Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend here as an early anniversary surprise. The cabins are extremely clean and have everything you need for a comfortable stay - including wood for the fire, bird seed for the feeders on the deck and even salt to take on walks for any leeches.
There's 400 acres to explore with multiple well signposted walks and it feels like you have the whole property to yourself. The birdlife is fantastic. Our dog thought he was in heaven and didn't want to leave (neither did I).
It was just what we needed and we will definitely be back. Thank you to the owners and Dodge for the great welcome and sharing your piece of paradise.

When we arrived we notice that it was so quiet, we were in need of so downtime. The owners (Wendy) came to say hello and to see if we needed anything and then we were on our own, Dodge the dog was very friendly. This is a place where you can take your dog with you and can sleep in the cabin not outside, so if in need to get away from the hustle then this is a place for you.

We spent 4 wonderful days at Bellthorpe Cottages, soaking in the beautiful surrounds and close encounters with multiple birds. It is an oasis of peace and beauty created by Wendy and David.
The cottage was cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The well equipped cottage allowed us to stay most of the time on the large, lush property, teeming with wildlife. We sat on the deck a lot of the time and were entertained by the beautiful birds that visited for a feed and chatter. David and Wendy dropped by to check we had everything and to answer questions about the different wildlife and trees we had seen. They are excellent hosts and so knowledgeable. It was great to learn more about how they transformed the de-nuded grasslands, stripped of all trees, into a safe haven for wildlife, a few species unique and some nearly extinct. An unforgettable experience was frog spotting with David who identified the different species through their croaks. All those eyes glittering at you when walking at night, it was lovely. The land was stripped when they purchased the property more than 20 years ago. They’ve planted thousands of trees, it really is a laudable achievement. We highly recommend the cottages and thank Wendy and David for a wonderful time.

Glorious scenery, amazing wildlife and great accommodation. Get away from the bustle and get in touch with the important things in life. Wet forest paradise with waterfalls, ancient trees and rare and beautiful wildlife. Phone and internet reception are available for those who must stay connected but why would you want to. Immerse yourself in this parcel of paradise.

We've stayed here 8 times, 2013-2020. Fantastic location with very friendly and helpful owners. The wildlife and scenery on the property are excellent. Provided you're prepared to exercise a bit pof patience, you will see a variety of birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. It's only a 25-30 minute trip to Maleny, which has plenty of options for dining and shopping.

Dodge the wonder dog is the icing on the cake!

I had a wonderful, relaxing stay here for 3 nights. Limited internet connection, sleeps ins and long walks exploring the trails. Happy hour on the deck, feeding the birds. Nights by the fireplace with a DVD or a book.A friendly visit from the owner on arrival and departure, plus daily visits from their friendly dog.

This is just what we needed. After a particularly stressful month, we booked in to Bellthorpe Stays. We needed peace and quite...a good nature"tree walk" and a fireplace to curl up in front of. We got all of that and more. Very comfy accommodation and the added bonus of not having to leave the property to have a gentle long walk. We went to the waterfalls and had a nice picnic lunch there back to the cottage for a nap, red wine, a dvd and say hello to the cows and Charlie the horse. Thanks Wendy for a great stay. You have a wonderful little pocket of the world. ( and such a pretty drive to get there theough Beerwah!). Cheers

We stayed at the Cottage for 3 nights midweek in summer, though it was still cold enough at night for the fireplace to be enjoyed. Dodge the resident dog is very welcoming as are the owners Wendy & David. Dodge always turns up wherever you venture. This is a magic place rejuvenated from a cleared dairy back to a natural wonder of peaceful forest, views, fauna & flora. Excellent well kept walk tracks, The cottage is clean & well appointed - nothing lacking. The history of the place is very enlightening. What a labor of love Wendy & Dave have to be proud of.

This place is the most beautiful getaway in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Nestled on the hills of Bellthorpe Nathional Park, there is always something magical to see right at your door step. Colourful birds, cuddly dog Dodge and the gorgeous and friendly Wendy will make you feel right at home. We will be back here soon!

Answer from Wendy C
Maleny, Australia
There are 4 cabins spread out along the ridge with wide spaces and vegetation between them. The hosts live down the hill from the private cabins so are there only if you need assistance or help to make the best of your stay.
