Welcome to Mercure Canberra, a part of Canberra's history Originally known as the Hotel Ainslie, Mercure Canberra was built to provide accommodation for public servants relocating to Canberra to support the transfer of the Commonwealth Parliament. It is one of eight remaining government built hotels or hostels from Canberra's first stage of development in the 1920s and is listed in the Register of the National Estate. Mercure Canberra is historically significant for its important role in the development of North Canberra and the forging of its community identity. While maintaining many original features, the hotel embraces the need for 21st century comforts to ensure you feel welcome and have an enjoyable stay. Our 129 guest rooms are well appointed and have been decorated in keeping with the heritage style of the building. Our Standard rooms are located in the Heritage wing, with the layout and style of room not changing from the hotels' original days. For those looking for a more modern layout, you may wish to select one of our Superior or Deluxe Loft rooms in the newer part of the building. Our guests have the option to dine at our onsite Courtyard Restaurant serving modern Australian cuisine in the evening and a choice of Continental or Buffet breakfast in the morning. Those looking for a more casual dining experience can enjoy Bistro style meals from our Olims Bar & Bistro, a favourite spot for hotel guests and locals to mingle, serving Craft Beers & Cider from our very own Lovedale Brewery Our location is ideal. 600m from the Australian War Memorial commemorating those who serve our country, both past and present. Most of Canberra's National Attractions are within 10 minutes' drive from the hotel and the CBD is and easy 10 minute walk away and offers a wide range of cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as shops and a Dendy Movie Cinema. Our team at Mercure Canberra look forward to making you feel welcome when you plan your next stay in beautiful Canberra, Australia

Canberra lockdown and a move to Queensland sent us into a spin. With no furniture, no car and our animals being sent ahead, left us with no where to live whilst we waited for the elusive border pass for us to travel. The manager and staff at the Mercure welcomed us and looked after us really well with friendly efficient service for the 2 weeks we had to wait . No request was too hard.

Having to visit Canberra on a regular basis becomes almost routine but we always look forward to our stay at the Mecure. The staff are fantastic, Chris, Lyn, Caitlin, Dyshna (the Indian lass who runs the bar) are all excellent, just to name a few. We always ask for a room away from families with children after several unfortunate sleepless nights so it’s all good now. We would highly recommend the Mecure.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 days, leaving country NSW for a quick break away. We're both first responders and we thought a couple of days away would be the break we needed. When we arrived, it appeared the rooms had not been cleaned properly, with dust along the walls and make up and finger marks on the doors and in the bathroom. We both sleep with two pillows. When we found the spares, it looked like one of them had never been changed in its lifetime. The cover was worn down and the pillow itself had seen better days. Now on to the best bit, when we were checking out to leave and returned to our car, some nice local had jammed a stick in both rear tyre valves, releasing the air out of both rear tyre's. They then scratched my car on two separate locations. When my wife advised hotel staff of this, the best they could offer was the handman to come put air in the tyres. But wait, it gets better. The handman comes with his compressor and because he can't plug it in, he can only put air in one tyre and a little in the other. We were told they don't have camera's in that section of the hotel. The car is less then 3 months old. The worst part is, we're without a car for weeks while it gets repaired. Safe to say we won't be returning and won't be recommending this hotel

This was my first visit to Canberra Mercure, I stayed for 2 night, June 18th till 20th. Everyone there was fantastic, from the lovely, friendly staff on the front desk to the incredibly helpful cleaning staff. The room was clean, warm, comfy. I ate both nights at the restaurant too, great food. Looking forward to staying again next time with my wife. Thank you Mercure Canberra
