Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Deco Hotel Canberra stands out for its exceptional service, with guests often lauding the staff's friendliness and efficiency. The hotel's commitment to cleanliness and a modern atmosphere with high-tech amenities receives consistent praise. While its location is slightly removed from the city center, it remains well-connected and convenient for exploration.
The rooms offer a tranquil retreat, though some have reported minor maintenance issues. Reviewers highlight the value for money and the noise level may be a consideration for light sleepers due to traffic and occasional pipe sounds.

We enjoyed our stay in a 2 bedroom apartment, it was fully equipped with a functioning kitchen, washer and dryer, modern technology to easily order room device, house keeping and switching lights on and off as well as your air conditioning unit.
The hotel still has some teething problems, I received an email a few days before my check in day with the wrong type in the email which made me second guess my booking, after a quick email it was confirmed that they sent the room information.
I found the reception staff not particularly inviting. Which is quite sad as they are your first interaction with the hotel.
Regardless of this, I would stay here again with my family.
The restaurant food was delicious!
Staff here were ok, not very attentive which was a big thumbs down as we were literally only people there.
We went down for some drinks, the espresso martini was delicious, and the whisky sour wasn't filled too the top which was disappointing.
Location is not far from the city centre and you can easily get the tram into the CBD if you don't have a car.
Parking is great and complimentary if you book directly wirh the hotel, and you can also gey buffet breakfast at $20pp and $10 for kids if you pre book.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was modern and very spacious, with well equipped kitchen and laundry and lovely and quiet. There were a few initial booking issues due to their online booking system (I am a member of CHG so booked a special online) but these were rectified upon emailing the hotel.
Our apartment had 2 queen beds instead of a queen or king in the master and twin beds in the second bedroom. We immediately rang reception to get it changed as I had booked and paid a supplement for a family of 5. They said they couldn’t do anything as that was how the booking is generated in their online booking system. After these issues, if we were to stay again, I would ring directly and book.
The technology in the apartment was great, except the touch pads in each room were very brightly backlit and we couldn’t work out how to dim or turn off, which affected sleep.
The staff were friendly and we enjoyed a delicious, good value dinner in the restaurant. The buffet breakfast was also good, offering a wide array of food. There were not enough staff on hand to top up empty dishes and attend to guests.
The car park was actually quite spacious and had plenty of free parking which is included in the rate. The location is a bit of a distance from Lonsdale street but very accessible to the light rail.
If the few teething problems were sorted out, especially the booking process, this could be a great hotel.

Wow what a hotel! From the minute you walk into your room, the blinds open automatically and you are met with all modern and well present finishes. All lights, aircon and blinds are controlled by touch panels on the walls. With the new light rail just at the doorstep, Canberra city Centre is just a short trip away.
Highly recommended hotel at a relatively competitive price! Already booked in again for November!

We stayed at Deco Hotel for an event in Canberra with our 7 month old. It was $10 per night for a travel cot - both the cot and bedding were of good quality. The one bedroom apartment was perfect. You could fit the cot in the bedroom but we placed it in the study alcove, so we could stay up a bit later and enjoy the TV in our bedroom. It was also super handy having a washer/dryer and the kitchen so we could feed bub and clean his clothes. The hotel room was new and the furnishings were lovely and clean. The automatic blinds were also great in blocking out the light and the heat. Staff were friendly and the car parking was convenient and safe. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying with an infant.

Stayed here 4 nights and were delighted with our choice, advanced booking gave us a great rate and free parking. Lovely spacious room and bathroom, quality furnishings, comfortable bed, large wardrobe with hanging and shelves, lounge, large tv that you could easily see from the bed, small table and chairs. Easy lift access to secure underground car park, onsite bar with reasonably priced deals especially from 4pm - 6pm, restaurant very nice. We didn’t partake of the buffet breakfast. Really loved the idea that if you didn’t have your room made up each day you received a $10 voucher for the bar/restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful, particularly the restaurant staff. Location in the centre wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed for 2 nights.
Convenient location!
Very friendly staff.
We stayed in room 408 and it seems that all plumbing is located around this room.
We heard water/toilets flushing/drain sounds most of time we were there.
Other than that was lovely!
Avoid room 408.

Stayed at the Deco for a long weekend escape with our 2 kids 7 and 9yoa. The room was HUGE! Amazing living space, 4 (four?!!!) TVs with the option of paying $25 for 24 hours of new movies, fantastic and reasonably priced room service, a massive enclosed courtyard (we were ground floor), very comfy beds, modern everything with tasteful but not overwhelming art to suit each room. The blackout curtains were fantastic, it was quiet and I happily slept in until near 10am despite being on one of the busiest roads (and I’m from the country so sensitive to road noise). 100% best hotel I have ever stayed in, and priced at mid range despite 5 star quality.

We stayed 2 nights at a 2 Bedroom Apartment Suite which consists of a Luxe King Room interconnected with a One Bedroom Apartment. The suite was very clean and modern, where lights and blinds were operated from electronic consoles which were placed near the beds and on the walls (where the light switches would normally be located). The aparyment had a nice balcony with great views of the nerby hills. We enjoyed our stay.
Our only complain is that the One Bedroom Apartment had a queen bed and not a king bed as advertised and that the fridge was quite small.

This is an excellent place to stay, the rooms are well appointed clean and the staff is professional and well organised.Modern technical enhancements such as iPad controls for lights, blinds and airconditioning is standard in all rooms.Parking is underground and is keycard secured. The optional breakfast is good value for money the only enhancement would be the inclusion of espresso coffee as a standard. All beds are King size, super comfortable and extra pillows are available in room.Trams travel along Northbourne Avenue frequently and it's only 2 stops from Civil ,the closest Tram stop is Ipima Street. Great shops and restaurants in Braddon close to the hotel.

This well appointed hotel was in a great central location to the city or outer Northern suburbs of Canberra. It was close to the tram line. We had a car and parking was always plentiful and easy to access for a small fee. The rooms are divine and perfect for a leisurely stay or a corporate business trip. The king size beds are very comfortable and the room facilities are noticeably superior, including an Nespresso machine, nice bathroom products and access to an open balcony. The price is excellent and definitely somewhere we would choose to stay again.
