Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Stayed here with teenage and young kids as a family. The reception were polite, and were accommodating to a late check out of 11am. however, did not offer helpful information on breakfast dining protocols and if you want to book for breakfast at the better rate you have to pre book by a certain time during your stay. We missed out apparently by 15 minutes however it would have been nice if the reception actually offered the information on check in arrival, not when we called to book once we were settled in. When we first tried to use our room keys they did not work, so staff requesed us to return to the main reception to get re placement keys. Walked back to reception in the heat. Walked back room keys worked. The rooms, were filfy. First we found a dead spider on our main bed pillow, which looked like it was there for a while. Then noticed the windows had children's finger smear marks thick all over the window in the dining area. I was willing to let it pass. We wanted to go for a swim, travelling all day around 5 hrs and it was around 39 degrees, looking forward to cooling off. Then we went for a swim. The pool and dining facilities appear aesthetically pleasing. The tiles in the pool had many sharp edges and not only myself but the teenage children commented that they'd hurt themselves on sharp edges on tiles in the pool. The pools spa area functions were out of order. But there were heated and cooler option areas for swimming, which was good for the younger children so they don't get Cold too quickly. We returned back to the cabin for dinner, the glasses and cuttlery were stuck to the cabinets. Frustration was beginning to set in and by around this time reception was closed from what we were told on check in. The night went on and we found, toothpaste spit splatter on the floor in the bathroom, dried, shower curtain thick with pink and black scum and mould about 30cm of the base of the curtain. Putting the kids to bed, I pulled back the blankets to find huge white stain on the under side of the doona, it was so grotty I was shocked. Large white, and several dark stain spots on the carpet in the kids bedroom. And to top it off our bed in the main bedroom was, without a joke, metal springs with a sheet of fabric over it. I have been to the pits of overseas countries where I thought I had a bad room or bad beds. This did not even come on par with those rooms, it was far worse. I did not rest and was so tired the next day from no sleep. The mattress was not firm, it was springs and fabric. I couldn't beleive it. I can't foresee any guest who've stayed in 306 returning. We had breakfast next morning. The food was good. A bit pricey, but was OK. If you want hot food you should turn up a little earlier, we got there 9am. But apart from the leisure and dining facilities being aesthetically pleasing I wouldn't recommend to actually sleep, shower or stay here. SADLY disappointed with the room and we really wanted to like this place but it just kept dealing us filth, fatigue, and pain on only such a short stay!

We had a fantastic family Christmas at Alivio. A great spot for extended family to have their own cabins but also share the great facilities available at Alivio together. Close proximity to the heart of Canberra and wonderful coffee/beverages/food on site which is great when you’re feeling lazy. Staff happy and friendly and a good vibe amongst other guests on site. Will definitely be back.

Stayed for 4 nights, first 2 nights were in a small very rundown cabin which was filthy, bugs all over the pillows, cockroach smushed on the door frame which looked like it had been there for quite some time. Had to ask reception for basic stuff, dishwashing liquid, plug for the bath to bathe our kids. Second night we had no hot water for 4 hours, couldn’t give our kids a bath or have showers. Toilet wouldn’t flush the following morning. Spoke to reception who were very helpful and offered another room which was a lot bigger and modern. Had to pay the difference for 1 night and alivio covered the rest. The new room was very nice, but was also not very clean. Dirty marks all over the walls, toilet not clean, kitchen bench not wiped. The kitchen only had a bathroom sized bin. Had to keep a plastic bag on the bench for our rubbish and take to the big bin outside. The splash park was great and BBQ was lovely. Had a meal at the Verandah which was very pricey, but food was very average. Overall I would not stay here again nor recommend to others.

Fairly cool indifferent welcome. Receptionist busy with check ins, phone ringing , unanswered . Other staff nearby , not helping reduce queue or answer phone. Cabin adequate . AC, poor. Never really got the temp down. Bed comfortable and linen good . Breakfast $30. Very average , cheap sausages no scrambled egg and had to ask for mushrooms accessing the food under some glass protection wasn’t easy. Servers looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but there . Asked for x2 cappuccinos . Really charging extra for a cappuccino on 2 $30 brekkies. Come on.

I have travelled all over Australia and This would have to be the worst caravan park in Australia. What a disgraceful caravan experience and very expensive stay in Canberra. Not a blade of grass in the entire park. The caravan sites are on a terraced down slope with gravel in between concreted sites. There is only one toilet block for many sites and it’s 400 metres down a steep hill. The showers are mouldy, with white mould on the darker tiles and black mould on the bottom of the shower tiles …ewwwww. The staff, hmmmmm , unfriendly on the phone and unfriendly in person. They don’t even give you a greeting sheet outlining what is available in the park, such as menu’s, facilities etc: They give you some cardboard key thingies and don’t even let you know what they are for. The fees are despicable and there is no favours done for staying longer, such as even one night cheaper. AND in Canberra , the pool, which is miles away from anyone staying, is NOT HEATED…premium prices for cheap out of date facilities. My worst experience ever in a caravan park. Even the internet connection is crap

Just a terrible experience. Expensive, unrenovated cabins with ancient, noisy a/c and ceiling fans that run in reverse. Awful food in the restaurant. We stood in line for 20 mins to checkin, 2 hrs after we had been told our cabin would be ready, and it wasn't. One poor staff member on! Phones ringing constantly were not answered. Loud doof-doof music everywhere, even outdoors. Just don't.

This is a lovely park, in a bush land setting. We booked the disability access unit. At first glance we thought it was great. Parking right outside with room beside the car and a ramp to the unit. Spacious unit with plenty of room to move. We used the second bedroom, as the first had hardly any room around the bed for mobility aids. The bathroom is huge, and has shelving to put things on, which I find lacking in many disability rooms. However, although the shower recess is very large, there is nothing to sit on, and no shower stools available. I had to give my husband a sponge bath sitting on one of the outdoor chairs brought inside. There isn’t even a rail to hold onto, nor one to assist getting off the toilet. Everything else about the unit was fine - good linen, big bath towels, well appointed kitchen etc. The staff were polite and helpful, and the on-site restaurant had good food. So with a few modifications, the room would not only have disabled access, but be totally disability friendly.

Powered site - very expensive at $70+/night, annoying fine gravel that easily came into van, site could have been level but was not, long way from shops etc., but very good ablution facilities. A very bureaucratic Canberra facility - geometrically set out but with little character!!

Planned a large family reunion for over 60 (mainly senior) family members coming from all over Australia and had to cancel due to Covid. Alvio staff completely inflexible and refused to return deposits, some actually had paid in full for family cabin stays . Very limited opportunity to use the credit offered, and most recently refusing to honour over a thousand dollars credit for drive though spaces for 3 vehicles & caravans on the basis that the credit had expired. Accused us by email of a previous “no show” - when our actual cancellation notification to them (the 2nd formal notification after informing them days earlier by phone) was actually in the same email trail!!!! Disgraceful customer service.

We stayed in a Blue Gum Villa and it was superb. Spotlessly clean and great facilities including a massive modern bathroom, two large bedrooms with spacious built in wardrobes, very efficient air conditioning and super comfy lounge. The wifi was super fast and reliable and the large hot water system meant we always had nice hot showers. There was ample extra large fluffy towels and plenty of pillows on the beds and extra blankets. Great Nespresso machine but also plenty of tea and coffee provided and you just need to get some milk. Would definitely stay in this villa again and cannot fault it
