Avenue Hotel Canberra garners commendations for its exceptional service, with guests frequently highlighting the friendly staff and efficient service. The hotel's prime location is a hit among travelers, offering easy access to nearby attractions, dining, and shopping. While the rooms are celebrated for their space, modernity, and comfort, there are occasional mentions of noise and maintenance issues.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a fully self contained one bedroom spa apartment, we found it to be very spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. We received a warm welcome on check-in, the gentleman confirmed that due to booking directly with them gave us free parking, we also pre booked our breakfast for the four night stay bringing the cost down to $20 per person per day.. The breakfast was excellent value, quality food with plenty of options at a price you could not fault. We also dined twice in the bar area which we found convenient and once again excellent value. On returning to our apartment each day there was always a treat left on the bed either chocolates, lip balm or T2 night time tea bags - a lovely touch along with quality bathroom products and Nespresso machine covered all bases. We really appreciated the hotel's commitment to keep the public areas scrupulously clean. Any staff we encountered were friendly and extremely helpful. We found the Avenue Hotel to be in a very convenient location and up with the best accommodation we have stayed in . Congratulations to all involved for providing an excellent establishment.

I spent 3 months at the Avenue Hotel and had a very positive experience. The two bedroom pads were large and functional and able to cameo as a second home for the time I was there.
The beds were comfy. The sound insulation good and the place stayed warm in winter. What more can you ask for?
Room service was fast and convenient, for the times I was too lazy to cook and the gym helped stave off the calories from all the room service. Because I stayed for a while I cut a sweet deal so ask management for something similar if you have longer-term plans. It meant that my apartment just got serviced once a week which was okay with me.
The location is divine and the underground carpark a huge help. The spa is a real trap though turn the nozzle speed down and fill the water level to the veey top if you want to avoid turning the bathroom into Trevi Fountain. Wifi was the only disappointment, continually dropping out at random times which made WFH a challenge. When it was up and running, it was super fast though.
All up, I was delighted was able to spend the covid quarantine at the Avenue. It felt like home and I would gladly stay there again.
A shout out to Gareth at the front desk. Head and shoulders above any of the staff there, except for maybe Fiona in housekeeping!

We checked in, parked the car and found our the suite on the fourth floor. Spacious, clean, functional. No view, but a private balcony for fresh air. Good kitchenette for cooking basic meals, dining table, lounge and a big tv. The king bedroom turned out to have the most comfortable ksb we’d had on any travels.
Bathroom was spotless. Big shower, plenty of towels and supplied toiletries. Space for our toothbrushes and everything that came with them. Laundry in the cupboard - all in one front loader worked well.
We actually extended our stay twice, to ten days, because the virus rules changed early in out stay. Suited us fine - hotel location was perfect for walking to many tourist sites, movies, restaurants, and Canberra Central shopping centre. Our only disappointment was the room service meal (from the attached restaurant) we had on the first night. It was fairly bland, though in these virus-riddled times perhaps there was some excuse.
The room was well serviced daily, and staff we encountered were all very friendly and efficient.
Highly recommended. We would not bother trying elsewhere in Canberra.

My go to apartment stay in Canberra. Excellent location, smart and modern interior and friendly staff.
The rooms are spotless, the bed so comfortable and although there was a tiny bit of road noise this time as we were in Tower 1 on the first floor we had a great stay

Great location, had a balcony room with views of the Telstra Tower. Hadn’t made a booking but staff were very accommodating and we checked in with ease. Good area outside to park the car whilst checking in. Booked with the hotel so received complimentary parking in the basement which was extremely helpful (car park always had plenty of spots but be aware it’s a tight squeeze in and out if you’ve got a big 4WD!). The room and bathroom were clean. The adjoining restaurant Marble and Grain was good, would recommend the buffet brekkie deal which is discounted if staying in the hotel. Would definitely stay here again when returning to Canberra.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment rather dark inside without any view overlooking accross to other apartments but it was quiet. The bed was extremely soft to our liking like a cloud. Bathroom very good, shiny silver tiles very chic and good laundry there too. The kitchenette was adecuate and a good full size fridge with ice trays, extra points for that! weird thing as soon you enter the apartment you get confronted with a small round table and chairs (suggest to move this?) and there was no one to help me a small frame woman go up with a large suitcase trolley steering up into the lift etc.... the reception people were not that friendly just ok. Loved the location of this place, walk out from the back, a short 10 minute walk to malls and shops and restaurants etc....also outside there are cabs and a very short walk to bus stops. We tried the restaurant downstairs twice and recommend the scallops, you need to book, it was popular!

We stayed one night on our way from Melb to Sydney. After a day long drive from Melbourne it was a good location to break up our trip.
The hotel is new (newish) and location is central. We really liked the fact that Coffee Lab was within walking distance and there are many good restaurants and cafes for breakfast coffee lunch dinner.
We stayed in room 352 which was a spa suite and it was a proper jetty spa. Very nice. Facilities in the room was all good and we particularly loved the fact that the room has a plenty of bright lights. Our room was facing the courtyard so we couldn’t really open the windows much (not very private) but the plentiful lights were helpful.
The mattress was on the soft side and we would have liked it more stable and firmer mattress but for one night it was ok.
The kitchen was well equipped and it was nice to have Nespresso machine.
The only ‘not so positive’ experience we had was lost property follow up. I left my iPhone charger at the study desk and completely forgot till we were already on the road back home Sydney.
So I rang the hotel straight away about where I left my iPhone charger and asked if the hotel could keep it till 1st of May as we booked the hotel for weekend in Canberra that week.
The reception said they were very busy but assured me that the housekeeping will get in touch with me but I never heard from them. I rang the next day to follow up and had the same answer as yesterday and I rang one more time and had the same answer. After 3 separate attempted calls I gave up. Look it’s only iPhone charger so it is no big deal but what if it was something seemingly unimportant but of significant sentimental value like wedding band or glasses frames..... very unpleasant thought.

Firstly, it's nice to be able to actually able to write a review, as it has been some time since travel has been possible. Our typical Canberra go-to accommodation is Pacific Suites, which is a few doors down from Avenue Hotel, however, SummerNats being on, combined with a late booking decision by us, meant we had to look for something new.
Things didn't get off to the best start with the 2.00pm check in not quite available due to the cleaning not complete and there were a number of guests not happy with this. The check-in staff were doing their best to handle it and whilst there wasn't that much of a delay, it still wasn't ideal after a three hour drive from Sydney. The good news was that things got better, it's by far one of the best places for parking we have ever visited, with space aplenty and unlike the Pacific Suites, our wait time for lifts didn't seem that bad, perhaps having two together is the way to do it Pacific Suites!
The room itself was very nice, spacious and clean, with a good-sized bathroom, appointed with some nice soaps etc. I didn't think the water pressure in the shower was tremendous, but it was serviceable and any complaint on my part should be filed under first world problem. One thing did annoy, which was the bar fridge, which needed to be remotely unlocked and had hardly any room for personal items. It's quite some time since I have encountered a hotel with a stocked bar fridge, I presume there is demand for it, but it might be better if the hotel asks as part of the check in process whether it's required.
The one thing that I thought was first class, was the air conditioning, it was by far the best functioning one we have encountered in some time. You could set the temperature and power and it worked!
The location is very good, just a short walk to Lonsdale Street, where there are plenty of cafes, including Sonoma, which for the southern hemisphere at least, produces quite possibly, the best pain au raisin ever. Not quite sure what they do to it, but it is wonderful.
All up, Avenue Hotel is a pretty good hotel and I would definitely consider staying there again.

We had a bad experience of this hotel. On arrival to our room we found the minibar fridge to be unclean...lots of crumbs and a sticky spill on the floor of the fridge. The food tray on top was also thick with dust. When I asked if we could be moved to another room as a result of this, they upgraded us to a better room but it had exactly the same problem. In this room some of the food was also out of date. Other aspects of the cleaning and maintenance were less than desirable. There was a panel missing from above the door in the bedroom, at some stage in our 3 day stay the panel fell off the power board and there it stayed after every service and there were many finger marks on glass doors, the microwave and the laundry doors. We also had a bad experience in the restaurant. We had breakfast there the first morning and I was given cold poached eggs. When I asked if my second one could be swapped for a hot one, I got a watery egg that tasted of vinegar. If you're going to claim to be Canberra's most luxury city accommodation then it needs to be understood that proper cleaning and maintenance are part of "luxury". And if you're going to claim to be an award winning restaurant, you need to be able to get poached eggs right.
Having said that, there were many things about this hotel that did feel like luxury. It was a pity that there seemed to be a general lack of caring overall.

Stayed here for two nights and to escape the Sydney rain and was highly impressed by the quality of the room. It was very spacious and had a full-size fridge, a coffee machine and kitchenette with toaster, kettle, microwave, dishwasher and even a washing machine and dryer for those staying longer.
Paid extra for the spa suite and the bathroom was huge. Great shower with excellent water pressure. King bed was very comfortable.
Air conditioning worked beautifully.
They also offer a $10 food / drink voucher if you don't have your room made up each day which was a nice touch.
Check-in was smooth although they wanted to charge me for parking, when I knew that if you booked THROUGH their website, parking was free. The young lady said she was new and did not know that.
It is perfectly located in the city which is close to everything, including the light rail.
The only slight knock I have is that, considering the price they charge at nearly $400 per night, I think breakfast could be included AND surely they can give you TWO soaps. (one for the basin and one for the shower????)
Maybe I am just being picky!!!!

We found a bottle shop in the Canberra centre which is in Civic say about a 600 metre walk from the Hotel's back door.
The shuttle is Monday to Friday only. But you can catch a bus to the airport from a stop that's about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
You will need your own USB ports. The alarm clock has apple ports on it. Not sure about the shuttle, but the airport is only a very quick trip by cab.
Ask for a room either facing Mort Street or facing the courtyard. If you go with courtyard, I'd request 3rf floor or above.
Sorry don’t know we drove
