I booked this B&B for my mother and friend who are both in their 80's, due to an accident they couldn't make it across to Canberra. Neither myself or Hotels.com could get the $190 refunded that was chaged to my credit card.
So be wary about booking this accommodation as YOU WILL be charged.
Nobody can see what is about to happen so you would think that common sense would prevail. SHAME SHAME SHAME on The Pommy Tree.
Travelling interstate for work, far away from loved ones and in unfamiliar territory can be daunting and frightening… but it doesn’t have to be that way. I was greeted at the door by Mark and his wife Debbie when I arrived in the early evening after a stressful days work at a client site in Canberra. I was welcomed into this B&B like an old friend weary from long travel and a day in the stock yards. A quick tour opened my eyes to a well groomed peaceful hideaway, antique charm with punches of modern flare. A great sized single room which was a welcome investment for this weary traveller. A modern communal kitchen with an amazing aroma of hearty meals already on the hob. Naturally it has the mod cons like foxtel to the lounge and a tv in each room, But who could be interested with so much personality in each room. Mark and Debbie are “naturally” from the UK and after my tour was over I had an overwhelming feeling that I was home. And understandably when you’re away from home and miss your family, familiarity is key to keeping it together. Mark and Deb stated that they like to make their guest’s feel like they are at home. Mission Accomplished!!
Breakfast is included with your stay and great english hospitality is not complete without a great english breakfast… but what time? “Whenever you’re ready for it. And I do believe that Mark is in the right business. What a breakfast! Simply the most amazing food I have ever had at any stay ever. Dinner is additional to your costs but you’ll be disappointed if you don’t take up this offer. Mark offered an array of tasty, mouthwatering traditional English dishes. Chicken, Fish, Lamb and Beef, not to mention the additional inclusion of a tasty dessert and bottle of the local drop and wait for it….. “Whenever you’re ready for it”. I had the pleasure of these fine peoples company for two nights. Mark loves a yarn and so do I, in the courtyard over a bottle of red. Hospitality is about more than just measurable service or stars. It’s about being “hospitable” Mark and Debbie are amazing hosts, it truly felt like a home away from home. I will be returning to “The Pommy Tree” again and again and so should you.

One very happy customer
Your hosts Debbie and Mark are Pommies themselves and love to share their hospitality the moment you walk in the door. The accommodation is warm and welcoming and brand new with renovations completed last year. Our room had a double bed with en-suite and topped off with plush towels and bath robes. The cooked breakfast was amazing and they accommodated our request for chicken sausages as well.
After coming home from a late dinner we were welcomed with a night cap of Port and Baileys and cheese with crackers. Afternoon snacks were plentiful with Homemade Pizza and Quiche and a glass of local wine to wash it down. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they also have 'The Entertainment Book' for guests to use and take advantage of the vouchers for movies, dinners, etc.
Debbie and Mark are so lovely, cheerful and accommodating they will make your stay something special to write home about. 10 out of 10.
The bedroom was very roomy, and we had a lot of stuff as we were travelling with a toddler. The beds were comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. We were able to use the bath in the main bathroom to bathe our daughter and as there was a single room free we were able to put our daughter's portacot in that room.
Debbie even went so far as to purchase a child safety gate to protect our daughter from falling down the stairs to their apartment.
Nothing was too much trouble. Recommendations on where to go, brochures in the book in our room.... All made for a great stay. We were a bit sad to leave!!
