We had to evict the other building at 10am and Best Western Stella allowed us to check straight into their available room which was a life saver so we weren't out on the streets with suitcases for 4 hours.
Room 504 was exceptional! Clean and sanitary yet homely and comfortable. All decor very functional and tasteful. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept soundly with no back complaints which we do get in bad beds. The kitchenette was perfectly set up with all your needs met including a toasted sandwich press, very handy. The only thing it was lacking was a cutting knife and ice cube tray.
The location is perfect being close to the gorgeous Hyde Park and walking distance to the best shopping precinct at QVB and Westfield. Loads of cafes, bars, supermarkets, bottle shops etc close by, and public transport and taxis are readily available. The in-house restaurant had a really generously priced menu and breakfast deals, we didn't use them as we had to leave early but would have loved to take advantage had we stayed longer.
The staff who checked us in were lovely gentlemen. One was in training and I can tell he will be a wonderful new addition to the business as his presence and demeanor were very genuine, friendly and helpful. I can't thank them enough for catering to our need to check in early (this did come with a small fee that we were happy to cover). They helped us getting a taxi on our way out and with our cumbersome luggage, bless em!
I have only praise for the whole stay here: staff, location, price, facilities, cleanliness, decor, comfort, and provisions.
Highly recommend to any couples wanting to stay near the Sydney City Centre.
The hotel room was clean, comfortable and quiet. As a business traveller that is all you want. As a bonus, I had a room with a kitchenette which made it easy and the breakfast downstairs was convenient and very reasonable. I will definitely stay here again!
This was great for us, as we hadn't paid for breakfast, but could benefit from the fridge to stock up on milk and cornflakes for our stay!
The hotel was relatively quiet during our 4 night stay so slept well, and was well located for exploring the city. We made a few trips to the food court off Liverpool Street for evening meals, and even brought back a takeaway one night from the Hungry Jacks (Burger King) around the corner. The hotel even encouraged us to order food to be delivered if we wanted.
If like us, you arrive with lots of luggage from the train station, we'd recommend getting a taxi from the station. We struggled pushing 2 large cases up the hill to the hotel. We took a taxi going back!
Check in was a breeze and we were given a room on level 6, the top floor which is quiet. Staff were pleasant and make us feel very welcome, with their ready smile and prompt assistance. We had some issue with payment for transfer from hotel to airport and Michael and his team were most patient in helping us sort things out.
Hotel is about half an hour walk to Sydney Opera House which was ok for us. In May, the weather was cold and windy, which makes walking easy and pleasant without breaking into a sweat.
In fact, we did not take any public transport in Sydney City and walked from Hotel to Circular Quay/The Rocks, Surry Hills, Haymarket/Chinatown and Darlington.
Bed was really comfortable and the wifi worked well. The COVID19 hygiene protocol is top notch and there were radio phone charging station on the bedside as well as a decent sized work desk and small dining table.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay and it's close by to Musuem station.
Will definitely stay again when next on that side of town.
This hotel is an old building so think large rooms and high ceilings. The rooms are very clean and comfortably furnished with the usual amenities and accompaniments expected of a mid range hotel in the Sydney CBD. AC was a split system located high on the external wall rather than the usual hotel ducted system and seemed to do it's job ok. Bed was large and comfortable. Shower pressure and temp all good. The only small detraction was the thinness of the walls. Noise intruded from neighbouring rooms and there was also noise from the room above. A bit of street noise intrudes but not unacceptable by any means
Overall a fairly decent choice especially if booked at a competitive price. The hotel is well located very close to Museum train station and within reasonable walking distance to the Rocks and Darling Harbour etc with plenty of good dining options and hotels nearby in Surry Hills.
