The Hyatt Hotel Canberra garners mixed reviews, with its historic charm and prime location near attractions earning praise from many guests. While the rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and comfort, some visitors feel the decor is dated. The hotel's cleanliness, especially in the bathrooms and public spaces, is frequently highlighted. However, the service quality receives varied feedback, with some guests encountering exceptional care, while others face delays. Additional costs, such as overpriced breakfast and parking fees, have made several travelers question the hotel's value.

Excellent hotel that I find fits my family's style. A very grand entrance hall met our eyes as we walked in and the staff at the service counter were very kind and helped us do the check in process really quickly. The room was extremely well cleaned and contained slippers, tooth brushes, soap and body wash. The bed was very comfy. If your family is larger than 3 members, use the telephone to call the front desk to give you an extra bed.

Beautifully presented, gorgeous rooms - staff were excellent. Pool needs ventilation however (enclosed and smelling too much of chlorine so we didn't use it). Best gym EVER! Location unbelievable and close to major attractions.
Breakfast a bit expensive and when we were there, there were heaps of loud children (but no one can help that really). However their squeals echoed up throughout the rooms above.
Overall very satisfying and a really gorgeous hotel. Highly recommend.

Beautiful and gracious old hotel set amongst lush and well kept gardens. Easy access to Canberra’s bike paths and the lake; concierge was happy to store our e-bikes for us. We stayed in the most basic room but that was sufficiently comfortable, spacious, and luxurious apart from a minor issue with the air conditioning. Coffee machine in the room, well equipped bathroom with a huge bath, and a wonderful buffet breakfast (worth the cost) made the experience memorable. The pool and spa were very pleasant, if crowded. The hotel has EV charging although if you’re not paying for parking in their car park the chargers can only be accessed when the concierge is working and can accompany you.

Difficult to describe how far this once great hotel in Canberra has fallen. A highlight used to be the food on offer, from in-room dining, to the cafe breakfast, to the high tea, and the restaurant. When we stayed, there was little that seemed to be even open. Breakfast - once outstanding - was a bit like a pretentious motel - but very expensive. The menu for in-room dining was small and never changed over the 5 days we stayed. Some food was so salty as to be inedible. It's as if the hotel has gone on an efficiency drive, and offering the little extras is no longer part of its DNA. They claim to accept debit cards for payment, but the staff couldn't make the system work for me, nor for another person who was checking-out at the same time. Ccredit cards, on the other hand, incur a hefty surcharge.

The Hyatt Hotel Canberra is a beautiful property and is unsurpassed in Australia for its character and history. Our room wth a balcony in the heritage wing was perfect and really well equipped. Everything was in great condition and the amenities, including bath products, linen etc were luxurious. The breakfast was impressive and the a la carte casual dinner was also of a high quality with responsive service.

The lobby lounge on this and indeed our last visit did not meet the same standards as the Promenade Cafe. We didn't have a booking for an early Friday evening drink and queued to get a table behind another couple who had a few questions of the hostess. After about 4 minutes a manager came to seat us and had trouble finding a clean table and when he found one gave us food menus as we had mentioned that we were there for some food and a drink. We asked other staff twice for a drinks list and water. Once the drinks were ordered after 20 minutes we had to ask for water for our friends. We were offered nuts for our second bottle of champagne but not our first. In the 70 minutes that we were there none of the tables around us were cleared. This was almost identical to our last experience and on both occasions the place wasn't busy and there were plenty of staff. Staff were pleasant but not proactive, I wondered if the venue was more for high tea where the offerings are fixed and if we should have been at another bar if we wanted focussed and individualised service. I also ordered food and it was delicious and delivered promptly. In all there did not appear to be a systematic approach to service or to maintaining the room in the Lobby Bar.

Check in and check out were fine and overall the stay was really enjoyable. It is certainly the best hotel we have stayed at in Canberra but the drinks service was not up to the standard of other Park Hyatt's that we have stayed at, such as in Auckland. On balance we can't wait to return and will try another drinks venue next time at the Speakers Corner.

For a room that was supposedly of a high standard, (not a basic room), the room facilities were very disappointing. From the non air conditioned hallway to the room, the bizarre lights that didn’t offer a bedside reading light, to the room air conditioning that was so noisy we had to turn it off, the TV that had some obscure way to watch your own streaming service.
One of the staff said the air conditioning had a problem in the main lobby, this should have been a priority to repair as it was extremely uncomfortable trying to relax.
As the hotel was so uncomfortable we enquired about checking out early, which we did, we were charged $200 for cancelling!
I noticed on the bill GST was an additional charge, this should be highlighted on booking.
Overall we were very disappointed with our stay.

The Canberra Hyatt is always a wonderful place to stay in Canberra. The hotel has an Art Deco ambience and is in a prime location near the lake that allows you to walk to many of the key tourist destinations (eg Art Galleries, Questacon, Old Parliament House etc). It is also very well setup for travelling with both young children and/or elderly relations as there are large enclosed air-conditioned spaces.
The one downside is a lack of variety in dining (& room service) options. The fancy restaurant has excellent food (at a price to match) ...but for multi-night stays, the casual menu is pretty limited & unfortunately the chips/fries tasted as if they were cooked the day before

The Hyatt Canberra is at the top pf the pack when it comes to Canberra Hotels. It's location is a very easy ten minute walk to the Art Gallery, Library and the Lake.

We had a king room for three nights, they are spacious and very well appointed with all the amenities that the seasoned traveler would expect from a high quality Hotel. The bed was very comfortable, the marble walled and floor bathroom with bath and shower has lots of space. The staff were very helpful, friendly and polite.
There is plenty of undercover car parking and electric car charging is available.

The Restaurant's ambiance is restful and has a wide choice of culinary offerings, all cooked and presented to perfection. Is the Hyatt worth the $300 Plus per night....yes it is, It's not just another Five Star Hotel it's a touch of class that is an opulent experience worth every cent.

I regularly stay at the Canberra Hyatt for business, but on this occasion I stayed with my extended family. The Hyatt is an even better hotel for family stays with excellent facilities such as the Gym and indoor pool. It's location is perfect for easy access for visiting sites such as the National Gallery gallery, Questacon and the lake. The rooms are large and having a large bath is a bonus with younger children. The staff are exceptionally helpful and great with the children. My 23 year old daughter said the bed was the most comfortable she had ever experienced and she had never slept so well.
I can unreservedly recommend the Canberra Hyatt.

If you do want to glimpse the fireworks you would need a balcony room on the lakeside. I would suggest just walking down to the lake itself.
