight when there were so many people there each evening and also in the morning for breakfast. Maybe an easy way around this might be for breakfast times to place the toaster, coffee machine and pastries in a slightly different location. This would go a long way to reduce the congestion at busy times. The second suggestion would be to consider having a quieter area (without young children) for travelling couples to use if they wish. Please don't misunderstand me, we have had children of our own and love them dearly. Also understand what it is like to travel with them. We understand that anyone who pays for the extra little luxuries afforded in an executive lounge is entitled to them but I also think children being noisy and sometimes running in a lounge can detract from the overall special expectations some travelling couples have when paying for this experience. The staff in the exec lounge were very good, obliging and attentive considering how busy this lounge can become. We will look forward to coming back to Swissotel when next we return to Sydney.

My wife and I enjoyed a Friday night stay here and we found the room comfortable and well appointed. The bed was firm and the pillows plentiful. The bath filled and emptied quickly and there was plenty of hot water in the shower, all of the time. A good supply of tea and coffee was supplied in the room as well as plenty of soaps and fluffy towels in the bathroom. The robes were a good summer weight and were quite comfortable. We had a standard king room on the 12th floor and had easterly views to the base of Sydney Tower, Pitt Street Mall, and distance views to Hyde Park. We were able to obtain an early check-in, before midday, which was a great help to us. We ate dinner at the bar in the evening and enjoyed some light meals accompanied by sparkling mineral water and coffee to end. I wasn't too sure what to expect with regards to the noise of buskers in Pitt Street Mall, but my worries were soon negated as the heavy rain fell most of the night. We had no issues with noise from neighbours either. In-room Wifi worked well. Staff were efficient and friendly. The room requires your room key card to run electricity and also to gain access to the residential floors in the lift. We left the hotel mid morning Saturday, after a very enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

The Swissotel is in the heart of Sydney's CBD and a great location for visiting the city centre and shopping. Being above a Department store it starts from level 8 so the rooms of the higher floors have good views over the city. The rooms are pleasant with very comfortable beds, a large bathroom and the suite we had also had a small balcony. Some furnishings were getting a little tired so perhaps a renovating should not be too far away. The breakfast was excellent, the club lounge worth the extra expensive of a higher grade room. All the staff were efficient and friendly.

Thiaga, who checked us in, was professional, friendly, courteous and patient which created the perfect start to our short stay. Our room on level 20 was spacious, clean and luxurious. The location in central Sydney gave us options to explore Sydney by walking and using public transport. Car parking is not available in the building, but QVB is only a short walk away and the station offers discounts when pre-booking. Great value as we scored a relatively low rate booking directly with the hotel about six-weeks out but it was even less expensive on the day (too late to take advantage though).

Choosing the Swissotel Sydney for a father-son weekend for my husband and 19 year old was the best last minute decision I've made for a while! With a health battle on our hands, staff were fabulously considerate and caring when I called to make a same-day reservation, organising a super comfortable room and making my boys feel warmly welcome. The central location was perfect for gentle excursions punctuated by rest breaks back at the hotel, and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Heartfelt thanks to the Swissotel Sydney team. We're Accor members and this was our first visit... We will be back!

I’m still halfway through my stay but I feel like writing a review of this hotel.
Although slightly outdated, the hotel has a lot to offer given its price. I stayed in the Advantage Room and the experience started at the reception. All of the staff were polite and friendly, you can also be rest assured that the hotel has adequate covid safety measures in place.
As an Accor Gold member, no deposit was required. From all the showering nécessités to your laundry needs, the room has most of the amenities you need.
The minibar is also filled with snacks, coffee capsules as well as a glass of red wine.
To make sure all your devices can be fully recharged, numerous USB ports and power outlet can be found next to the bed and the workstation next to the TV.
Overall very enjoyable stay till now.

Greeted by welcoming & helpful staff who checked us in early with a great room on the 24th floor, they sent us a bottle of wine and some flowers with a personalised card for our anniversary. We felt so relaxed and enjoyed the stay with all the special treatment and small touches the hotel had to offer. We selected the room that came with Club Lounge entry, and even though the lounge was not in operation due to Covid, we had a full buffet breakfast, afternoon tea & canapés served to us at the bar (with live music) on level 8, we were pretty satisfied, and the quality of the food is superb (try the omelet with everything), the table staff actually talk to you.
It's so close to the shops. We attended the Elvis and Beatles show across the road at the State Theatre, that was an amazing show! The spa on level 10 in the hotel was fantastic. My wife and I were very impressed with the quality of service. We've already planned a return visit. Thank you to Suzanne & all the staff for a memorable stay.
The trick with parking is to use the drop off zone at the front of the hotel to un/load your luggage before parking.

Yes they do and it’s quite yummy. Also if you book a room with club access you get free pre dinner drinks and canapés and free buffet breakfast.
They didn't interfere with our stay at all.
The pool is all done and the area is so beautiful.
No, parking is available in a nearby Wilson's carpark.
