This was the best 2 days spent in a long long time. The service..the food including all beverages are included but the greatest enjoyment is the animals in your room which are stunning We chose the Reef Room and the Tiger encounter..one wall is part of your room with a full aquarium..the fish are vitually in your bedroom.. just stunning. The tiger suite has Ravi a stunning Sumatra tiger living one glass pane away all night...you just cannot stop watching him...just brilliant.. Two great tours are included including a small group in our case 4 only that you can feed some of the zoos guests including a tiger and a bear..in concluding bucket list this you will never regret it..thank you Karl and Emma

We stayed in the tiger bungalow 5 overnight. Ravi the tiger only came out the second day in the morning and spend some time with us. He is absolutely magnificent and it was an amazing experience to watch him for a couple of hours or so up close . (Or more like allowing him to watch us :)) Next door bungalow 4 had 2 girls tigers which we heard were a bit more active on the first day as well as the second. We also were very impressed by all the statues and arts on the property and the quality of the bungalows and dining area amenities and craftsmanship - it was more like spending the night at the museum . The staff made this experience unforgettable- very informative tour guides, great dining service, and the food is absolutely superb. Perhaps, We would be able to come back again.

Jamala is an absolute must have experience. We stayed two nights in the Capuchin room, they were very active and a joy to watch. First day was arriving to an amazing afternoon tea followed by a afternoon tour. We got to pat and feed a range of animals, including a rhino! Then dinner was a cool three courses of amazing food, they catered well for my dietary requirements. The 2nd day involved breakfast followed by a morning tour, This was also amazing and we got many more opportunities to get up close and personal with a range of animals. My personal highlight was going behind the scenes of the tiger enclosure and feeding them. A wonderful lunch was served out on the deck and then we had several hours of our own free time in which we chose to enjoy the pool and continue exploring the zoo. Overall this experience has been amazing and well worth its cost. Thank you to all the staff involved for your wonderful service and knowledge. It was great to see how much positive work was being done around this zoo as a conservation.

Just an exceptional place to stay. We enjoyed everything. Even though it should be expected, at the price, it exceeded our expectations. The afternoon tea on arrival, and private tour of the zoo, even though the rhino didn't come over for a pat (sad Face) then delivered to out beautiful room. When you first spot the lions it is so exciting. A fantastic dinner with great quality wines included. All my favourites anyway. Moet Cloudy Bay and Grandfather Port. Then back to see our lions. Waking during the night and seeing the huge Male lions right by the window is fascinating and terrifying all at the same time. The boys spent most of the night right by our windows- often rolling over and tapping on the glass with their huge paws. And the roaring is just wonderful. I was fully awake by 4.am and it was the best night of interrupted sleep ever!

This was my third stay at Jamala and it was AMAZING! I stayed with my dad and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at home. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I have some dietary restrictions and Rebecca (the hospitality manager) came and spoke to me directly about the food choices. She also brought out my afternoon tea, which was delicious. My dad chose his own from the kitchen area. We enjoyed mingling with other guests in uShaka Lodge and checking out the decorations and fish tank. The afternoon tour was great. We were split into small groups and our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We patted a rhino and fed an eland, as well as visiting lots of the other animals. After the tour our guide took us to our room. We were lucky enough to get the sun bear room - my top choice as they are my favourite. The room was HUGE and well decorated. The bath was so large I could lie down in it without my feet touching the other end. The included amenities were lovely. The bears didn’t come to the window right away but we enjoyed watching one (Arataki) from the window as he had some food and walked around the enclosure. Dad and I had a tea and coffee while we relaxed after a big day. As we were getting ready for dinner Otay came to the window!! It was a real treat to watch her make her bed and tear apart some blankets to get comfortable. I didn’t want to go to dinner because I wanted to stay and watch Otay! We walked to dinner (it was pouring with rain but we missed the shuttle as we were watching the sun bear) but thankfully there were umbrellas in the wardrobe for us to use. Before dinner we watched the lions come to the patio for a feed and we were offered a wide selection of drinks. The lions went into their cave next to the tables and we were sat down for dinner. Dad and I were very happy to see we were seated by the lion window!! Dinner was very enjoyable, delicious, and filling. We loved getting to know the other guests at the large tables. The food was AMAZING! The wait staff couldn’t do more for us. Our glasses were never empty long. Even when we got up to take photos of the lions by the window, the staff would come and fold up our napkins; they were so attentive. Rebecca checked in with us to make sure we were enjoying our food. Which of course we were! After dinner we were driven back to the rooms where we went to bed. The beds are incredibly comfortable, even the fold-out lounge! In the morning we enjoyed a lie-in listening to the lions roar and watching “our bear”, still asleep right by the window. Breakfast was at 8:00am, not too early. It was great to stroll through the zoo to The Cave. Breakfast was yet another delicious meal, and the staff were very attentive to my allergies and dietary needs. After breakfast we could’ve used the booklet we received at check in to do a self-guided tour, but we went back to the room to spend more time with the bears. We also got the opportunity to meet Arataki with the keeper, who gave him some treats over the fence. We spent the rest of the day in the zoo. We honestly couldn’t fault anything at all, with Jamala or the zoo. It felt like being at home, and the staff are wonderful. I can’t speak highly enough of Jamala and recommend it to everyone. The high price tag is worth it for sure!
