Could not recommend highly enough
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was large, clean and comfortable with a full kitchen, laundry and large bathroom with a bath for the baby.
There’s free onsite parking and a pool and bikes are available onsite to hire with baby seats or buggies available to take the whole family to explore the nearby lake.
The staff are fantastic and went out of their way to accomodate us. I highly recommend this hotel for short or longer stays in Canberra.
The apartment was exceptionally clean, staff were very hospitable, free parking, and close to a main shopping area. Various cuisines in the local area. The single apartment had a spa, fully functional kitchen, washing machine and dryer and lift to the second floor. If mobility issues ensure ground floor apartments or second floor right hand side out of the lift because the left hand side does have some steps to some of the apartments. For the less mobile the single apartment shower over the spa was difficult to use with no handrail.
Travelling with three small kids is always a challenge, this hotel had everything we needed. The service was fabulous! Thank you!
The rooms were functional, good sized kitchen, with most things necessary if you wanted to prepare meals. The bedrooms were a decent size and the beds very comfortable. Whilst the sleep was a serene one, there are native birds that wake up early which can disrupt things, as did church bells (definitely not an inner west Sydney hardship) and I will say that the walls are a little on the thin side, so you could hear louder conversations and someone flushing a toilet from time to time. Definitely not game changers, but something you notice.
Whilst we had no issues parking, we were conscious of what time of day the carpark would likely fill up and so when we went for dinner in nearby Barton, we walked the 15 minutes to The Chairman & Yip and when we got back it's clear we might have struggled for a spot. By the way, TC&Y is close to our favourite restaurant and if you do like modern Chinese food, then this is a must do. It is exquisite.
For us, it was a good introduction to Kingston and if we wanted to stay around there, it would be an obvious choice.
Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and gloriously quiet. But no bath! Despite being almost booked out, I was offered a one bedder with bath on Giles St, but much preferred the private, sunny balcony of my original one so went with that. A big tick for me, to be able to sit outside, or inside with opening windows.
The building is older, but to my mind preferable to the small rooms and stark styling of modern properties. I loved the courtyard garden, which would be unthinkable in a modern property where every square inch would have been built on. Yes it’s a bit dated ( door locks could do with modernising), but the upsides are space, and a less sterile ambience. The furniture and appliances were all updated. A full laundry and undercover, secure parking, indoor and outdoor swimming pool ( small, not for lap swimmers). BBQ area near the pool.
The area is super convenient, with Kingston and Manuka shops easily walkable and the lake about a ten minute walk through the beautiful autumn leaves of Telopea Park.
Only hitch was lack of wifi for the entire stay. When I reported the problem to reception, the charge was immediately removed from my account. It was pretty annoying though to have to rely on tethering devices etc. In this day and age, reliable internet at a property like this is a given, like power and water. I was assured the problem was being fixed - it needs to be, fast. Service was lovely and efficient.
I would definitely stay again, over East and Knightsbridge (where we we normally stay) but the internet issue would need to be permanently resolved.
Very large rooms.
Staff were outstanding. the only thing I would suggest is if you have small children make sure your room is close to the lift.
"Our entrance was off the courtyard and our balcony faced a road but both were quiet and felt private"Read full review
