Never stayed here but usually try and pop in for a pint and a meal if in the area. It can come across as a bit rough and ready but it's all the better for that I think ( more earthy I would call it) less touristy than many pubs in the area. Good home cooked fresh food and great... More

Stopped over for one night on the way back from Loch Ness, stayed in the chalets to the rear of the pub. Excellent re-furbished accommodation, clean and tidy and a lovely comfortable bed. Also happy to accommodate our dog too !!! Had drinks and evening meal in the bar by the sweltering log fire, excellent service and food was marvellous.... More

Our room was too small for an suite, the shower and toilet are in a cupboard with a sliding door right off the bed. The bedding was spotless, in fact everything was spotless. Great food and service, love the friendly dogs. One more point about the room, its an old inn, so be prepared for the very uneven floor LOL.... More

We stayed recently in chalet 9. Good sized room with comfy bed and large walk in disabled shower. The breakfasts are good and fill you up for the day ahead also we had two evening meals and they to were very good. One criticism is the plates should be warmed. The staff were all very friendly and looked after us.... More

Had a 3 night break in the lakes staying at the Crosskeys at Tebay. It's about a 20 minute drive to Kendal but in quite a good place for commuting/sightseeing. The bedrooms are equipped with tv and tea making facilities and are quite comfortable. Ensuite shower room was bijou but okay. The Crosskeys also have cabins if you can't use... More

We ate here one night whilst staying at a local B&B, it being the only place within walking distance to where we were staying (no car). The place looks a little run down and has an overall feel of not being looked after. The food was okay and the drinks choice about the same. Be warned soft drinks are expensive... More

Our place has been newly decorated inside for the last year we are just about to install new furniture, the outside of our building is just about to be painted as well, so we do look after our place. We get very good reviews regarding our food and we ask every customer who eats if everything is ok, you should... More

Recently visited Orton for a weeks holiday and found this pub come restaurant to eat in a few times .People were friendly and the atmosphere was nice .The place itself has a snug like room, oldie worldly and countrified with adjacent bar ,through to the back is a pleasant eating room as well as outside in the garden. There was... More

Room was offered to us immediately which was great as we needed to get cleaned up from a weekend in the wet dales . Room was a bit dated but spotless and represented good value.Beds were comfy...
