Room and location were fine. Returned to hotel at 6.00pm to find we were locked out of our room and had to wait 40 minutes for a patrol man to arrive and let us in as reception was closed . Couldn't provide us with a new access card and was told to ring again if we went out. Had to cancel dinner arrangements and sit in our room. Not impressed and won't be staying again.
I needed extended accommodation for work (5weeks) and after decamping from a substandard competitor nearby I wasn’t in a great frame of mind. Moving to Veriu was the best thing I could’ve done. I had a bed-sit style apartment: one large room with bed, lounge area, kitchen and breakfast table, separate bathroom/toilet, and laundry. And I mean large: this Veriu is a converted industrial warehouse, so the rooms have soaring ceilings and huge windows. The styling is contemporary post-modern loft, with polished concrete floors, minimalist plywood wardrobe and Scandi-style furniture, all of which suit the space. The kitchen includes a microwave, hot plate, basic cookware and crockery, and a dishwasher. You can comfortably stay in and chill. There’s no on-site parking, but you can request parking at the Broadway shopping centre a block away at reasonable rates. The main drawback with Veriu is the limited reception hours - if you are arriving late you will need to make arrangements to collect keys, and if you misplace your key card you’ll be at least half an hour standing on a dark street waiting for someone to come and let you in, and you won’t get a new key until reception is open again. But if you’re reasonably self-sufficient you should be okay.…
Booked the penthouse suite a few weeks ago. Arrived 8pm last night after travelling 8hrs, reception closed but provided with a code to open the key lock safe. Surprise, surprise, invalid number! Called the emergency contact number several times and spoke to various people who obviously thought we didn't know what we were doing. One of the support staff even offered us an emergency code to open ANY Veriu key safe ending in the letter E. She was astounded that the keyboard had no letters and refused to believe me!! Finally a security guard arrived 1.5 hrs later, tried the code which we had been given, no success then used another code which accessed somebody else's key (obviously another problem in the making later that night). Security guy escorted us to our room but with no keys to operate the lift we were stuck there until the next morning! The security man informed us that this was a common occurrence and it was his second visit that night. When we returned home on our second night, security was back again! The "penthouse apartment" was a major disappointment. The second bedroom (accessed off the main bedroom) is suitable for a toddler at best measuring 2m x 1.7m, furnishings were extremely tired. Hardly a penthouse!! Reception staff clearly not interested in our plight and maintained key safe and entrance were not an issue. This place should advertise as a studio or apartment complex, it has minimal facilities and service. A pity as we stayed here 4years ago and we loved it…
Very lovely stay in loft apartment. Great location, clean & comfortable beds. Washing machine/dryer was also great to have in the apartment. Decor modern with industrial feel. Walking distance to centre of Sydney & to circular quay. Great coffee at Black Groodle cafe next door & close to Broadway Shopping centre. Only small negatives - no face washer in bathroom & outdoor table on balcony was rusted & old & needs replacing.
We had our first two visits to Veriu Broadway cancelled due to COVID-19. Fortunately they were able to offer us a credit note that we used just this past weekend. In December I emailed a request to book a Deluxe Junior Suite at Veriu Broadway at what was the tariff at the time. I received confirmation that the room had been booked and that our credit note would be applied to the booking. A couple of days before our visit, I received emails from both Veriu Broadway and Veriu Greensquare. After multiple calls and emails, and initially being told that Broadway had transferred our booking to Greensquare, we found that Veriu had booked us two rooms. One at each property, both for the same date. The booking at Greensquare was eventually cancelled after repeatedly confirming that we had a booking at Broadway, and did not have a booking at Central (I still do not know why we kept being asked about central). On arrival at the property the credit note had not been applied to our booking. So the man at the desk instructed the woman who was serving us to charge what he estimated to be the difference. When we entered our room the lack of balcony made it apparent that we had been allocated a Junior Suite, not a Deluxe Junior Suite. Not a deal breaker, but disappointing when we had our booking confirmed in writing. The laundry smelt terrible. We were able to keep the door closed, which eliminated most of the smell. I don't think it was a lack of cleanliness but due to drains not being regularly flushed. At check out the man on the desk, who the prior day had been providing instructions to his colleague, informed us that his coworker had overcharged us. He offered us a couple of coffees to the value of the difference. I said that we had breakfast plans and instead asked for a refund for the difference. The man seemed genuinely surprised that we would want a refund and said that maybe they could refund but not until Monday. It is now Tuesday and we have received no contact from the property regarding our refund, nor a receipt for our stay. Overall the room was great, but not worth the stress of having to deal with multiple administrative errors.…
Perfect location, clean and modern hotel rooms with very friendly service from staff. I would definitely stay here again in the future if I come back to Sydney! The lobby also smells fantastic and facilities inside are top notch.
We stayed in the junior suite and it was perfect. It was cosy, comfortable and very clean. There was a small kitchen and washer/dryer, which made it great value as many hotels at this price do not offer these things. It is located a short walk to Central station and UTS, and close to bus stops and shopping areas. The area itself was very quiet and we were not bothered by any other people staying at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay at Veriu again and would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable stay in the city.
The hotel room were comfortable. It is a great location for the people who are looking to spend their time with friends and family. It was really good . We did enjoy our trip and stay at veriu hotel. Would definitely recommend. Thanks
This hotel is in a perfect spot - 10 min walk to central, 15 to Newtown or 20 min across to Darling Harbour. All rooms are really spacious with a sleek industrial design. Loved the one bedroom suite with balcony and Broadway shops is around the corner should you need anything. One of the nicest and most comfortable places I've stayed.
clean, modern room, well-appointed and spacious, near shops and Sydney University where my conference was. Accessing the hotel was easy at all times. It would have been nice to have had the room tidied during the day, but it is not essential
