I spent two nights there with my wife. The sauna that was attached to the room where we stayed was fantastic. The nicest view was from the restaurant upstairs, and the service was excellent. A young lady sonan from the restaurant was incredibly helpful and remembered my coffee order when I went for breakfast on the second day, which made me feel good about our stay. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at the Canberra Rex hotel and the breakfast was excellent.

We stayed in the sauna room, and it was great, two televisions, ample room to place your luggage and sit down. Great long window with views over the city. Managed to get an undercover parking space as well. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable, the shower was excellent, and the sauna was very enjoyable. Overall excellent value for money and I would return.

Quite large room with a comfortable bed. The hotel has a gym, reasonably well equipped and maintained that guests can easily access. Located about 100 metres from a light rail station. Had breakfast one morning and one morning only. Not value for money - poor selection of food, the coffee tasted terrible, and the bacon was cold and hard. I had report writing to do and the chair in the room was too low, so I sat on the bed pillows. It is advertised that an office chair was available on request so I requested it and was told that this was unavailable!

Room was lovely, spacious and well equipped. Booking was easy, reasonable price, easy to find hotel. Breakfast needs improvement. Staff do not check and top up food such as bacon and eggs. Limited cereals, no bircher muesli offered, limited fruit and very limited pastries.

From the moment we arrived until we checked out, we felt relaxed. The hotel is located on the main road but we didn’t hear any street noise. The views from the room and roof top bar were stunning. We decided to upgrade our room to a 2 room king room which was lovely. Bed was comfortable and the sitting area was comfortable. Room service food was delicious and quick to be delivered. Roof top bar had a good atmosphere and again, the food was amazing. Would recommend and would choose The Rex again.

The hotel is very good for the money but quite a distance from major attractions. Very clean except under the bed, I dropped a ring and was surprised at all the lost articles, and fluff. The shower door was extremely noisy. Receptionists were very obliging

DO NOT accept a booking inside Room 101. The hotel does not ensure you have a good night sleep, in fact would prefer you have no sleep at all. The room next door at #102 has a spa bath and there is no acoustic sound boarding between the two rooms. When the loud speaking and excessive talking folk in Rm #102 decided to run the spa between 0100 to 0500 hrs, the spa had three distinct sounds of water, pump and a shrill jack hammer type sound that screeched, eeking right next to where the bed is placed. I initially thought my room was next to the hotel laundry when I woke to hear the horrid sound of some water pipes that need some serious maintenance work. Despite the hotel policy that requests guests do not use the spa after midnight, they are not able to enforce this request and so if you are the unfortunate paying guest in the room next door, your wellbeing does not actually count. The very helpful overnight desk staff called the folk in #102 and knocked on the door several times to no avail: the spa continued and they refused to answer calls or answer the door. I was offered another room at 0400 in the morning (!!!!) and tried to sleep without success due to the level of distress I was experiencing and I eventually went back to my room #101 at 0530 to try to calm down with a cup of tea. Since I booked through a third party, the hotel did not offer a full refund nor did they offer to cover the cost of a full night stay in the future, rather the offer was for an upgraded room or 20% off my next stay. Clearly the wellbeing of the excessively loud & talkative guests were a priority over my own wellbeing, despite paying for a service (ie overnight sleep) that did not occur. The argument provided by the manager was that it was not the hotel's responsibility to manage other people's behaviours therefore they could not refund me. I wonder if it is the hotel's responsibility to provide decent sound proofing between rooms and to ensure the water pipes don't create shrill sounds that keep patrons awake all night? …

Excellent location, 10 minute walk to the central business district. Across the road from the light rail stop. Excellent roof top bar with delicious food and amazing skyline views of Canberra and its surrounds. My second stay here. Would definitely stay again. Our suite was spacious, bright, airy and quiet.
