This was our second stay at the Macleay. There isn’t a single thing we would change! The staff is exceptionally welcoming and helpful, the rooms are immaculate - with very comfortable beds, the rates are very reasonable, and the location and neighborhood are perfect. Our room had a wonderful view of the city, Opera House and Harbor Bridge. Others view Elizabeth Bay. There is a small but elegant outdoor pool. The hotel is perfectly located on a leafy street in the exclusive residential neighborhood of Potts Point, yet on a bus line that goes right to the heart of the business district (Queen Victoria Arcade, Sidney Tower Eye, Hyde Park, etc.) in just a few minutes - or you can take a pleasant half hour walk. Macleay Street has many noted restaurants, an impressive Metro grocery store, and nice shops. We can’t say enough good things about the Macleay Hotel, but as we told the staff, “We’ll be back!”

This Hotel is the best value for money given the location. I never stay anywhere else but Macleay Hotel whenever I am in Sydney Staff are amazing and so helpful, they all know the area well. The harbour view rooms have spectacular views either of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge or Elizabeth Bay. The rooms have a kitchenette so you can eat in but there are some many restaurants within walking distance you probably wont have time :) A quick walk up Macleay St to Darlinghurst Road gets you to the train station and one stop has you in Martin Place so you can stroll down to Circular Quay or up to Pitt Street Mall.

I had an excellent stay. The Queen studio room was quiet and clean with enough space to be comfortable for a two week working stay. Excellent location in walking distance to the Botanic Gardens, with many delicious restaurants a 1 - 2 min walk away. Would stay again.

Now, the good versus the not so good. Fabulous location, great area of Sydney. Handy to Woolies and BWS right across the street. Cafes and restaurants aplenty. Great views of the harbour, good little kitchenette with everything you’d need, we stayed on the eighth floor in an un-renovated room, and that was ok, we didn’t mind that at all. What really annoyed us was that on Sunday morning at 10am workers started drilling, hammering on the room next to us and also above us too. ON A SUNDAY! We hadn’t been advised ( I booked online) that work would be carried out on the weekend either. We complained to management but nothing changed they still carried on working. After two hours we decided to go out for lunch and returned at 3.00pm to hear the work still going on. At 4pm we complained, nothing ceased. 5.10pm management went and told them to cease…finally peace! We also had problems with the WiFi it was dodgy only allowing one devise to be used, my iPad just kept dropping out. But my husbands worked. The TV also didn’t allow free to air so we could only Chrome Cast to watch. So apart from what we’ve stated we had a good stay and would probably stay again but only if we knew the Reno’s had finished and the WiFi had been sorted out.

This is our second time staying and have booked again for October . I would recommend the harbour view as not only is it beautiful it’s also peaceful. The hotel is directly across from many lovely restaurants, Woolworths & cafes. The staff are friendly and helpful .
