Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was really amazed by this place at first. It was the cheapest in the neighbourhood but it's a new building with good staff and clean comfortable rooms (I had a cruddy view of the next ugly building but it was still a good room). Unfortunately the front entrance is entirely a driveway, no dedicated pedestrian access. I thought that was odd when I arrived in my car and then when I first left on foot, I was almost run over in the driveway by first a scooter and then a car. On returning at night, I was actually hit by a delivery electric motorbike on the footpath outside. It's not the hotel's footpath but it demonstrates what happens when they prioritise vehicular transport and marginalise humans and, sure enough, minutes after that incident I was almost hit again by a car in the hotel's entrance driveway. It's the most horrid hotel entrance I've seen outside of Asia and Canberra seems to be getting worse for pedestrians than even Haymarket.

This was our 3rd visit, and the hotel services were excellent. Really appreciated the fact that both the basin and shower had re-fillable bottles of the essentials, labelled in large font so easily visible for those with difficulty in seeing labels

We 'happened upon' this hotel as it was near our friend's home and the reason we were visiting Canberra. This was a stroke of luck as we were delighted with our stay and the kind upgrade to a one bedroom suite was an unexpected bonus. Apart from the cheerful service of the housekeeping team we enjoyed the Happy Hour (especially the prices!) and the restaurant meals were super tasty and generous. The accommodating staff won us over as well. The location to the CBD kept us within our daily 10,000 steps target and so additional wellness points on that score. We would definitely recommend Deco Hotel.....but don't expect to get lunch in their restaurant - it doesn't do lunch! ....go to the burger and kebab place around the corner :)

The desk staff were welcoming and helpful. We appreciated the location being close to city and other sites. We will stay again and would recommend this hotel for a comfortable, relaxed and trouble free stay. We also appreciated the upgrade to a suite which was fantastic!!

Deco is our preferred hotel, we make several trips to Canberra each year and they are always consistent in cleanliness, profressional and facilities. Would love some EV parking facilities, hoping that is something they are considering for the future.

I travel to Canberra on a regular basis for work and the Deco is the only hotel I stay in. I have tried other hotels around Canberra and the Deco is by far the best. I love the service I get form the staff, the location is easy to get to and from and the rooms are very comfortable and lovely. The only thing I would change is the mobile phone reception is not great but they have wifi which helps.

Always our preferred hotel in Canberra, clean and friendly with top quality throughout. Highly recommended for a Canberra stay. Check in is seamless, car park secure and rooms are always clean and comfortable, only problem is noise from Northbourne Avenue can be heard sometimes.

Have stayed there before. As before staff very friendly from reception to rest of staff. The rooms are excellent and very clean. Bed is very comfortable as well as pillows. The large TV, lounge, table and chairs all a plus. Rooms are serviced everyday. Carpark with secure parking is a huge plus. Hotels location is excellent, couple of minutes to city. Nothing to say except stay was excellent. Ease of access to hotel is very good. Recommend this hotel to all visiting Canberra. Will stay there again in the future.

Ordered in-room dining for dinner. Asked about the fish of the day, which was confirmed as John Dory, so I ordered. An hour later no food so I called reception and was advised it would be another 5 minutes. When the food arrived I quickly noticed the fish was not John Dory, but Barramundi. Another call to reception, and 20 minutes later my John Dory arrived but by that time it was getting quite late (around 9pm). All staff I spoke with were helpful, but I believe the property should be more transparent with guests (e.g. the kitchen's super busy, your order may take longer, etc) so as to meet and better manage their expectations. The matter of the mix up with the fish really just comes down to better communication between the kitchen and front line staff so there is 100% alignment.
