The hallways are really dreary, possibly scary to some. The swimming pool is jammed into a small area beside the restaurant, butting right up to the windows.
The buffet breakfast is pretty good but they wouldn't allow eggs cooked to order ... only poached and scrambled in bulk. Evening meal was terrible offering pre-frozen entrees that are fried up, etc.
Staff are all friendly. Rooms are spacious including a large work space and beds are very good. Location is OK if driving. A bit far from the popular tourist sites.
There was built up mould and scum on the walls near the bathroom, the flyscreen was falling off and had holes in it.
We paid for 3 nights as we needed to evacuate from our town due to the Bushfires and we had no where to go, Canberra is 3 hours away and was safe for us. We had no money from work etc due to last minute evacuation. The night we arrived we got offered free accommodation so the next morning at 9am I went to the front desk to say we would be leaving and explained our situation. They wouldn't give us a refund on the other two nights - they did give a discount on the cheapest night but while hundreds of other hotels and homes were been given out for free to genuine evacuees they still refused to give me a refund on our two unused nights.
Very poor form.
I can not recommend this hotel, it was quite disgusting and I am very surprised that Ibis allow their name to be on it.
But when I read that the free in room wifi was only 2gb downloads per day and I had my laptop with me which I recently bought and brought it with me so I could watch some of my own movies on it instead of using the tv instead which I’ve always hated because of the mouse feature on the remote!
So when I found out that they only allowed 2gb of data per day I thought that was pretty low as it doesn’t take long to go through 2gb when you are online so I ended up using my own data on my phone and using it as a personal hotspot to my laptop instead. If they had unlimited data to use then I’d use them instead of my own data!
One thing I’ve always liked about this place is that there’s plenty of parking available! Compared with other hotels where there’s limited parking available and you got to get in early or just don’t drive anywhere so you’ll still have your own parking spot still otherwise you’ll have to park on the street instead if you get back late. Where as here you can come back anytime and you’ll always get a parking spot!
Apart from the low data usage which is annoying and the occasional dirty curtains and other dirty things it’s a great place to stay as everything is extremely central and close to everything and free parking and lots of it!
I’m not sure what the scope of housekeeping was but everyday they would clean and dry the shower but the bathroom floor was neither swept nor mopped. In Room 2 there was a dubious smear/ stain on the bottom lip of the bathroom sink that was not cleaned off for the duration of our stay.
Most unpleasant of all, in Room 1 I noticed what I can only assume were specks of blood on the two sanitary items positioned on the sink. I put them in the bin. The next day these same two items had been neatly repositioned with the other bathroom amenities on the sink - REVOLTING! Instead of emptying it, why are housekeeping removing items from the waste bin and giving them back to the guests?! We did not put anything else in the bins after that and used the public bin outside.
We did not have any meals here so cannot comment.
The Front Office staff we dealt with were friendly and efficient.
Would not choose to stay here again
It stunk like urine, after bringing it to attention of front desk... They offered me air freshener.
The walls, floors and lounge were stained, drawn on, and the couch was so saggy it couldn't be sat on.
The "fully equipped kitchen" had 2 butter knives and no glasses. The kitchen bench was continually drenched from an unidentified leak.
As mentioned, the strong smell of urine came from the sticky and scummy bathroom. We purchased our own toilet paper as the single sheet dispenser was useless. We felt dirtier AFTER having been in the shower.
We couldn't run the air conditioner of a night as the outdoor unit was rattling and buzzing right outside the bedroom window. The blinds didn't work, and the flyscreens had fallen off the windows.
We felt disgusting and uncomfortable staying in this old, dank, dirty "apartment". We actively went and spent time elsewhere so not to be in it until we finally just cut our trip short and left.
After mentioning this to front desk we were met with a vacant stare and a "sorry about that. Your room has been fully paid so...."
At $160 a night, this room was disgusting.
Worst hotel experience in my life.
2. They failed to honour their price match guarantee.
3. Breakfast was good and kids enjoyed pancake maker and free ice-cream.
4. Hotel was very crowded and parking was not as accessible as envisaged.
I will avoid ACCOR in the future unless I have no other option
Room walls are very thin, could hear everything from other rooms, street and hallway. The entry to the ‘wing’ where our room was located was a very odd and dangerous position if you have kids. As you drive into the entry driveway on the driveway on either side are doors into the hotel. One of these doors was the entry to our wing where our room was located. You are literally walking up the driveway to access your room. It was quiet at the time, but I wouldn’t want kids coming and going out that door right onto the driveway. Very strange.
Didn’t use the pool, or breakfast facilities. Can’t say much about location as we have a car and things are pretty close in Canberra. Only one staff member on at a time, running reception and bringing items/fixing problems with guests. He was very helpful and attended to our needs (towels and tv remote) immediately in a friendly and professional manner.
I would not stay here again though in spite of it being cheap, was just a depressing place to stay.
Reception is the worst experience I have ever had anywhere I have stayed. Check in was ok but very slow (apparently new staff member). Did ask to check my drivers licence and then I thought nothing of that until I realised on the last night that I did not have my licence. On searching everywhere and then asking at reception on the morning that I was leaving, found that it was at reception in draw with other papers on it. My point is, all my details are on my licence, why did no one bother to check and see if I was a guest and contact me and let me know to collect it at reception. I purchased a can of soft drink at reception and was told it was $8.00. Queried this a couple of times and as told no that is correct. After the third ? was told Oh sorry my mistake is should be $4.00. Hmmmmm mistake or something else. Mind you, when settling my account the charge for the soft drink was on my account even though I had paid for it in cash the night before. Luckily the lady at reception recalled me and apologised for the error and took the charges off the account. Next charged for 2 people for our breakfasts, only 1 person on the booking, had to be adjusted.
I really think there needs to be a review done of the reception and hospitality areas and have some more training given to the staff.
I am an Accor member and this hotel just does not meet their standards.
Normally I always receive a request to complete a review from the hotel, not from this one, maybe they do not want to publish the reviews they are receiving.
In this room this time, TV remote didn't work properly, even after helpful staff member, apparently the only one on duty, tried to fix it by replacing batteries.
On the plus side comfortable bed, good aircon, terrible shower with no place to put soap etc. Good price.
