Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My review is totally personal and I don't want to put down the place or people living there as they do their best to take care of their land. and been very nice with us.This place just didn't meet my needs but can meet the needs of others. We arrived around lunch time, we had a friendly welcome by a member of the staff or family. At lunch time we had a scoop of rice with little pieces of vegetables. I was a little bit disappointed. Other point that need to be considered is that you can't go in the water during low tide (witch is a big part of the day) because the sting rays come in the sand. I was with my partner and his son then, I felt it was unsafe and boring for a little one and myself as I love to be in the water especially during the day when its hot outside, then that need has not been met. We had to pay our food by cash witch was expected but also our stay cash. It created a big hole in our cash budget. Most of places in Fiji you can pay at least your stay by card. Its a little detail I would have appreciated to know. There is only power between 6pm and 10pm. No wifi as well. Our room seemed to be cleaned and the toilet as well. We decided to leave the place after lunch for an other resort. The owner has been very understanding as we have been nice with her, explaining all of this in a kind way. This place can be a real paradise If you are looking for a remote place, simple, friendly, and quiet. Vinaka and all the best for the beautiful people living there. Vanessa

I had the best few days with this host family. I was lucky to be staying during the school holidays so I got to spend time with the children who were fantastic. The food is excellent, beds are comfy and lots of activities. I did the cave trip, kayaking, blue lagoon snorkelling and had a cooking lesson from Kasa. The facilities are basic but you don't need any more than that. It is a truly Fijian homestay, thank you.

Stayed at Long Beach for two nights from Saturday to Monday. Beautiful beach - a great place if you just want to hang by the beach all day. With that being said, it is not possible to go swimming during low tide because of stingrays hiding in the sand in shallow waters which is most of the day. There was a general lack of enthusiasm among the staff. Service levels were low and general enquiries about buying water/coffee or requesting activities seemed as if we were interrupting the staff and causing inconveniences. The least you can do to keep a few tourists impressed in Fiji is to seem like you care. It shouldn't take more than that as the nature of Fiji and the surroundings of Long Beach Island is too impressive to ruin. Despite this, the staff succeeded in keeping us disappointed. Sundays start with a Sunday church service at the local village for whoever wants to participate. Even though only a small amount of the staff actually went to the church, they do not offer any activities all Sunday. We were left to ourself all day with 7-8 hours between lunch at 12 and dinner somewhere between 19-20. Food was horrible. One meal at lunch consisted of overcooked spaghetti with ketchup. That had to keep us going for 7 hours before dinner. It was not possible to buy anything to eat apart from small bags of chips. Every other place we went to in the Yasawa islands, the staff had been doing everything possible to make sure we had the best time and go to do as many different activities as possible. At Long Beach, even though most of the activities required us to pay additional fees, the staff really just wanted to have a drink at night and play their guitars. Out of the 3 days we were at the Long Beach, it was only possible to go snorkling once. Rest was just on island activities that did not require any staff interaction. We really hope you step your game up as this was simply just not worth the money.

i stayed on coral coast, long beach, wayalailai and nadi during my 9 days in fiji and this was by far my best stop. although the accommodation was basic (but definitely adequate), the staff at long beach were BEYOND amazing. it really felt like we were welcomed into a nice big happy family. the place is run by people from the vuaki village who were mostly cousins. They were very happy people and extremely fun to hangout with. one of their specialties is night time spear fishing which i definitely recommend you try. it was an experience swimming in the sea at night and catching fish with spears, which the staff cooked for us for lunch the next day. I went with 5 other friends and even though this was our first island stop on fiji, we couldn't stop talking about the fun we had at long beach and are already planning a return visit

We initially arrived at this resort and the staff member who greeted us made it feel like it was an inconvenience that we were there.. However once we met the other staff they were friendly and inclusive. Unfortunately you could not swim during low tide, which was the majority of the day when we were there. This was disappointing.

Had a great time, friendly hosts and definitely recommend playing beach volleyball with them, or doing the coconut demo. Good range of activities in a stunning location, definitely recommend the Goat Island hike. Rooms are fairly basic and was a leak somewhere as our floor was always wet. Food was usually pretty spot-on.

Would recommend choosing another resort to stay in. Solar power grid shuts off at 10pm nightly which means no fan when sleeping. Hard to get a good night's sleep. No real amenities. Staff just sits around a day.

I had paid $600 to stay on Long Beach island for a 7 initially. After a couple of days, something came up and I had to return to the Fiji mainland. The resort staff stated that there were no refunds and kept $500 of my funds. I had also brought 7 large water bottles. They said they would keep them behind the front desk for me during my stay. Upon leaving, they kept all of the rest of my water bottles and all the money I had initially given them. I do not recommend backpackers to stay on this island as they are not honest people.
