The location of the hotel is very good and easily accessible, parking is also plentiful and located in the same building as the hotel.
The rooms have a very unique design that is well put together, and the staff are extremely helpful and supportive especially Tshering. He went above and beyond to make sure I had a great stay.

The Ovolo Nishi continues to be the only hotel I will stay in while visiting Canberra. The team are always stellar, the service is exceptional, and the amenities are second-to-none. A real standout for me is the bath in Meandering Atrium. It's the ultimate in luxury.
The dinner at Monster is also a standout, the staff were attentive and knew exactly when to step in and top up glasses. It was also an incredible menu that dazzled everyone from an 11 year-old, to a 42 year-old with varied tastes.

Dear Alexander L, A big thank-you for your kind words of support, it was our absolute pleasure to have had you stay with us at Ovolo Nishi. As Canberra's only Small Luxury Hotel of the World partner and Best Deluxe Hotel (ACT) 2024 we take great pride in attention to detail, service and focusing on the small details that matter. I'm pleased to know you took the opportunity to pamper yourself in our top room type the Meandering Atrium category, a popular room type for those celebrating particularly given its privacy and the large stone carved baths. Monster, our renowned restaurant is also a standout, we have many a guest coming to stay to experience it and many Canberra locals come in to dine because of its uniqueness. In pleasing news I am delighted to announce that we have just re-introduced meat to Monster menu, having decided to move away from the elevated vegetarian concept. You can now enjoy steaks, seafood, various white and red meats all paired with a new selection of Australian and local region wines. We are an inclusive dining venue and have tried to more closely align ourselves to as many tastes (and age groups) as possible, so it really makes me happy we look to have done that in your case. We do hope to welcome you back again to Ovolo Nishi. Kind regards Nicholas Wright General Manager

We had a great stay at Ovolo Nishi. The cleanliness was impeccable in general, and everyone was so friendly. Every day, the room was spotless, well-organized, and fresh, which made our stay incredibly comfortable. It's rare to find such a consistently clean and well-maintained hotel, and we truly appreciated the effort that went into keeping the rooms and common areas pristine. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone who values excellent service!

We regularly visit Canberra and decided to try a different place of stay. For a family of 4 with 2 small children, we booked a large deluxe apartment unit at this hotel. It is in a great location overlooking Lake Burley Griffin, close to many attractions. The building itself is unique and has an interesting green design. Even its interior is tastefully done with a lot of attention to character.
Upon check in, we discovered that the apartment units do NOT have any air conditioning. I have clearly overlooked this key fact during booking, as being in a room in summer on a day reaching 36'C without ac was going to be a huge challenge. Thankfully, the hotel reception staff was very accommodating and swiftly found two alternate adjoining rooms with ac! These rooms were however much smaller than the apartment unit and without kitchenette or fridge, which made it a challenge to entertain two small children.
The rooms were clean but a tad dated. The smart TVs were similarly dated, but they had built-in Chromecast, which was a big help.
We had booked breakfast, and it was a cooked one. The choices were very good with sufficient variety. Their continental plate was simply awesome.
One thing that stood out was its internal lighting, or shall we say lack of. From the elevator, to the corridors and the rooms themselves, it was dark. It was so dark that our elder child refused to enter the elevator first, which he always does anywhere else. They felt a bit creepy even in the room. Even at breakfast, there was a scarce of light.
Overall, this hotel may be a lot more suitable for grown-ups.

Hey there JaylieDad, Overall I am pleased to see that in many areas we were a pleasant stay experience for you and you found our style made for a unique stay. We are two properties in one, as you touch on; we have our Ovolo Nishi hotel (levels 1-2) and our Nishi Apartments Eco-Living by Ovolo (3-15); and there is a vast gap in style, design and functionality with the way we operate in this mixed use tower of hotel, apartments and residential. We do try to be as clear as possible on the apartment website, booking information, re-confirmations and on all applicable third parties that our apartments use passive cooling given the building eco-design, which for most of the year is not a problem, only on unusually hot days do we find it can cause discomfort, unfortunately a period aligning with your stay. I however, am pleased to see that our reception team were able to save the day and move you into air conditioned hotel rooms. There is a big difference as well in the aesthetic of our design concepts, whereas our apartments are light bright and open, our hotel rooms are dark, broody and moody. We are a design-led hotel and building aesthetic, so the design isn't to everyone's taste, but a stay at Ovolo Nishi is designed to be uniquely different and more an experience and you are right, it may be a little more suitable for grown-ups, given that style and design. I am pleased to see you enjoyed our breakfasts, we are getting a lot of great commentary on our new breakfast choices, so it appears we're moving in the right direction. I firmly believe a good breakfast is the best way to start a day. Either way, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and appreciate the candour and feedback. We do hope to welcome you back again to Ovolo Nishi. Kind regards Nicholas Wright

I stayed in a snug room and my daughter stayed in an apartment room. The snug rooms are great for a single person. Small. The bathroom is in an enclosure , partially fluted glass, within the room. For a single person it worked well and the shower was excellent. Daughter and toddler stayed in an apartment room. The furniture is basic and tired, but it worked for mother and child until she accidentally broke a glass and could not clean it up because there were no brooms etc. She had to ask for housekeeping to clean it up properly. And again when there was still glass left. Just do it properly! We had dinner on our first night, at Monster, the hotel restaurant and it was excellent… again housekeeping could do a better job in keeping the high chairs clean though. The food was excellent and lovely waitstaff. Our in room breakfast the next day was terrible. Not even salt and pepper with poached eggs. I could be specific but just a total lack of care.. On our second morning we chose to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant at $28.00 per person though barista coffee was extra. Terrible, again -no care taken. And the ‘barista coffee’ was cold. I did complain to the desk and they took it off the bill. Staff are very helpful and friendly. They try hard. This hotel could be better with some care and quality control.

The moment you step into the Ovolo you get a sense of edgy design and services. Our package included free bike hire, but you can also hire E-scooters. There is a help yourself treat bar, which is great but possibly not during Covid times. We booked the best room available which was offering plenty of space, but only limited views into an internal courtyard…..which took the shine out of our stay. It seems that all hotel rooms are situated at level 1&2 and none have the commanding views based on the sensational location. Staff were very friendly, beds were super comfy and breakfast was ok, but not fantastic. We received a breakfast pack at checkout as we were leaving very early. It was all poorly packed resulting in a great big mess. There is charged out limited guest parking under the building…..try to book a room with external windows. The free unlimited mini bar is somewhat an overstated marketing stunt…..! Some more water and soft drinks could have been handy.

Hi Evolution Time Thanks for your review. Our hotels are in fact on level 1 and 2 and we have the option for Atrium views (facing the garden) or Sun rooms which face Lake Burley Griffin. In saying that OVOLO also has multiple apartments from level 3 right up to level 15 which may be great option as these command spectacular view of Canberra. Also to note the mini bar stocks wine, beer, softs drinks and water which is refilled per day. Glad you loved our design! Thanks Gabriel General Manager

From the moment I arrived at Ovolo Nishi in Canberra, I was welcomed with genuine warmth by the friendly staff. Prayush Greeted us at the front office and kindly escourted us too.
The ambiance was effortlessly cool—artful, cozy, and uniquely inviting. My room was a masterpiece of sustainable design, with reclaimed materials, soft lighting, and earthy tones that made it both stylish and eco-conscious. I loved how Ovolo’s commitment to sustainability was woven into every detail, from minimal waste initiatives to locally sourced amenities. Staying here proved to me that luxury and sustainability can truly go hand in hand.
Also a shout out to lovely F&B team members with their charming smile who made our experience fantastic...!!!

Hey there Navigate, Our streak of great reviews continues. It's fabulous to see 5/5 across the board and I am very happy to read your kind words on our team and your experience with us. We a definitely a hotel that does things differently and provides a unique experience. Ovolo Nishi occupies the Nishi building which is NABERS six-star rated and we have an EarthCheck Bronze accreditation, so you are most definitely correct we do have a higher than many focus on sustainability in our business. This also goes for the sourcing of our food, when we set our menus we are mindful of this ethos in some of our sourcing to try and buy local where we can. I am delighted that these values matter and were recognised by you - thank-you. We do hope to welcome you back again soon to Ovolo Nishi. Kind regards Nicholas Wright

I regularly stay at Ovolo Nishi for it's convient location and excellent staff. Sometimes during busy periods it can be a little bit difficult but I think this is normal no matter where you go.
I love now that whenever I come back I'm greeted warmly by the staff, they remember my name and they leave some treats (fruit, or chocolate or both) in my room for me. As well as a lovely card.
The rooms can vary in size, so it's good to double check exactly what you need, the smaller rooms are great if you're only staying for or two days by yourself. But the larger options are incredible, I don't know what it is, the overall vibe just really calms me down, I always leave feeling refreshed.

Hey there mattheffnt, Reading more fabulous five star reviews like this helps the team and I know we are really making a difference - thank-you! Glad to know we are the only place to stay, a sentiment shared by more than just you. In our (unbiased?) opinion we think we should be the only place to stay in Canberra too . We are so pleased and delighted to have had you stay with us, and as the winner of ACT's Best Deluxe Hotel of the Year 2024 our aim is to live by the values of being a true deluxe experience. I am so glad that the recognition and effort put into welcoming you back makes that special difference and we always like to look after return guests who support us so frequently - after all, it's the least we could do. You are most correct, we do have a wide range of rooms and apartments, so we do encourage travellers to visit our website or call and speak to our reservations team to find the option that best suits them and their needs. We always encourage guests to book direct to also get the extra benefits and special rates that only booking direct can offer. Ovolo Nishi aims to be an experience, not just a stay and it's so pleasing to see we are exactly that for you. The vibe and personality this hotel offers is something truly unique that we encourage all travellers to come see for themselves. We do hope to welcome you back again soon, and again, thank-you for your kind words, they are truly appreciated by our whole team. Kind regards Nicholas Wright General Manager

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ovolo Nishi. Staff were professional and welcoming and we were greeted with a much needed glass of bubbles after a stressful drive in. Staff made sure we had a reserved parking spot to charge our EV. The room rates had reduced considerably since our booking, and staff upgraded the room and refunded the difference. The perks and social hour drinks were appreciated - especially as staff are flexible about happy hour if you ask nicely. Clean rooms, great atmosphere, and excellent staff. As an added bonus, the Ovolo Nishi is a short walk - even in the cold of winter - to the fabulous Rebel Rebel restaurant. We visit Canberra regularly and have experienced many hotels here. We will stay again at the Ovolo Nishi.
