Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is situated close to St Vincent hospital.the rooms are well appointed but small noisy and floor boards creak during the night.a change as the rooms are very good.there is no lift and the stairs are pretty steep.staff are not over friendly and you really don't get that welcome feeling.

Good location, easy to find, near many places. The room was clean and beautiful, I quickly took a few photos. We arrived at 12:00 noon, they helped me check in 2 hours early and did not charge a fee. The only downside is that the hotel does not have an elevator

Pokey noisy unclean and lacking any hospitality. The noise was terrible and got no satisfaction from reception. Uncomfortable bed. Unclean bathroom. Broken closet and poor in room offerings. The receptionist was pleasant. Will I be back……no.

Fast check in / we actually stayed on 3 occasions . We stayed in the hotel in 2007 and it hasn’t been updated since! Rooms varied but are dark , furniture not in great condition and plug sockets hard to find . Shower bath equipment often cracked but clean . The location is good and price is good for expensive sydney. One room (308) was so bad we requested a move. It’s very handy fir Darlinghurst and Paddington and Oxford street . Decor reminds me of an 80s gay club !

Booked and stayed due to health appointments at nearby St Vincents. The room was seriously budget, and the décor very tacky. We wondered if the place was masquerade as a potential brothel from the décor, and suspect people. The bathroom was completely filled with a layer of black mould. At one point i trod on a very small piece of something on the carpet next to the bed barefoot, wiped it off with a tissue and it was actually human poo. The bed was comfy but moved around a lot and found multiple stains on the sheets although they had been cleanly laundered. The only plus was the location and the price. Such potential for a small boutique style place- but lots of cheap trade work. Certainly a place of cleaning horrors.

The good - the location is pretty central and the bed was very comfortable. The ride to/from the airport was about 20 minutes and about 50 dollars Aus. We could book the room for one night on the New Years' weekend and it was < $200 US. The rest - Overall, the Kirketon could use an update. The hotel facility was retrofitted into the building and while this can produce a fun and funky (in a good way) experience, the Kirketon is more funky (in not a good way). The lobby and room furnishings are tired and weird (not in a "hip" way). The windows are FILTHY. I think the room and bathroom were clean but the lighting is not great. There is no lift so be prepared to carry you and all your stuff up the stairs. Our room was strangely laid out so that there was about 1 foot between the bed and wall and we had to lift our suitcases over the bed to get them to the other side where we could put them down. We also basically had to walk sideways to move through that opening. The bathroom was a long, thin (~12 foot x 2 foot - think bowling lane) "room" with a small sink at the top of the corridor and toilet at the end with the shower jutting back into the main room on the side.

Me and my daughter booked this hotel as in the pictures on the booking.com website look very clean and good. Not the case. Firstly there was no lift to any rooms which was a struggle to pull our cases up the stairs. Wow.then we opened the room door in horror. There were stained all over the floor and walls. Holes in the wall where the sockets were also the room had a musty smell about it not to mention the size of the room was tiny. The curtains were drawn when we arrived and as I opened them the Window pane was cracked. No wonder they were closed. My daughters room was just about the same. These rooms are really not good and what a disappointing experience this was. The rooms are filthy with paint peeling off the wall and skirting boards as well as likes in the wall in my room. The shower room was so filthy I would not have wanted to shower in it. This is by far the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. Please do not go there as this is not even a 1 star hotel. What I will say is that we went stray down stairs to vent our disappointment and the Chinese lady offered to refund our money straight away thankfully. We do appreciate that this was a cheap hotel but that does not excuse the dated and dirty conditions that the room had to offer.

The reason I gave this hotel 1 star is that the only good thing is the location. The reception and the reception staff were nice. First thing to know is there is isn't a lift, so for the more senior clients this could be a problem as there isn't anyone to help either. Our room.....strangely the curtains were drawn when we entered, on opening them we saw the skirting board was not attached to the wall! The housekeeping is pretty much none existing....window filthy on the inside, doors, window ledgers were appalling, carpet had not see a hoover in a long time. The bedding had so much starch in it, it quite literally made your face sore. Had I taken the time to read the reviews we would never have stayed, so please read the reviews and find somewhere else to stay.
