The Squire Resort at the Grand Canyon, BW Signature Collection, garners praise for its inviting ambiance and convenient location near the Grand Canyon, despite the premium price this proximity commands. While the service is typically friendly, some guests have encountered disorganization. The hotel's amenities, including pools and dining options, are well-regarded, though Wi-Fi connectivity receives some criticism.
Cleanliness is a strong suit, especially appreciated after a day of exploring. However, opinions on value and room quality are mixed, with some concerns about outdated decor and noise.

Hotel's Favourite
We went to Grand Canyon recently, on a vacation trip we had planned for about a year. As it turned out, they had a water main break on the South Rim, and all of the hotels & lodges up there were closed down. We had a 2 night reservation at El Tovar, and were now scrambling last minute to save our vacation. As it turned out, they got the water back on for the second night at El Tovar, but for the first night we needed an alternative.
I was surprised to learn that Tusayan was as close as it is to the GC Village, and there are several options in that little town. I picked the Squire Resort more because it had availability than anything else. And I'll be honest, I was leery of the Best Western brand, because it operates in the budget hotel space. But I had a big problem, and little time to save our vacation.
Clearly, the Signature Collection of BW is a different animal. The hotel is great. It started from the minute you walk into a nice, big lobby, and you see a free Starbucks coffee machine. As it turned out, this was the only hotel of the 6 that we stayed at, which offered free coffee in the lobby. Nice touch. The room was very nice, we slept great, and they have an awesome arcade room that kids would love. We left as big fans, and I would recommend considering this as a option for any trip to the South Rim. And, oh, by the way....what we paid for one night at Squire was about half of what we paid for one night at El Tovar. And we honestly thought Squire was a bit nicer.

We stayed at the Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn while on our two day stay to visit The Grand Canyon. This hotel is located in the small town of Tusayan, just outside the park. Tusayan offers a number of hotels, an RV park, general store, and food establishments from fast food to steak houses.
The hotels in Tusayan are much easier to book than the hotels located inside the park on the South Rim of the canyon, and offer quick ten minute access to the park entrance, as well as the shuttle system provided by the park during the main tourist season.
This Best Western is conveniently located at the last stop of the park shuttle system (purple line) for easy access to and from the park without having to drive and park a vehicle inside the park, although park access still requires the entrance fee. This hotel is also located five minutes from the Grand Canyon National Park Airport that provides the airplane and helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon.
This is a full service resort with two pools, 4 onsite restaurants, fitness center, game room and bowling alley, pub, and gift shop that has clothing and other items one may have forgot to bring.
The rooms are spacious and well sound proofed and provided with plenty of outlets for charging devices. We didn’t know we were next to one of the pools until we opened the curtains. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The service to the room was excellent.
We were on a tour with a group, and were provided breakfast each day. The all you can eat breakfast was hands down the best I have encountered in years of traveling around the world. Anything you might expect in beverages, fruit, cereal, as well as real bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and other breakfast fare. A chef prepared omelets to order. There were other items that become too numerous to remember. The tables were bused as soon as a plate was finished, ready to go back for more.
This hotel was a delight to stay at, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the Grand Canyon.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
No family suites available and even the "oversized" rooms are small. Beds were comfortable though. Bathtub was dirty. Breakfast buffet was $60 for family of four and was nothing special. Lunch buffet looked terrible so we skipped it. Bar food was good, and dinner restaurant was fantastic but very spendy. Bowling alley was old with cracked floor and chipped balls for about $10 for game and shoes. Arcade was minimal and all claw games were in need of filling. Air hockey was fun but $1.50 per game. Billiards was $1.00 per game. Indoor pool is in seperate building so you have to walk outside to get there. Our room was so hot we had to keep the windows open all night even when it was snowing! Maintence "fixed" this by turning off the hot water in our heater. Our stay was fine but more expensive than most other comparable hotels and vacations. Absolutely nothing to do in the area other than Grand Canyon.

Thank you for completing the survey regarding your recent stay at our property. It's frustrating to spend more on a product or service than you feel it is worth. When you made your reservation, you had certain expectations based on your rate and your travel experience, and we failed to meet or exceed those expectations. We apologize for letting you down.

There is no doubt this is a BW Premier location. First the down side. The on-site amenities are plentiful; however, there are a few things to note. Parking in a convenient location can be an issue. Their toilets use reclaimed water. (people who are on or recently finished chemo therapy may find difficulty with this) To access the indoor pool and fitness room, you must walk a fair distance outside. (only an issue in cold months). Check that all restaurants are open.
Now the up side. It is in a very convenient location. We had a King Suite which suited our needs very well. The fridge, MW and TVs functioned well. There are usually 3 restaurants; however, the one we were planning to eat at was closed for renovations. There are 2 pools, fitness room, business center, arcade and a 6 lane bowling alley. Remember to check room prices if you want to have breakfast included in your stay. It is not a free breakfast, rather approximately $14 pp. if you decide to pay at the door.

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review. It sounds like there are some things you learned about us along the way that would have been more convenient to have knows before you arrived. By taking the time to share your discoveries, other guests will benefit from your information. During the off-season, it's lovely to enjoy the area without the crowds of summer. We take advantage of this time to make improvements as you have noted while keeping most of our products and services available to our guests. We hope you will come back to see us again!

I always book with Best Western on vacations, since it’s always clean and dependable for the price. This location made me reconsider that, as this location is a tourist trap with many broken amenities and is comparatively expensive. There is no free breakfast as with other Best Western locations, and all of the restaurants onsite (especially the pub) serve gas station-quality food at high prices. A terrible value that has made me reconsider BW in the future.

We enjoyed the location, room, ambiance, gym and the staff. I believe this hotel has about 300 rooms. A lot to maintain. We stayed in the main building with quick access to the restaurant and the coffee in the lobby. The bulk of the rooms are located in separate buildings.
We were upgraded to a larger room. It was clean. However, they indicated that there will be no room service during our three day stay because of the virus. I personally feel that at this stage it is just a ploy to save money. Our heating system did not work well on a cold day. However, we were able to use the bathroom heater to supplement the overall heat in the room. The area around the bathroom tub should have bars to hang onto when exiting the tub. It is slippery.
Breakfast was good. However, I did complain about only one piece of toast being provided with two eggs. I have never encountered that cheapness anywhere else. They stated that they would look into the matter.
The gym and the pool are well maintained.
Even with these minor issues, we enjoyed our stay because of the Grand Canyon. And the staff including Gloria, Veronica, Amber, and others did a great job of making us comfortable!
We paid about $250 a night due to the tight supply of rooms in the Grand Canyon area.

Thank you for staying with us and sharing the details about your experience. We understand these are different times you are traveling in, and you are ready for us to return to a more interactive level of service with regard to the stayover services we provide from our Housekeeping Department. We are eager as well, and we are as hopeful as you that we will get through the remainder of the pandemic in a way that brings us back to what you are used to. We appreciate you letting us know about the service oversights that were within our grasp and control, however, such as how we present our breakfast options and the functionality of our heating and cooling systems. Further we greatly value your kind words about our staff. People really do make the difference, and we will be sure to celebrate the hospitality shown by Gloria, Veronica, Amber, and the other members of our team who made you feel at home. We hope you will come back to see us again soon, and we wish you safe and happy travels until we meet again.

The stay was perfect for a 3 night visit to the Grand Canyon. Only the south rim is open at this time. The room was clean and had everything we needed including a keurig coffee maker. We used the indoor hot tub, ate at the restaurant for breakfast (ask for the house made salsa-spicy and delicious) and had a drink in the pub. It was very quiet due to COVID and the off season. Only one other family in the restaurant for breakfast and only us in the pub. Service was friendly and quick. Margarita was tasty and fairly priced. The bowling area and arcade were closed which was understandable due to the pandemic. Everyone was wearing masks and being safe. Housekeeping did not come in the room, if we needed amenities or clean towels we needed only ask.

Our stay at the Best Western was great right from check in! Bee at the front desk was so helpful, friendly, and personable! Our friend with us had suffered a knee injury the day before & they went & got her a large bag of ice & brought it to the room for us. The room and bathroom was clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, contributing to a great night sleep! Breakfast in the Canyon Room each morning was delicious, convenient, & reasonably priced. The location is 15 mins from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center inside the National Park making it very convenient to get to without having to pay the upcharged prices of staying inside the park. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to vacation the the Grand Canyon!!

• This is a standard Best Western, nice but the usual. There is nothing Premier about it except the price.
• Careful. They charge the entire amount to your credit or debit card the minute you make the reservation, even if it is months in advance. In the entire Best Western chain, only this hotel and one in Las Vegas do this, so you may not expect it. They did not tell me they would do this when I made the reservation. If you need to cancel be careful to do it before the deadline of it will cost you.
• Breakfast is not included. You will have to pay over $13 per person, plus tip, at their restaurant for that.
• They failed to give me the goodies bag that comes with high level Best Western membership. When I went to the desk again to mention a clogged toilet, from a previous guest, threatening to overflow into our room, they remembered. The bag included a free breakfast for me, but not my wife.
• The presence of a plunger next to the toilet is unusual, but apparently needed. However, the maintenance man who came to fix the problem stated it was inadequate for the job and had to get a heavy-duty model.

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review. Your feedback is so helpful as it provides valuable information guests seek when are researching about our location and our property. We are conveniently located to the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim entrance, and we have been happily greeting visitors for decades. Most of our rooms reflect the rustic charm of our history while a new 7000 building serves as the modern addition and allows guests a chance to experience a more contemporary feel. Nestled in the juniper and ponderosa pines of the Kaibab National Forest, our property boasts things you're not likely to find in a hotel, such as a Bowling Alley and Arcade. We strive to provide our guests with an experience they can reflect fondly on, and we apologize we were not able to exceed your expectations. We appreciate you letting us know where we need to focus our attention, and how important it is that we pay attention to every detail. We hope you will give us another chance to provide you with the experience you seek, and we wish you safe travels until then.

We only spent one night at this hotel so we didn’t get to experience much of the amenities. Upon check in I was disappointed to find out that we had to be downgraded from our reserved jetted tub suite to a junior suite due to a maintenance issue (we asked, it was the AC). While I appreciated not being placed in a room with a maintenance issue, I booked at this hotel specifically because of the jetted tub and the location. The staff was very apologetic and friendly when they informed me, and they gave me breakfast vouchers as well as initiated the process for a partial refund (needed manager approval). The outdoor pool and spa weren’t open because they are seasonal (although it was the last weekend in June, I suspect it may have been due to the thunderstorm that day) and the indoor pool and spa were very crowded. We were told the pool is open 24 hours but didn’t try to see if it was true. The location was excellent, minutes away from the Grand Canyon and walking distance to the shuttles that can take you there if you don’t have a car. I would say the breakfast was average and I’m glad I didn’t end up paying for it. I’ve definitely had better food; the breakfast buffet didn’t look that appetizing and we ended up ordering from the menu. Overall I think it would have been a good experience if I hadn’t been so disappointed so I tried not to have that affect my rating too much. I think I could have enjoyed my time there if we spent at least two nights but since it was just a stop on a longer road trip I didn’t have the opportunity. One more side note about our room, it states in the description for the junior suite that it has a sofa bed but we couldn’t figure out how to pull it out (it didn’t seem to actually be a sofa bed); we didn’t need it so we didn’t ask for help with it but I’m sure that would be important for families that need the extra bed.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. We appreciate your thoughtful and generous feedback! Your comments are so helpful as others are planning their special trip to the canyon, and gives us a better understanding of where we need to focus our attention. I am sorry to hear about the mix up with your reservation and relieved to hear you were able to make the most of your trip - our location is so convenient and the shuttles so helpful. Indeed, monsoons will close the pool down - even if there is no weather in the area, we will close the pool when we receive an alert that one is on its way. We hope you will come back to the Grand Canyon to spend more time, certainly coming back to stay with us again!

Sorry - we didn’t bowl or even know that had a bowling alley so can’t answer the question.
I don't know. We were only there overnight to see the canyon, and did not look for the pool. I would call them.
Best to check it out through tripadvisor's travel app or other online services, or call the hotel directly. As with any hotel, rates probably vary depending on exactly when you want to go.
Couldn't find an email either but here's their phone: 928-638-2681. You can probably call and get an email address, employment info, etc. Good luck!
