We dived in here for our last day at work lunch before Christmas. 10 of us pilled in without notice, even though they had Christmas lunch bookings they couldn't have been more accommodating, the food was fresh and served in good time. Beer is amazing here kept very well and a good range for all tastes. Thank you guys will...

We stopped at the Lord Nelson with our one-year-old daughter on our long drive heading north for Christmas. We pulled off the motorway when she woke up and were lucky enough to stumble across this fantastic pub. There was a lovely atmosphere despite it being four o'clock on a Thursday afternoon, the beer was well kept, the staff were friendly,...

I have lunch here regularly twice a week, and can honestly say it is the Best Place in this area! The food is superb. Can really recommend the Fish dishes from the Specials' board! But you have to act fast- tbey change weekly, but are truly scrumptious! Had Bream today, with mussels,a trasty mash and sauce. Nearly asked for bread...

We love your review - thanks so much for all your great comments! Our Specials Board is really popular and, although we're taking a short break from Specials over the Christmas period, we aim to provide some really interesting dishes using locally sourced ingredients, many from within a 1 mile radius of the pub! Your review really makes a difference...

We arranged accommodation including full breakfast for some of our visiting employees and their families. Very happy with the room standard overall, food and the friendly helpful staff in the restaurant.

The team at The Nelson were great - hosting my father's 90th birthday party. Everyone commented on both the quality and quantity of the food. The staff were superb at both help with pre-planning for the event and the lovely family breakfast we enjoyed the next day.

Have eaten here quite a few times since Easter, stopping off on our journeys northwards and back again. Never been let down, friendly and helpful staff, fantastic food and reasonably priced. Sunday lunch is recommended!

Lovely Room. Terrific food especially the steaks and puddings to die for! Little let down that our room had not been tidied during our stay. Also there were a lot of flies in the restaurant which was quite irritating. Non the less our stay was enjoyable and the staff very hospitable - look forward to seeing you again next year
