Situated in the heart of Surry Hills, Sydney, Crystalbrook Albion is an eclectic mix of heritage and contemporary detail true to its own DNA and that of Surry Hills. At our boutique hotel, we enjoy modern living through attitude, design, technology and a passion for a better world – or what we call #responsibleluxury. That means no plastic straws, water bottles or guest-room key cards; using technology to reduce paper, providing large-pump amenities bottles (saving more than 64,000 plastic bottles each year) and partnering with TerraCycle, OzHarvest and Containers for Change. Delightfully intimate, devastatingly gorgeous, genuinely original and refreshingly unpretentious, Crystalbrook Albion features 35 guest rooms (some which are pet-friendly!), a dedicated team of hosts on hand around the clock to offer individualised service, a rooftop garden oasis with views over Surry Hills and Sydney city and an honour bar featuring top-shelf beverages and gourmet nibbles. For something more substantial to indulge in, pop next door to Surry Hills' newest restaurant and bar, Shaffa. Crystalbrook Albion is housed within a unique heritage building full of history, dating back to its original construction in 1903 as a former school convent. The property was transformed into a modern boutique hotel in 2018, seamlessly merging a heritage-listed building with a new world of tantalising delights and surprises, largely influenced by 1920s and 1970s styles of interiors. The hotel is located in the buzzing inner Sydney suburb of Surry Hills, which is fast becoming a popular alternative to the CBD and home to some of Sydney's best food and beverage offerings such as Chin Chin, Firedoor and Nomad.

Was lucky enough to find this little Boutique gem of a Hotel. Decor is gorgeous staff were very friendly & incredibly helpful. We stayed in the larger room which was excellent. Lots of natural light a big window which opened for air. Bed & linen was all excellent. The rooftop was like something in Europe.

Amazing property! Our dog loved it too. Cozy guesthouse like accommodation. Great finishes, clean and friendly service. Loved the courtyard and rooftop garden. Definitely highly recommend. Easy walk into Surry Hills. Located in a quiet friendly neighbourhood.

We just finished an absolutely fantastic week-long stay here for the Women's World Cup. The staff is absolutely lovely and they went out of their way to help me out as I was on a scooter/crutches from an injury back home. We especially loved our chats with H who works overnight. The room was perfectly sized for my best friend and I and the bathroom had enough space for the two of us to use the mirrors in the morning as well. They even provided a little chair I could use in the shower as well. The hotel is located in a lovely brick building that used to be a convent and there are little portraits going up the stairs with historic information about the location. The rooftop terrace is a fantastic place to relax with a drink in the afternoon or evening and they have an evening Gin & Tonic cart where you can have a personalized cocktail for $10AUD. There's also a reasonably priced Honour Bar where you don't have to worry about being overcharged just because you're in a hotel. There's also a liquor store about 7 minutes away by walking if you want to bring in your own ingredients. The pastries available in the morning were delicious, though we did opt for local cafes generally after our morning coffee and tea. Really enjoyed Al Taglio and Shaffa for our local meals (pizza and Mediterranean) which are to your left and right as you exit through the Albion exit. The Surry Hills neighborhood is super charming and lovely. It's only about 5-7 minutes from Central Station and multiple other bus lines, so it's easily navigable from the airport and around Sydney in general. Absolutely loved our visit and we will 100% be back.

This lovely art deco inspired hotel is a small, boutique hotel set in a fabulous location to enjoy Sydney. While centrally located, it is a nice and quiet for a good night’s sleep. It is walking distance to almost everything - short walk to nearby bars and restaurants and Central station and a bit further walk to Oxford St or the CBD, or just 40 minutes to the Opera House. The hotel is beautifully designed and finished. The bed and bathroom were very comfortable and the complimentary coffee/pastries/ fruit breakfast is very enjoyable. There is a lovely roof top terrace and an honour snack and drinks bar to enjoy too. Every room is different with clever design to make the most of their size. We stayed in a cosy room (107) and, as the website says, it is snug for a couple! We managed fine and really enjoyed our stay but personally I would have preferred a luggage rack to the sitting chair (which is overly large for a small room). The staff were all welcoming and professional. This is our second stay in a Crystalbrook hotel and both have been excellent.

Wow!!!!! 6 STAR service from the 2 young women on the front desk!!! It was such a special boutique experience and perfect in every way!! The location was amazing! The bed was so comfortable. There was no noise. The cute roof deck terrace was lovely for a coffee or a gin. Of most note, my elderly parents were treated with such kindness and respect and their mobility issues were accommodated. I/we love this special place!! Can’t wait to come back!!! 6 STAR!!!!!!

Funky, Art Deco styled, converted convent. We stayed for 3 nights, visited GBR, then returned to Crystalbrook Albion for one more night. Staff were kind enough to store some of our luggage while we were away. We stayed in Master rooms both times. Rooms were very clean and smartly decorated. Rooftop deck , honor bar and continental breakfast a plus. The only negative for me was no door on bathroom in one of the rooms . There was a frosted door on WC, but it seemed you could see into it, but couldn’t see out. Maybe it was on backwards-lol. Location was perfect in the quaint neighborhood of Surry Hills. Close to Central Station. Love the vibe and friendly staff of this hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked a Cosy room but did not expect it to be so small that we were unable to move around. We booked for 6 nights and did not have a wardrobe nor bedside tables to put our clothes etc into. There was only three hangers available for our clothes which were hanging on coat hooks so we basically had to live out of our suitcases. The cosy room would have been ok for a night's stay but no more than that and the hotel should have advised us at the time of booking that perhaps this room was not suitable for our 6 nights stay, especially when we had told them that this was also our honeymoon. The total cost of the stay was certainly not cheap with New Year's eve really bumping up the price. We did not use the honour bar but did use the rooftop terrace which was pleasant during the night. The pastries were lovely and fresh in the morning with our coffee. Reception staff were excellent. I would imagine that some of the rooms at this hotel would be to a high standard, we are only disappointed that our room was so small and did ask for an upgrade for our 6 night stay but the only room available was at a ridiculous price. So if you are staying longer than 1 night do not book a cosy room!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us! We are so sorry that we couldn't accommodate your request for an upgrade over New Years Eve, as it is such a busy time in Sydney. Our cosy rooms are indeed cosy by name and cosy by nature. They are described online as "Perfect for solo travellers - or for a duo who don't mind staying snug". We loved to hear that you took advantage of the morning pastries and had the chance to enjoy a "cuppa" on the rooftop, as it's our favourite spot too! Wishing you safe travels and we hope to have you stay another time.

We were 4 couples staying at the hotel for 4 nights. We all loved the hotel! When we arrived exhausted in the early morning in the pouring rain, we were met by the kind staff with umbrellas and a warm welcome. The hotel is in a neighborhood with easy access to downtown Sydney and fab restaurants. Rooms were comfy with nice linens. Loved the coffee room and excellent pastries each morning. Gin and Tonic cart was a delightful treat after a day of sightseeing…especially when enjoyed on the rooftop deck. The highlight, however, was the staff…helpful, nothing was too much, warm, and extremely customer oriented.

When we walked into the property (3 hours before check-in time and following a flight from L.A.), we were greeted with a smile and great service. While our room was not ready, the manager arranged to have it prioritized...and offered us a shower, pastries, and coffee while we waited. The room was as advertised. Clean. Well-appointed. Comfortable. The location was perfect. It was quiet, but close to public transportation (which is fantastic in Sydney). Unrelated to the hotel, but worth noting is Shaffa (a couple doors down). We booked dinner there because it was close to the hotel -- but during a trip where we at at restaurants with "Chef's Hats" and "World's 50-best" accolades, this was probably the best meal we had. We would stay at Crystalbrook Albion again. It's a gem.
