This was my second stay. As an off campus student, it's a bargain compared to many other expensive and limited accommodation options in Canberra. The single bed was super comfy to sleep on and the room is perfectly suited to my student needs, desk, shelving, wardrobe, and small vanity sink area and well heated rooms. There were a couple of nights that the temperature dropped quite low and I felt the bedding wasn't sufficient for Canberra winter, even with the heating on.

The shared bathroom and kitchens aren't great. Not much crockery or cutlery. It's quite sparse. I packed my own pocket knife and brought additional kitchen items in preparation for my second trip. There's a large shared kitchen on the ground floor, which is more suited to long term residents, short term stays have the option of basic amenities on the same level of your room. There's no detergent in the shared kitchen, tea towels were replaced every other day and it's just two microwaves, a toast press and an electric kettle which was faulty and needed to be replaced. A large shared commercial fridge was great to store refrigerated items.

Laundry facilities were fine, $4 per wash additional $4 for drying. My first stay was in April and compared to this second trip, I noted slight improvements such as complimentary toiletries in the shared bathroom. There's a lot to be desired for here. The three rooms I stayed in don't look as good as the photo's. The best thing about this place is good comfy bed and located in Braddon, close to public transport, Haig Park Markets and retail / cafes close by and walking distance to Canberra city.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay, this is it, but keep your expectations low. I've since decided to pay a little bit extra for better quality accomodation with similar better facilities.

If the shared bathrooms and kitchens facilities on the sleeping floors were better, I'd reconsider staying here.

They have both nightly rates for short-term stays and weekly rates for long-term stays, with reasonable pricing.

Staff are friendly and helpful, strict with rules, yet fair towards all. Reception is open office hours on weekdays I think.

Common facilities such as bathrooms and kitchenette kept clean always.

The place to stay if you're new in town.

Good things:
• The room we stayed in was warm.
• We had a kettle, 2 cups, and tea/coffee-making supplies
• we had a fridge in the room, although it may have been off as I didn't hear it at all...
• The room was nice and dark at night
• plenty of parking
• right across the road from the light rail, which will take you to the city in 2 stops (or you can walk for 25 minutes)
• friendly staff
• very clean
• comfortable bed
• while the walls were thin, it was a quiet place

Could be better:
• finishing was not well done (eg. Paint work around towel rack in en suite basically non-existent, unused power point and cabling gaffer tapes in the corner)
• obviously was nice a bigger room split into 2 as there was a bookshelf built onto the wall that a wall has been made around, so half the bookshelf was in our room and half was next door.
• walls are thin - obviously the room next to ours was also an en suite room, as we could hear whenever our neighbours used the toilet.

Things I found to be actual problems:
• in our en suite bathroom there was a fan, a pair of heat lamps, a normal light and a flourescent above the sink. Of all these, only one heat lamp was working. Obviously light globes blowing is a reality, and so I was very aware that of this final heat lamp blew we would have no light in there. Also, just seemed a bit shoddy to have so many lights not working.
• at 7:30am, someone was vacuuming outside our door which woke me up. Then, eventually, they made their way down the hall way and I could fall back to sleep, and then they came back past and woke me up again. The walls are thin, so it was like they were in my room, and they were definitely doing a through job, not a quick pass over. I found this unreasonably early for me who had booked this accommodation because I was coming to Canberra to see a show at the Theatre which had me out until late, and not in bed until 12.30am. For my 5 hour drive home, I had hoped to sleep until much closer to check out time. If anything about my stay actually bothered me, it was this.

Conclusion:
Great accommodation if you are looking for a nice budget option close to the city. I would definitely stay again. I would love if the vacuuming could wait until 9am.

I loved the Canberra Accommodation Centre. It was inexpensive, not too far away from where I needed to go (which was mostly the ANU campus), compact, efficient, and yet it had everything I needed. The room had a sink, and the bathroom was a shared one right across from it. There was also an electric kettle, towels, two mugs and two spoons. I had a room with a double bed, with just me in it, but a couple could have stayed there comfortably. I spent three nights in it, and I would have been happy to stay longer. The bathroom was usually empty and I never had to wait to use a toilet or take a shower. This ended up being the most popular accommodation for people going to the conference I was going to, and I overheard other people who came here saying good things and telling other people they should have booked here as well. There are even laundry room. I used the washer and dryer for free, but I see another review says these cost money, so maybe I was supposed to get someone to do the laundry for me and be charged for it. To me, it seemed free. The wifi was decent enough, but wouldn't be good for streaming. There was a TV, which I didn't use. The walls are thin, but it was quiet at night for me. Someone in the room next to me had a phone alarm that would periodically go off for some reason, and it sounded like their phone was in my room. I had a friend over and we were both checking our phones to see whose it was. But I had no problem sleeping. I used good ear plugs, just in case. Also, the room I was in blocked out the light very well. There was just a small amount of light coming in from the crack in the door. The window had a blackout blind as well as another normal blind in front of it, both of which could be lifted or lowered. The staff was friendly and helpful as well, and it's easy to do a self-check in at any time. (I got in very late.) It's also very simple to check out. I felt it said something very good about Canberra that there was a housing option like this. I wish every major city had something equivalent: inexpensive, efficient, and yet very nice.

This is a light touch upgrade of the former ANU Fenner Hall. It provides good budget accommodation. Shared bathroom, shared kitchen facilities, and a very small but serviceable room with a sink and good sized (original Fenner Hall) desk. Freshly painted, bed is ok, everything is clean, linen and towels are good quality. Smell of paint gave me hayfever but to be expected. An easy walk (3 blocks) to Braddon shops. There is a small convenience store next door. No fridge in room. I expected it to be more noisy but it was quiet and I never had to wait for the bathroom. If you are comfortable with ex-student digs with a fresh coat of paint, this will suit you. I chose it because the prices elsewhere were very high during sitting Parliament and the desk was good for working,

Just recently stayed for five days, chose to stay here as it’s well located and great price especially for an extended stay. It’s currently being progressively upgraded from previous uni accommodation. The rooms are clean and comfortable, good location, so covers the budget basics well. It was full most nights I was there but I didn’t have any trouble with noise or getting access to shower/toilets.
There’s no fridge in the room I stayed in, but a kitchenette (fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle) on each floor and large kitchen on the ground floor. The only suggestions I’d make would be for additional crockery, glasses/mugs, cutlery be provided in the kitchenettes. I will stay again without hesitation!

Found room to be reasonably quiet , very clean with fresh linen.
Great shower, pity tv was not working but great rates for accommodation that close to the city centre.
People can't really complain about it not being 4 star when you pay great rates like this.

We booked a double room w/ shared bath and stayed for 2 nights.

The staff at the reception are very friendly and will answer your questions. We arrived by coach from Melbourne, which comes at around 6 AM. We were sent access codes to the centre before we arrived, so we were able to come in and wait at the lounge for reception to open at 9 AM. Luckily, there was a free room and we were able to checkin as early as 10 AM!

Our room was on the 9th floor. It was quite clean. Though, they can do without the random throw pillow in the bed. There's a sink inside the room. There's shared kitchen with a fridge to store food. The bathroom is also clean with shampoo, soap, and a hairdryer. The light rail was just outside, just need to cross the street.

If you visit on a hot summer night, you will not be able to sleep well in your room because there's no airconditioning and you can only open the windows a little bit. They do have a heater which I hope works on the cold winter days. The walls are thin, so pray that you don't have loud neighbors.

Checkin and checkout was easy. We were even able to leave our luggage at the reception after we checked out, to explore bit more while waiting for our coach trip back to Melby. Overall, the accommodation is decent for staying a couple nights. We were worried because of the bad reviews, but it wasn't so bad during our stay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are glad that you had a good experience at our facility. However, we are sorry to hear about the thin walls and not having air-conditioning in the room. The room you booked is on a high floor where installing air conditioning was not suitable therefore we provide a portable fan in the summer that gives fresh air same as air conditioning does. As we always aim to deliver a good experience. We will use your feedback to improve and to ensure our guest visiting in summer can sleep peacefully and doesn't have noisy neighbors. Thank you again for your feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

$130/night is not 'budget' accommodation in my books, and I expected some form of amenities and service. How wrong I was. I did not get welcomed, and only saw a receptionist once. No advice of what was available in the hotel for me to utilise. I did not get any soap. There was a single inconvenient powerpoint, and I had to buy my own one to be able to watch TV and charge my phone at the same time. One awful fluoro light not quite above the grimy mirror over the sink. Barely enough floor space to walk in and get changed before falling onto the badly sprung bed - my back has been giving me grief for days after coming home. No communication about room cleaning or wifi (I don't know if either are even provided). Every door was slammed at all hours, and it was loud, ugly slamming. Oh, and the laundry room was two doors down from my room, and people would very helpfully start their washing loads around 10pm, and it would loudly churn for hours.

The location is the only vaguely convenient aspect of this property, but I would have had a better time sleeping in my car.
