Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Avoid this hotel at all cost: health hazard, filthy, poorly maintained. Complaints ignored, booking.com unhelpful, and hotel dismissive of serious hygiene issues. Misleading advertising, poor value for money. Just filthy and an insult.

Studio apartment is spacious and very clean. Great size kitchen and balcony Apartments are only a 5-10 min walk from central station, though if you had luggage you could join the tram at central and alight at Haymarket stop. Check in and out was smooth and staff were friendly. A great location close to shops, Chinatown etc

I booked 2 2 bedroom apartments for my husband and i, our 4 kids ages 7 and up and my parents. On arrival we were instead provided with 4 1 bedroom apartments. I approached reception to discuss the issue and was told there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to his manager and he said no manager was available. I then sourced alternative, more appropriate accommodation and he refused to provide me a refund. We had no choice but to stay, we had to split the adults amongst the kids, not exactly the luxury experience you expect when paying $500 a night. When we got to the room it had no wine glasses and the television didn’t work. The staff were absolutely rude and dismissive regarding my concerns and even argued back to say the rooms were just as I had booked. Possibly the worst experience with a hotel I have ever had.

Place is a sham. Horrible to stay at. Only positive is size of rooms. My standard "Queen" room was two single beds pushed together and the gap widened with each passing hour. The shower door was busted and couldnt be opened, so I had to try to squeeze through it. Reception pointed to an email address for me to complain to. Nice. Do not stay here.

Booking made through 3rd party on a No pay till check in, no bond till check in, and can cancel for no fee up to 24 hrs before stay. 3 weeks before the stay the hotel charged my credit card for nearly the total amount. Leaving me without any funds till it is refunded, which could be three weeks. Cancelled my booking. Hotel won’t mind as hotels in the CBD for that weekend fully booked. Now they’ll be able to sell rooms again for a huge markup, instead of my booking which was at a 35% discount.

We recently stayed 5 nights at APX world Square in Sydney. We booked an executive studio apartment. Instead were put in a tired one-bedroom apartment with a filthy concrete balcony, tired, chipped furniture, dishwasher catch was broken, no tea towels, the tv in the bedroom had no smart features and only 3 working channels. The lounge tv only You tube. The bed was up against the wall requiring one person to clamber over the other. Nothing executive about it nor did it look at all like the photos. I attempted to email the hotel 3 times prior to arrival and had no response. After checking in we made reception aware of the problems with the room versus our booking, they acknowledged it wasn’t the same as we were promised but told us they were full and could do nothing about it. We contacted both APX and Expedia for a partial refund but were told it wasn’t available. Worst customer service we have ever received if I booked a 3 stay cheap hotel it would have been fine but we paid for a much better room.

BE AWARE - We are @ level 3 "Booking.com" (ie frequent user of accommodation) This was the 2nd Hotel to take a "holding deposit = $200.00" (in case of damage) - in 5 yrs (60+ stays) - to be returned 1-7 days after checkout. They claim 4* (NB: a bible in the drawer gains 1*). GOOGLE reviews rate 3.4*. They sent out multiple messages (duplicate , triplicate - I count 20+ for period 30/06/23 to 21/07/23) incl. instructions for an app to gain room entry. (Does not work). The positive of this place is location, still in new condition. It encourages damage reports. Our room had unrepaired damage - paint peeling, dents in fridge, power/data points dislodged, cheap stick-on bathroom fittings (a towel rail fell off during our stay - not from abuse) - a concern that they blame us - we have photos + reported verbally & via message. Reception does not seem to be very well trained or informed. We still get messages re: ongoing saga to APX. Checkout was 21/07/23 - we live 150km from APX - message " come to reception........" quite a few times now. After multiple messages - where is our deposit - now @ 30/07/23. After saying it is our responsibility to chase our bank - how? With no reference, date, $ (it is APX who is responsible to prove they paid!!!). Finally advised they released money on 27/07/23 (no reference) It is now 11/08/23 - no funds?? (now 3 weeks old) NB: It takes 0-3 days for return funds. We run a business. Have requested General Manager call me. All quiet - no response as of today. Looks like wasting my time to visit "FAIR TRADING" to retrieve our money.

March 2022. Kitchen utensils dirty and worn, oven dirty, towel rail nearly off wall, exceptionally small tv, door to balcony would not lock (but I was responsibile if there was a theft!), office manager failed to followup with me on many occasions, direct email not replied to. Stayed 1 night of 3, they would not refund 2 nights. I said I would pay for the night I stayed, eventhough I spoke to them at 11.00pm on the night I arrived. Gave up trying tring to get any money back.

Nothing was broken so I guess that’s a positive and the room was fairly large and not falling apart. Mostly clean but heaps of mould/stains in the shower. The complimentary shampoo conditioner etc were clearly someone else’s ones before mine as they were sitting there opened on the counter. And what topped it off, the balcony doors might as well not have been there because the seals let every sound through specially when a road crew decided to work on the street.
