The Burbury Hotel offers a central location that earns high marks from many guests for its proximity to dining and attractions, although privacy has been a concern for a few. While some travelers find the hotel to be a budget-friendly choice, others caution about unexpected charges.
The rooms are generally celebrated for their spaciousness and comfort, yet remarks about inconsistent cleanliness and maintenance do surface. The hotel's service and amenities receive mixed feedback, with commendations for its dining options and some staff members' attentiveness, counterbalanced by reports of disorganization.

Our Canberra trip was a quickly planned one and Burbury had a good last minute deal for an over night stay. The hotel was centrally located which made easy to see the tourist attractions.
They have secure 2 levels of underground car parking which was free
Reception staff is so friendly and always have a smiling face :)
Rooms are big and beds are comfy with Wifi access.
Guests can order food/beverages or make spa reservations through an iPad which was available in the room,
which looked pretty cool.
The bathroom had severe noise while taking shower or opening the tap (when water is flowing), which is heard at the room as well.
This was disappointing.
After taking a shower, the whole bathroom was filled up with water(the water will flow to the rest of the bathroom).
Overall one night stay was good

Fantastic location but average motel. Rooms were dusty and dirty. People who suffer from asthma should avoid. Bed was not comfortable and felt cheap. I think for the price you pay for this motel, you should be able to have a comfortable bed and not have thick dust on bed heads/tv. Staff at front were also not that friendly.

Pre-covid: I would rate this hotel 5/5. This was my first trip back since Covid and i was very disappointed with the stay. Firstly, the room was filthy, the worse being the bathroom which i felt cleaner going into than coming out of. The shower head was broken, there was mould everywhere the floors looked dirty in general.
I stayed for 2 nights, i left the room at 8:30AM and switched on my house keeping light. I came back at 4:30PM to find the room had not been cleaned so I asked reception if someone could come clean up the room which they apologised and said they would send someone at 5PM. I returned to the room at 8PM to find that it still hadn't been cleaned. I spoke with reception and they said "we told rooming keeping, not sure what happened" and that was it, nothing else was done or followed up.

Having seen some negative reviews on the Burbury hotel, we took a gamble and booked for 4 nights over New Years. We found the room very clean and comfortable and relatively quiet. (Hint: we stayed at the back of the hotel away the entrance) It is within walking distance to old/new Parliament House, art and portrait gallery as well as Kingston foreshore. The staff were friendly and attentive and couldn't fault them. Unfortunately the on site restaurants were closed due to the quiet period (no parliament) but we had excellent food and drinks at the atmospheric Ostani at sister Hotel across the road where we couldn't fault the service either.
Thank you for a great stay!

After many trips to Canberra over the years we decided to try a new hotel, so it was our first stay at the Burbury Hotel. It was a very pleasant surprise, located in a quieter area but not too far from Kingston Foreshore or Manuka shops and restaurants. It is also surrounded by other hotels from the same group which allow to share access to facilities and more dining options. The moment we arrived at the reception we were welcomed warmly by Shielline who made us very comfortable in our choice of hotel. The rooms are a good size and well designed with a great layout. Access from the car park underneath direct to the room floor was very easy and convenient. A comfortable bed with lovely sheets, great shower and plenty of wardrobe space made it perfect for our stay. We look forward to staying again very soon. Highly recommended.

The hotel rooms are very spacious and mostly well looked after however some of the units do no have access to an elevator, meaning on arrival my family and myself had to clamber up 4 flights of stairs to get to our room.....with luggage! The wifi is quite slow and dropped out quite often and some of the utensils in the kitchen are broken and unable to be used. DONT BE FOOLED, people staying at the burbury hotel do not have access to the pool, steam room and spa as this is reserved exclusively for people staying at the realm hotel across the road, despite the in room iPad saying that it can be used. Overall, the hotel is neat and tidy however will not be staying at again!

We stayed in a 2br apartment for a long weekend. The apartments are in a building separate from the hotel, but connected through the underground car park, and don't have lifts so ours was a 2nd floor walk up.
The apartment was very nice and well equipped with everything we needed to be able to cook and do laundry; you could stay there for an extended period. The Burbury/Realm complex has a good range of eating/bar facilities as well, and we went to Ostani a couple of times.

+1
This is our regular stopping point in Canberra. The location is excellent, the service at reception is friendly helpful and courteous. The free undercover parking a bonus when compared to other hotels in Canberra which charge up to $15 per night.
The lack of a food area is somewhat over come by Maple + Clove 50m away from breakfast and the Realm across the road. Thought not a real restaurant. Plenty within walking distance.
This time some points of disappointment where, the curtains where off their runners and hard to open and close, no light bulb in the bedside lamp and a badly stain towel was in the clean towels provided.

Was really looking forward to our stay at this property as it was the first chance we had as a family to travel outside of NSW due to restrictions. We havce an apartment in Macquarie 5, Apartment 6.
Check in was smooth and the checkin agent was very helpful and friendly, however, we got to the room, I was starting to wonder what the $1,000 prioce tag was all about.
1. The balcony door was broken, would not unlock, called reception from our mobile phones by actually ringing the hotel as the 9 extension number was not working. Was told a maitenance man would arrive in 30 mins, hours later, no one bothered to turn up.
2. Massive scrape and marks on the dining room wall
3. Squashed bugs on the wall in the master bedroom
4. very dustry vanitian blinds in all rooms, they looked like they were not cleaned for some weeks
5. No overn trays or even oven racks, had to complain to reception about this, was told some would be delivered, again, nothing ever arrived
6. The iron was broken, the dial to control the tempreture was missing, so all of the water was dripping out of it
Once I rasied these concerns, the fron t desk duty manager did offer a credit if 25% of our bill, but my mid was made up, I would not be coming back to this hotel again and we have planned further trips to Canberra.
When we checked out of the hotel, the indian receptionist really could'ne care less, she didnt even bother to ask "how was our stay" or "what could we do better next time", just took my key and said thanks!
The hotel overcharges for their product and my advice is stay away. This hotel is a clear examplle of price gauging.
Shame!
