Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The ibis Sydney Darling Harbour hotel is acclaimed for its prime location, close to local attractions and dining options. While the live music adds a spirited touch to the atmosphere, guests have noted that the rooms can feel cramped and dated, reflecting a broader sentiment that the hotel lacks overall value, especially considering the additional parking fees and the high cost relative to room quality.
Although the cleanliness and comfortable beds receive some praise, the mixed service quality and the need for room maintenance are points of contention for many travelers.

Detailed Reviews
This entry level hotel is very good for a few weekend days in the city and met my “ibis” brand expectations (I only knew this brand from France when I was a kid) for the low price.
Pros : location ! Short walking distance from the light rail station, from the restaurants, shops, harbour, attractions... staff is very friendly and the lobby and bistro area are well designed and you feel you can have a relaxing drink there. The breakfast area is also very inviting and if you book your breakfast when checking in, you get a nice discount. The hot food and pancakes were good and i liked the presentation. Rooms are big enough and comfy for the price and you have everything you need (working AC, iron, minifridge...)
Cons : rooms are maybe a little bit tired but I think they have plans for renovations next year. They should also abandon the “corner hanging tv set” style I think it’s a low cost french style thing I have never had this anywhere else in other hotels brands, it feels like a hospital room lol. Also everything for breakfast was good except all the pastries... seems that they are the previous day remains from higher standard hotels of the same group next door haha, very stale every day. We will see if they are better at the Sofitel for a french hotel brand :)

This was our second stay at the Ibis Darling Harbour. The location is great if you are dining or visiting the greater Darling Harbour area.
Walk from Town hall or catch the light rail from Central to Pyrmont Bay which drops you a few minutes walk from Murray street. Very convenient.
Check-in was very friendly and professional. Our room was small but comfortable. It was showing signs of wear and tear. Needs a bit of TLC.
We decided to dine in for breakfast. Again, great value at $15 a head. The buffet was very good considering where the Ibis hotels are pitched.
When there are specials on sale in particular, the Ibis is great value at the budget end of decent chain hotels and we'd be happy to stay again. As before, my ratings are what we expect from a hotel within this price range.

We visited IBIS Sydney Darling Harbour for 1 night only as part of a group booking as we were attending a Wedding in Darling Harbour. The room was located on 9th Floor, good views of the cockle bay and city buildings. The room is very small, just ok for 1 night, older room, older bathroom showing age. Check in was faultless and staff member was very attentive and helpful. Check out was the same. Due to COVID the bar was shut as was the dining room for breakfast. The staff were really accommodating and allowed us to use the lounge area to watch the live stream wedding ceremony and attended to us when we needed to refill of drinks. Very limited of drinks available due to COVID. Breakfast was room service only which was delivered promptly on time, the only thing I would say don't have the breakfast its very mediocre, served luke warm, coffee shocking. They are trying their best, but go outside to a cafe for breakfast. Parking we pre-booked and parked next door at the Novotel, but did experience trouble on exiting the carpark and required assistance for the boom gate to open. Other than those few things it was ok for only 1 night.

14 days being stuck in a hotel room was never going to be easy, but the staff at the Ibis really put in every effort to make our stay comfortable. Whenever I called down to reception to request something it was brought up straight away - extra pillows, another chair, new sheets and towels, loo roll, never a problem. I requested my food to be piping hot from Day 1 and never had any issues with food temperature after that. Hotel staff were always cheerful when delivering our food and all wore masks and gloves (unlike the security guards which were a separate company!!)
The little touches were really appreciated - at the halfway point we received a nice card with some jokes in, a packet of Tim Tams and some nice teas freshly made, such a nice gesture especially on a day when the whole incarceration was starting to get to me. Two nights before our departure we received a lovely mocktail (complete with flamingo stirrer and cocktail umbrella!) and a puzzle book. The Ibis is a low cost hotel so I wasn't expecting any of this, this was all the staff who put the effort in to make us feel welcome.
Yes, a low cost hotel room is not really designed to be lived in 24/7 for two weeks, the sound-proofing is limited and the internet speeds are best at 3am due to daytime traffic volumes, but if you end up here, honestly, it's really not so bad and at least the staff here look after you as much as they can given the heavy restrictions that are in place. Thank you, Team Ibis. I'm not sad it's over, but I really appreciated everything you did for us during our stay!

The foyer of the hotel looked very promising but our room was really basic. Carpets were worn out and tired. Room was more like a student hall of residence bedroom than a hotel. It felt in need of some TLC and updating.
We paid over £150 per night and they don't even clean your room unless you specifically request it before 10am!
There were no plug sockets anywhere near the bed.
There only ever seemed to be one person on reception and so you had to queue if you wanted anything.
Hotel did served bar food but we didn't see anyone eating there.
Breakfast could be had, but it was very basic and not worth the cost.
Location is ok but the part of Darling Harbour directly adjacent to the hotel is undergoing major refurbishment/ demolition work at present.

I was in town for a conference at the ICC and the Ibis Sydney Darling Harbour was nearby and inexpensive. I used one of my free nights but upgraded to a harbour view room.
The room was small but an adequate size for two nights. There was a small, but adequate hanging space for clothes. The bed was good sized and very comfortable and the blackout curtain was effective. There was also a good sized desk.
There were three accessible power points, one with two low power USB ports. I had no trouble recharging devices and using my computer. The wifi was excellent and I streamed a movie off amazon prime one evening.
The bathroom was a reasonable size with a walk in shower (no bath) and the water was hot with good pressure. It also had the multi power points for shavers and a hair dryer, although I did not need either of those.
There is no room service nor a minibar – although there was a fridge. There was a kettle and plenty of fixings for tea and coffee. I ordered a meal from the bar one night and they supplied a tray so that I could take it back to my room. Slightly inconvenient but the food was good and low cost.
Check in and check out were smooth and fast. My bags were held on the day of checked out.
There were some minor maintenance issues that could be addressed, notably one of the privacy curtains was missing – as I was a long way from the nearest overlooking window I was not concerned.

very basic place but was clean and tidy. Checked in without any problem. Our concern was that we than found the credit card that we had used against the room for any possible charges than had multiple charges from outside the hotel. WE naturally blocked the card we we realised but it had already been used at David Jones in the city and then later at a Pet store out of the city. Tha card wasn't used anywhere else during the stay. On contacting the Ibis to report it, the disinterest by the person answering the phone was staggering. Won't stay here again.

Dear Walkingprimrose Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at ibis Darling Harbour. While I am glad to read that you had a mostly enjoyable stay, I do sincerely apologise that the incident experienced with your credit card while staying with us put a dampener on the experience. At ibis, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. I can assure you that the phone manner you encountered does not reflect our usual service standards. We will be taking this up with the staff member in question. We booked this via a online offer from a 3rd party. We received late checkout and a bottle of wine as well as a great price. Room was small but had a lovely outlook. Very clean and tidy. We had the buffet breakfast at the hotel and was very happy with the variety and price. Very delicious. We'd bought a 2 day hop on hop off bus ticket and discovered that one of the bus stops was only 100metre walk. So excellently located. Many attractions around this area for the tourist. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and happy to help out with any questions. Would definately stay here again.

Part of the 14 quarantine process in Australia. Sent to the IBIS. All I can comment on is the food, room and management. Poor, poor and poor!!!
Company has done no favours for its brand image. Room is small, internet nearly non existent, shower door leaked, poor sound insulation, food delivered to room was generally luke warm to cold and poor quality, TV essentially only free to air. Mattress, mattress topper, cover and doona all soiled. Although staff were generally good duty manager was not.

No Bath only Shower ... May have in other rooms but not in our room.
Hi that is something you would have to ask the Hotel sorry.
Yes But I didn't think it was in an obvious place.
Not associated with the Ibis, but next door in a multi level carpark
The rooms are only big enough for 2 people.
