We were disappointed to find that there was a forty minute wait for dinner due to a large conference being held at the hotel. We were also disappointed that there was no breakfast offered on a Sunday morning. However, the room was very comfortable.
Spent last night at the Ramada, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was large, light, with modern styling in shades of white, black and dark blue - very comfortable, as was the bed. Our meals were coach-style, alternates of fall-off-the-bone delicious lamb shanks or barramundi (reported as lovely), followed by 2 desserts. Breakfast this morning was plates of bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, scrambled egg, hash browns and toast (Buffet-style is at present taboo) and delicious, but mor than I could eat.COVID precautions were evident everywhere.
First of all nobody answered my call to take the initial booking. I then booked using an online third party site. On arrival I was charged another $200 security holding deposit. I was trapped in continuing with the booking because the money for the stay was already paid. There is no breakfast on weekends except a ‘grab and go’ snack bar near reception. On the weekday morning I stayed, I attempted to order room service breakfast. I was the told it was not possible, I would have to go to the restaurant. I lost valuable time and was late for my first meeting, because the only option I had was to sit and wait in the restaurant. Four phone calls were then made over the course of a week to retrieve the $200 and to get something as simple as my receipt for the stay. This had the potential to be an ongoing arrangement due to work commitments, but not now. The draw card is that this hotel is much cheaper than others in the area. Always remember, you get what you pay for. The unnecessary pressure with time frames and repeated attempts for basic things such as a receipt would not make it worth my while returning. The $200 still remains outstanding and I have been advised it’s my responsibility to follow up with my bank. Think carefully if you’re prepared to accept the inconvenience for cheaper accommodation. If you are, then it’s the place for you. If you’re not into dealing with all the issues I’ve mentioned, give it a wide birth.…
Rooms were excellent, comfy beds, easy parking, friendly staff. Have probably overplayed the covid game with the pool closed (no chlorine?), gym closed, gardens grounds unswept, no breakfast except cold takeaway. Only 2 staff on some times for reception and bar, although they are very efficient. Lift is handy
An OK hotel, but nowhere near the quality of some of Canberra's newer hotel stock, and the difference is not fully reflected in the price (but does account for why there were still rooms to be had here when all the other hotels nearby were fully booked). The restaurant is soulless, and the menu unimaginative. There were special steak/schnitzel deals, but I opted for the "authentic Italian pizza". It's not. That said, the rooms were large and clean, and the bed comfortable.
