We stayed in a family room and the matress on the wall mounted bunk bed was extremely hard.
Apart from these issues the room was very good value and suited our needs for a short stay.
ibis Budget Canberra is an Accor Hotels budget hotel located in the Watson area, approximately 7km from Canberra city centre.
On the day of my stay, I left Cairns in the afternoon and arrived in Canberra via Melbourne, so I was able to check in at the hotel around 8:15pm. I made the reservation and payment for the room in advance through a certain hotel reservation site, so I was able to check in smoothly by simply filling out the guest list and presenting my ID and credit card. Since I rented a car at Canberra Airport, I was happy to be able to use the parking lot on the hotel grounds for free during my stay.
The room types we used this time are 2 Single Beds and 1 Single bed. The beds were two-tiered, with a single bed on the top and two single beds on the bottom. Although the guest room is not very large at 12m2, it didn't feel cramped at all even when there were 3 people in it. A TV and a small refrigerator are installed around the desk at the back of the room. Additionally, the washbasin in the guest room is located outside the toilet/shower room, making it convenient for multiple people staying.
Free coffee and tea are provided in the rooms. The only toiletries provided are shampoo, body wash, and hand wash in the shower booth and sink; toothbrushes and razors are not provided.
Wi-Fi is available for free in the building, but depending on the time of day, the communication speed may drop or the connection may be disconnected.
A toasty or continental breakfast is served from 7:30am to 10am in the dining area next to the front desk. Reservations for breakfast are not required and payment will be made at the front desk upon arrival. The continental breakfast buffet costs $10 per person and includes bread/cereal, ham, yogurt, fruit cocktail, milk/juice, but hot drinks such as coffee and tea are available for an additional fee.
There is a convenience store with a gas station next to the hotel, but there are few cafes or restaurants in the area, so we recommend that you eat and shop within the city. Also, transportation from the Watson area where the hotel is located to the city is inconvenient, so if you plan to mainly use public transportation for sightseeing, it may be a good idea to stay at a hotel in the city center.
For budget accommodation you get the room serviced every day, how good is that. Nothing better after a long day out than a fresh looking room to return to.
$10 continental Becky is great with addition of pancakes, cheese and ham toasties and very good barista coffee.
Staff are pleasant and helpful both front and back of house.
Pleased to stay here anytime I am in the ACT. Bus to city just around the corner.
I understand that it's a budget hotel and my partner wanted to stay closer to the convention he was going to; but there is total negligence, lack of duty of care, poor customer service, unclean, the list is endless.
The next day we asked for our refund because we were not going to stay one more night there, unfortunately it was prepaid and we had to get refunded; one of the remaining 4 days was refunded, the General Manager said that he organised 2 of them and to contact another booking agency for one of the days but we never got any refund, I did contact Expedia which he said has organised the refund for us but Expedia had no knowledge of such bookings, also the third agency, Webbed, had no record of the booking. I went through traumatic days also trying to contact all those agencies. I tried to call the hotel to explain my situation but never got an answer.
I am still unwell with the big bruise on my head and a sore eye after almost a month now. IT'S A HEALTH HAZARD! Keep away from them.
They are lucky I give them 1, this hotel deserves nothing.
"End of the hallway rooms would be best so there is less foot traffic past your room"Read full review
