#22 of 204 hotels in Sydney
Travellers' Choice
Situated in the heart of Surry Hills, Sydney, Crystalbrook Albion is an eclectic mix of heritage and contemporary detail true to its own DNA and that of Surry Hills. At our boutique hotel, we enjoy modern living through attitude, design, technology and a passion for a better world – or what we call #responsibleluxury. That means no plastic straws, water bottles or guest-room key cards; using technology to reduce paper, providing large-pump amenities bottles (saving more than 64,000 plastic bottles each year) and partnering with TerraCycle, OzHarvest and Containers for Change. Delightfully intimate, devastatingly gorgeous, genuinely original and refreshingly unpretentious, Crystalbrook Albion features 35 guest rooms (some which are pet-friendly!), a dedicated team of hosts on hand around the clock to offer individualised service, a rooftop garden oasis with views over Surry Hills and Sydney city and an honour bar featuring top-shelf beverages and gourmet nibbles. For something more substantial to indulge in, pop next door to Surry Hills' newest restaurant and bar, Shaffa. Crystalbrook Albion is housed within a unique heritage building full of history, dating back to its original construction in 1903 as a former school convent. The property was transformed into a modern boutique hotel in 2018, seamlessly merging a heritage-listed building with a new world of tantalising delights and surprises, largely influenced by 1920s and 1970s styles of interiors. The hotel is located in the buzzing inner Sydney suburb of Surry Hills, which is fast becoming a popular alternative to the CBD and home to some of Sydney's best food and beverage offerings such as Chin Chin, Firedoor and Nomad.

Great bathroom and bedroom, the only thing i found strange was the lack of amenities in the room- even basics like a bottle opener are in the shared kitchen area so lots of trips up and down to get small items (eg iron/ironing board). No coffee facility in the room (in shared kitchen again) other than that its a great central base

Hotel's Favourite
Everything was just right. Beautiful room, high ceilings, private, windows that open, comfy bed, very friendly staff, welcoming check-in, and great location. This was my first stay at Little Albion, after trying a bunch of other hotels in the area, and I’d stay again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

I was here for 3 nights for a wedding; its a cute hotel in Surrey Hills, very low-key, cute rooms, not too big but it's Surrey Hills. Check in as fine; good and attentive staff - food was fine but you wouldnt be eating here considering what is on your doorstep. Nespresso option which never really impresses. Good value - would stay again if was without family. Wouldnt recommend this with kids.

I needed a place to stay for GD's graduation, as I was taking my elderly mum I needed to check on how things would work. Consideration was proximity to public transport. GD had asked to dine at Nikkei so location relative to there was also important. I like small hotels and the Albion sang to me. From first contact I cannot fault any of the staff who went out of their way to ensure things would work. Then COVID happened again. GD now lives in a major rural town so this put a spanner in the works and I rang to cancel the rooms just as new restrictions were announced in order not to be penalised. It appeared graduation was going ahead so we decided to soldier on. After cancellation time, graduation was cancelled and our plans were now a fail. The staff were amazing, sorting it out so our 2 night bookings became a cancellation for one room, and reduction of nights for the other 2. WOW! Check in was everything expected and the upgrade much appreciated. We spent some time on the rooftop and in the little bar. Great spaces to relax and catch up. The rooms are all different and mine had a great outlook and lots of light. Bathroom was amazing and I love the sustainability features. Being able to walk out onto Albion St from the second floor is a big bonus, especially for access to some great cafes and restaurants almost at the door. Would I return... definitely, it's a great spot for a catch up, to shop and to dine.

Love staying here. It feels like a home away from home. The bed is super comfy, the staff are super helpful. The gin bar is special. I have now stayed here twice. Next time I hope to bring my dog. Can’t recommend enough- every room is different and make sure you go to the roof top.
