We stayed in Chalet 6 with my 18 month old son for 2 nights. The communication and service was excellent both before and during the stay. It's a lovely property with beautiful roses and lots of activities for kids (playground, trampolines, tennis/basketball court). It's a nice quick drive from Perth which is a bonus.

The view from the chalets is fantastic and sitting with a cup of tea/drink makes for a perfect, serene end to the day.

My son enjoyed feeding the animals (goats, emu, kangaroo, pig, chickens, rabbits, ducks) and the tractor ride to feed the cows up close and personal! That was a lot of fun for adults too!

Honeymoon pool and Wellington dam are only a short drive (30min) away, which makes for a nice outing.

There are cafes/wineries close by open for lunch but bring your own food for dinner.

Good water pressure and hot water too :D

We managed to get a cancellation during school holidays. None of us had been to the area or done a farm stay before. What a beautiful location and a fantastic experience for us all. We are happy to recommend this place to anyone. Fun activities and the accommodation is very good.

We stayed at Ferguson Farmstay in January 2012, in Chalet 2 which has a great view over the dam and hills to Bunbury and the Indian Ocean. On Australia Day we were able to watch the fireworks in Bunbury while listening to the show simulcast on the radio which was wonderful.

We had 4 adults and 3 children under 5 comfortably staying with plenty of room for more children. Two rooms had double beds and the third room had 2 bunks plus 1 roll away bed. The facilities were excellent including supply of a barbecue and outdoor setting, drinking water is good and showers hot and nice after a dusty day on the farm. The main living area and 2 double bed bedrooms have air conditioning which was a relief with 40+ celcius days.

The farm activities were excellent - every morning the children were able to help with feeding the animals - calves, emus, pig, chickens, kangaroo and rabbits with scraps from their own chalet and each morning the children were given a pony ride around the beautiful gardens. One morning children and parents enjoyed a tractor ride around the property. The farm also has a trampoline, tennis court, swing set and dam for swimming and canoeing (life jackets available from office) plus other animals. The office has DVDs and board games to borrow.

Ferguson Farmstay was an ideal location to explore the area and we visited Harvey (Ha-Ve Cheese a must), gnomesville, local wineries and breweries, Dardanup glass and pottery studio and enjoyed drives around the rolling hills. From Ferguson, Eaton is a 15 minute drive and Bunbury and it's beaches 20 minutes if needed.

We never tired of the view and enjoyed watching the children run and run. They would dress as fairies, play chasey, fly their kites, play ball games and watch the cows come and go from the adjoining paddock. It was such a beautiful stay. I highly recommend Ferguson Farmstay to local and international travellers.

The owners are warm and welcoming and treat all people including the little ones with respect and genuine warmth

One great aspect of Ferguson Farmstay is all the activites are included in the price of the accommodation - while researching farmstays I noticed more and more are charging one price for accommodation and additional costs for feeding animals, pony rides, tractor rides etc so therefore Ferguson Farmstay is a fantastic, value for money experience.

I am absolutely disgusted with the customer service whilst staying here.
I filled out the online booking twice and received no contact, when I finally was able to contact them I made the booking and paid the 50% deposit. When paying when checking out they tried to charge the full amount even though they had paperwork proving my deposit.
We were given no key to our chalet so were unable to lock it all weekend which was extremely worrying as we had valuables and young children.
For the $5 per night linen they only provide one towel each for the adults when our booking also had two additional babies - oh and $5 per night for linen includes only one small towel which is not refreshed at all.

I recently took the kids to Fergusons for what was ment to be a relaxing break away. Unfortunately, the weather gods did not take kindly to our planned get away and it was raining heavily upon our arrival. To make matters worse, our accomodation was without power from our arrival at 2pm, excluding a short window of 20 minutes, until the time we left the following day. when we got to our accomodation, there was no wood to light the fire, (It was cold and the kids were wet). When we finally did get the wood it was wet and almost impossible to light. Without power and a warm fire, I could not dry the kids clothes or supply them with a warm meal. At around 6pm, we were supplied with 2 candles to see us through the night, but nothing to put them in.
After a cold, dark and sleepless night, I decided it would be best for the kids and I to find an alternative accomodation, as I also had my daughters medication with me and it needed to be kept refrigerated.
When we checked out, I felt sure John and rosa would deduct some of the nights accomodation, owing to our lack of power and the fact that the kids were unable to spend time with the animals or partake in any of the other farm activities. The only thing they could do, was bounce on the trampoline, which they were told off for bouncing on together, and then asked to clear the debree off. This unforgettable night cost me $250, and even upon ringing them to voice my dissatisfaction, I did not receive any follow up or apology.
It is for this reason, I would NOT recommend staying at Fergusons.

Response from Charmaine T, Employee at Ferguson Farmstay at Ferguson Farmstay
Responded 14 Mar 2013
Thank you for taking the time to review Ferguson Farmstay, we really do appreciate all feedback (whether it be positive or negative) as it helps us improve our business for future guests. We wanted to respond specifically to your negative review as we remember not only that particular December weekend, but also your particular experience. That weekend in Summer was a 1 in 100 year rainfall event that ended up flooding the nearby town of Collie and caused power outages across the region. Unfortunately there wasn’t much we could do about the power outages or the unseasonal rain, except try and help out our guests as much as possible. As such, one of our staff supplied you with free firewood, which we’re sorry to say may well have been wet as we don't keep a ready stock of firewood in December due to the usually hot summer weather. We also recall setting up a generator and lights for you, and giving you some free milk. These are small details I know, and wouldn’t have done much to alleviate your discomfort, I'm just sorry there wasn't much more we could do given the violent weather and power outages. With regards to bouncing on the trampoline – there is a sign right next to the trampoline saying ‘only one person at a time’ and this is to avoid any injuries from two heads or a head and an elbow colliding – we would have asked your kids to take turns because we didn’t want them to hurt themselves. As you decided to find alternative accommodation the next day, we then looked to our cancellation policy, which is clearly stated on our website. I have picked out the part relevant to your stay here: “If you decide to leave the farm a day or more before the end of the booking, you must pay the full price of the booking.” It also states in the cancellation policy “Remember that when you decide to cancel the booking, it deprives other families of a holiday and it deprives us of our income.” In your case we actually threw the policy out the window and tried to do the right thing by only charging you for the one night instead of the three you had booked for. We forfeited the next two nights income, as we couldn’t and can’t usually find other guests at such short notice. We are a small, family run & owned business so a last minute cancellation, whatever the reasons, can really affect us, hence the need for a policy in the first place. However the most important thing, more than one or two nights lost income or any policy, is that our guests leave feeling that we have done all that we could to provide the best experience possible even in unseasonal and difficult circumstances. We did ring you to apologise because we know your weekend wasn’t what you expected, but unfortunately you were not willing to listen to our apology and hung up on us. We would have really liked the opportunity to talk the weekend over with you and to not only apologise but to try and assure you of our real and honest committment to the comfort of our guests. I can see that some parts of our version of events don’t really tally with your version of events so we would very much like to have another & hopefully longer talk with you to find out where our wires are getting crossed. We hope that one day you will give us another shot. Please give us a ring, and we would encourage any other concerned or dissatisfied guests to ring us also.

Let me start off with saying that a farmstay is not my choice of a holiday (prefer a 5 star hotel) however i knew my 4 year old son would love it. I think I loved it just as much as him! We stayed in Chalet 10 which was very modern and spacious and had everything you could think of. Farmer John and very glamorous Farmer Rosa were so kind and it felt like you were a family guest of theirs almost as they were so relaxed about picking herbs, visiting the animals anytime, borrowing their yabbie nets etc. my son loved the animals, the tractor ride and the pony ride. We caught yabbies every day (they have canoes) at the dam and boiled them up. We can not wait to return in Winter and try their wine (currently in our cupboard at home!). Only 'negative' was our water in the shower went hot then cold constantly and I burnt my poor son the first night - just a tip. Wonderful amazing stay, don't go anywhere else.

We had trouble booking online and did it over email, paying a deposit over $200 for the weekend. All was confirmed by email and we were sent a receipt confirmation. We showed up and were sent to Cabin 3. Then another family arrived. It turns out they had somehow messed up the booking and even though the emails all said that weekend, they entered it for some random date in August and put that on the confirm, which we hadn’t opened because we had the emails it was attached to all confirming the details. We said look it’s an honest mistake just find us somewhere to sleep. They tried to say we had called to change it (which doesn’t even make sense given the email times) but they booked us into Evedon down the road and said to us and Evedon on the phone that they would pay for that and the kids could still come see the animals. Not great but not horrendous.
Then we checked out of Evedon this morning and they told us Ferguson had not paid them after all, and we had to. Embarrassed, and now down over $700 (our deposit plus the two nights at Evedon) we rang Ferguson. Apparently the proprietor changed her mind about paying Evedon and would refund our deposit instead. Not only is that an extra $250 for us, no-one bothered to even call us when they changed their minds, so we were surprise billed at Evedon reception and are now down both payments, wondering if and when we might see that deposit again. Guys, that’s very poor form, going back on what you said and not even bothering to call us. Ruined our weekend.

Wow where do I start. This is an incredible family experience. Quality time spent in a superb farmstay. Lovely natural accommodation, not a hotel but separate little chalets all with incredible views. Daily fun with the farm animals, tennis court for a fun game or 2. Breathtaking walks in the bush lands there. So peaceful and relaxing.

I am specially writing this testimonial because we are grateful for our friendly hosts - Farmer John and wife. Stayed 3 nights with my 23 month old boy and husband. Farmer John made special effort to engage my son and was always gentle and encouraging. Even though my son was reluctant to sit on the pony, it didn't stop Farner John from preparing the pony again the next morning for my son to decide if he wanted to try again. At the end of the stay, my son can even remember the names of the animals there.

When we requested for early check in because we arrived earlyaround noon, they accommodated us as well. That was a big relief because our son was pretty restless after the car ride.

Accomodation wise, we were not too pleased that the washing machine jams and does not work well. The water coming from the taps was brownish in colour but we were assured that they have their proper filtering process in place as they collect their own rainwater. They said the water from the kitchen tap and basin were of drinkable quality.

The chalet no 9 which we stayed in was big and spacious with well equipped kitchenette. We are thankful for this because cooked all our meals there. The bed was average and rather worn. Not good for hubby who has a back problem.

In the mornings, there were millipedes crawling in the bathtub. However, the millipedes presented good learning opportunities for my son. He was also captivated by the beautiful spiderweb made by a rather big spider on the verandah area.

Overall, the farmstay gets our 'very good' thumbs up mainly because of the hospitality displayed by our hosts, and that it is a great place for children to learn about the farm, animals, nature.

Stayed in Cottage 1 which was the oldest cottage. Was not able to booked for other cottage as internet reflected booking was full however upon reaching. We were the only family there, other families came in on the second day.
Animals were not as many as we though would be in a farm. In fact there were much more animals at Wonky Wind mill farm than here. The keeper Cheryl was great as she brought us to the tour to see the animals even though we were the only family around. Did not sit on the tractor as promised and We believed that the farmer wanted to wait for the next day when there were more families around

Within the cottage, the pots and utensil were badly maintained

Only plus point was the heated mattress in the main bedroom which really helps as it gets quite cold in the night

Overall the farmstay was considered experience for the experience given

Hi Yes it has s BBQ outside and a split system in the main living area. The chalet we stayed in (1) is quite small so the split system was fine to warm all the rooms (we stayed in winter)
