Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pros: - nice apartment that is close to everything and walking distance from food and shops. - nice view. - pool was refreshing and a nice size. - walking distance from most things. - the double glassed windows kept the heat in but unfortunately it was quite warm when we went so we had to put the a/c on otherwise we couldn’t sleep because we would wake up hot. Cons: - one of the bathroom showers was flooding if you had the pressure up too high. It also smelt like sewage so we were given a lid thing to put on the drain when not using the shower otherwise the whole apartment would smell. - kitchen was pretty small. - kitchen utensils, cups and plates weren’t very clean when we got there. They also didn’t supply any scrubs/sponges to wash dishes with. The dishwasher also didn’t wash the dishes properly. - Some of the bed sheets were a little dirty. - Was a little dusty. - Room didn’t feel very clean. - not much toilet paper provided. - loud noises from cars/people on the street. Overall we were happy with our stay and the location of the accommodation was great!

This hotel is in such a great location, walking distance to the all the shops & restaurants. Our room was so spacious and modern. Would highly recommend staying here. Great in every way! Will definitely be back.

Great stay, staff and location. If staying more than a few days you will need your own t paper and washing powder which is easy enough. Great stay for a longer trip as opposed to similar prices hotels in the area.

Nice view. Sadly this place was sorely let down by the filthy and I mean filthy carpet, washing machine and a vacuum cleaner which was so full it wouldn't work, I almost threw up emptying it. I doubt this place has ever been deep cleaned. I made the mistake of dropping something which rolled under the sofa. The muck underneath made me feel ill, it included layers of dust and bits of food. The utensils in the drawers were just revolting and I felt I had to put them all through the dishwasher before using them, even then some were still too smelly/stained. Every single plate and bowl had a chip in it. The washing machine was displaying a sign saying it 'had not been deep cleaned for OVER 100 washes'. The bed is a domestic standard and very cheap. These type of beds are not suitable for commercial purposes which is why hotels don't use them. This is because people of all shapes and sizes are staying in them, people are more 'active' away from home and often people allow their kids to jump on them. This bed was extremely uncomfortable and meant one of us had to 'sleep' on the sofa. The duvet supplied was for artic conditions totally unsuitable for Canberra in October. There was only ONE small blanket. The bedside tables had enormous and I mean enormous lamps with wire bases which served as an amplifier for every single time you might accidentally touch it. Unfortunately they were so big there was little room for anything else. Certainly style over substance! There were NO cleaning products supplied and ONE tea towel which I had to keep washing. I don't use them more than a couple of times at home, they carry germs. There was only ONE set of very small towels supplied and ONE toilet roll! There were only two small thin bath towels, ONE hand towel and ONE bath mat. NO face washers. I've stayed in hotels, apartments and airbnbs all over the world and I was kind of astonished at the attitude of the owners of this place. I understand not supplying everything but nothing? Really? We flew to Canberra and were flying out we can't carry everything we might need and it is just so wasteful to throw things away. I've never experienced such stinginess in this kind of 'apartment' and it was disappointing to say the least combined with the lack of proper cleaning I cannot say I would recommend it and it is worth noting that there is NO FOXTEL and very slow internet. Yes this is close to the CBD, well what passes for a CBD in Canberra but I really couldn't cope with this level of filth again.

We recently stayed here for a family holiday. I could not fault it at all. Great location near the Canberra CBD, near the shopping centre which was great for all your shopping needs. The apartment was so clean it was fantastic. Great view to the mountains and so peaceful considering it was right in the heart of the CBD. Good size rooms. Hall all your kitchen needs for the nights you wanted to dine in. Plenty of undercover parking. This place an awesome pool. Great BBQ area. Great gym. We were really happy with our stay and would stay with them again.

Being on the 14th floor gave great views south of Canberra and facilities were very good. No reception desk was a surprise but was not a problem. Standard of the room was very good and the size of the shared floor space felt just right. Surrounding outside parks and and cafe was a bonus.

Spacious apartments with great kitchen facilities, within five minutes (or less) walking distance to excellent restaurants, supermarkets and a cinema in Canberra City. Everything you need is literally up the street. The building is 10 minutes drive from the Parliamentary Precinct, five minutes drive from Rusell Offices, so well located for those doing business with the Government. The apartments are also very close to major tourist attractions such as the Australian War Memorial and National Museum and perfectly located for a leisurely walk around Lake Burley-Griffin. Quiet rooms, good pool, spa, a well-equipped gym, extremely secure access to the building and a secure car parking seal the deal. Worth the price for long or short stays.

A 5 day visit with friends. Met by Christian on arrival and shown the two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment. A spacious and well set-up living area slightly let down by the second bedroom which is small and contains two small single beds, suitable for children but not ideal for adults used to more spacious sleeping conditions. No side table for one bed. The bathrooms are of a high standard with excellent walk in shower. A big let-down was the TV which was described as state-of-the-art but contained no satellite channels, only free-to-air. This was the first occasion in our recent experience that the channel choice was so restricted. Netflix available on payment. The apartment arrangements were strictly 'no service' which was acceptable except we had expected a more generous supply of towels, just one large one each and one hand towel to be shared. One soap and one toilet roll, no replacements. Good wifi. Parking for a hire car available. The Manhattan Apartments are very well situated with a short walk to a major shopping centre. An ideal place for a two-child family but four adults should be aware fo the 'tight' sleeping arrangements for two.

Brilliant location, underground car park, amenities in apartment to feel at home. Roomy accommodation, air conditioning, swimming pool, friendly and informative introduction to location and apartment by Christian from Astra Apartments. Right across the road from a lovely park, and just around the corner from major Canberra shopping centre in Civic. Could walk to shops and restaurants (and there was plenty to choose from!). Wonderful view from 12th floor (roomy) balcony across to War Memorial and Mt Ainslie. Soundproof accommodation.

Our family of 4 have stayed at the Manhattan Civic apartments for 7 nights. Our 2 bedroom apartment has great views, everything you need for a comfortable stay and is so well located we have only used the car once - walking to all other attractions. We would definitely stay here again.
